  1. I bought a set of 16 lb. weights from Harvey for my corner riggers mostly to get my fish hawk X-4 probe down with minimal blow back. They are identical to the one's pictured. Works great, I use 13 lb. pancake weights on the boom riggers with angled fin to get as much as I can off to either side.
  2. I've bought a bunch of stuff from Mike V. Always in great condition, good stuff at a really good value!!!
  3. Yes definitely an Atlantic Salmon, nice fish!!!
  4. Mikey, if you need any stick baits let me know I've got dozens of them that I hardly use. Can send them to you before you go to Wilson. By the time I get to Lake O., spoons seem to be the hottest game in town.
  5. Matt, you are KILLING me. Nice job, can't wait to be out there!!!
  6. On my old Islander 22 ft hardtop, I had the reels mounted rear of the hardtop and three ft masts mounted via rail mount rod holders toward the bow with big jon pulleys attached to the masts. Worked great and fished that way for 20 years.
  7. I agree, these spoons look super sexy. Maybe I should pawn off my 5,000 michigan stingers and start buying these.
  8. Have you read Dan Keating boat on Kings. Dan offers a lot of helpful info that focuses on everything from sub-temp to wind direction to wave texture, etc. Certainly location and delivery apparatus can make a huge difference. I try to re-read chapters in his book before my next trip that may apply. I think that on real sunny, clear days, kings may be present but really hug the bottom. I guess you never will figure it out completely but like any game, you try and play the percentages. Good luck this year to all of us this coming season.
  9. Nice Hog, good job guys. Can't wait till spring!!!!
  10. My buddy on Catfish Creek has the same boat as this one only it's a 1984. His stringers are fully intact and it's a great fishing vessel, very sea worthy. Yours is set up nice. Good luck with your sale.
  11. Nice boat, good luck with your sale Sir. Mikey P, you know your stuff about boats.
  12. Looks like a nice well kept vessel for a very modest price, good luck with your sale.
  13. I think Mike (Vetting) stated if as correctly as possible. On my Baha I have an on board charging system for both batteries and also carry a 900 cranking amp booster pack. Have lent out the booster pack more than once to guys that have run out of juice. Hey, we are all there to help each other out .
  14. Just be careful of some of the older models, they are notorious for loose rivets and leaky hulls Fortunately they are repairable with the replacement rivets and bottom paint. Had to replace the transom on my Islander 3 years ago.
  15. Nice Brown, I'd have that mounted!!
  16. I ran an Islander Hardtop for 20 + years, great boat especially for the money and towing ability. That boat caught hundreds of trout and salmon in Lake O. The only issue was sometimes when the wind kick-up and the bite was Hot, couldn't control the boat like a glass boat. Fished in my buddies 26 Penn Yan and noticed how he could control the boat in windy conditions when the bite was on. Wind dies out and the bite is over. Bought my Baha in fall of 2011 and love it. Of course had to buy a new Ford F350 one ton to haul it, but hey , we only live once. Bang for your buck Islander's are great. As it turned out the guy that bought my Islander (for $8500, tons of gear) had it sent to Russia, seems they have better fishing than all Great Lakes combined
  17. I put rail mount rodholders near the bow with machine made aluminum poles (custom made) that perfect into the rod holders with big jon pulleys. The reels are mounted as far back as the Hardtop giving me access to the reels and getting the tow line as far forward. Started out using heavy PVC but not rugged enough. The most expensive part was the Bert's Reels, works great
  18. I agree with both on the Lam and Adk1. This winter has been especially cold and it will take extra time to warm up to normal temps. We'll be in Mexico Bay May 10-17th. Seem to always catch the biggest browns that week. Two years ago got 9 Kings in 100-150 fow one morning, May 12th. Biggest was 17 lbs.
  19. I have Keith Chamberlain's number 802-525-1172, I'm sure he could hook you up with the releases. www.downriggerrelease.com
  20. You nailed on the head JimB, couldn't agree with you more. Temporary problems will be solved in the long haul. Hold on to your Rig and fish MORE. You'll may be insulted with some of the offers you may receive. Hand in there Bub.
  21. Good luck with your sale Bill, looks like a great value in a very sea worthy vessel. What's your next boat, just curious?
  22. I have them both, they work equally well for me with minimal blow back. My corner riggers use the 16 lb. torpedo weights I purchased from Troutman. The 12 lb. shark weights are used on the boom riggers, I added bent fins to take them out to the sides. The only big difference was the price. The shark weights cost me $150 for the pair.
  23. Hey Bob, there's a guy looking for 12 # Shark Weights, Told him about yours that you sold me last year, Any Left???........PD
  24. Check out Angling Addict on this site, he makes a real nice chrome shark weight, also Troutman 87 makes weights of all sizes, both are great guys.
