  1. Welcome aboard, this is a GREAT forum, lots of knowledgeable fisherman and tons gear for sale at all levels. Well worth $20 / year.
  2. What about your home-owners insurance. There's a deductible involved but you should have replacement costs. Pad the bill as much as you are allowed and recover some of your losses. I have 5 bays of garage space and security cameras all over the place. This is the world we live in. Good luck and sorry for your losses.
  3. Just Curious? What are you getting for a new Boat?
  4. Just curious if any Salmon are being caught in rivers near Toronto. Just asking for a friend who is heading there next week on business and would love to try his hand at Fly Fishing for Salmon or Trout. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  5. I bought four Shimano Lead Core Reels from Jack last week and they were sent to me in Mint Condition. Great Deal at a great price. Seems like he has a ton of Real Nice stuff.
  6. I've used them all over the years. Presently I prefer the Michigan Stinger collection, especially the new UV patterns. Dan Keating lists his top ten favorites in his book "Great Lakes trout and Salmon Fishing". I think color matters based on weather conditions as well as Lake conditions and size of the lure based on the bait they are feeding on. Maybe that's why I have at least over a thousand spoons on hand.
  7. Right now I make two trips a year, a week in May. and a week the end of Aug.- first of Sept. My numbers were down from last year. The wind hasn't co-operated with us that well. Just got to get my daughter thru 4-6 years of college and I'll be fishing May - Sept. Someday???
  8. I agree fully with Trenchfisherman, BE the better man and It's cool when you hook-up next to a Charter Boat that just cut you off, only to have a rod fire and his patrons watching you and a buddy with envy, crank in a King.
  9. I agree with finsntins. One must consider that the absolute best fishing of the year occurs between Aug. 20th and Sept 10th. on the Eastern end of the Lake. Every year is different, but if I had the choice to fish or not to fish? I guess that's a no-brainer. Just looking forward to when I can fish that lake everyday that mother nature allows, from late april- mid sept. Just got to get a kid thru College. Good Luck.
  10. I had a hard time selling my Islander couple years ago on this site. Certainly they are a dime a dozen although mine was extremely well maintained (garaged 50 weeks a year) As it turned out, I posted it on Boat Trader.com and someone from Russia bought and shipped it overseas. I guess Russia has some of the best Salmon fishing on the planet and the guy recognized the value of all the gear.
  11. Can't believe someone hasn't made on offer on this boat as of yet. As a boat owner, I know all too well what things cost. If you added up the costs of all the electronics, downriggers, rod holders, kicker motor, etc. Not including the cost of professional installation, It would be close to the asking price of the boat. Good luck with your sale.
  12. Way to go King Slammin, Sounds like you had a good day on the water. Just curious? When does your season slow down on the western end of the lake? Things don't really get going on the Eastern end till mid-august and basically drops off around mid-September. Just wondering, maybe someday I'll have the experience of the West end of the lake.
  13. Somebody just got one helluva boat. Good luck to you.
  14. Sorry to hear about Chuck's passing, he was a legend in the Fair Haven area.
  15. Reiter's Marine near Sandy Pond on Rt. 3 could order you a new bracket at a reasonable price in 2-3 day period. Try them, I don't have their number but you could look it up. Otherwise have some machine shop fabricate you one.
  16. Well written, your post is what I learned over the past 28 years!!!
  17. I gone to a 16 lb weight to minimize blow-back with the Fish Hawk X4. And yes new alkaline batteries a must.
  18. Your motor mat be worth more to a collector than you think.
  19. HAD THE SAME UNIT ON MY OLD BOAT, STARCRAFT ISLANDER PAID $500 BUCKS FOR IT. GREAT PRICE! GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR SALE. WELL WORTH IT.
  20. Steve Rooter 1-518-355-4535. Hope it works out for you. My understanding is that he has one for sale right now. His 26ft Penn Yan came out Great.
