  1. fished seneca all day today from 35ft to 70 foot i marked fish all the way across the screen on west side.....north end. landed 3 nice 30 inch lakers and lost two hogs behind the boat pullin coppa'.......u know u got a good fish when u feel the head shakes and your 17lb. mono leader feels like its gona pop!........nothing like fishing with your fingers to make your blood pump in the spring.....they try to outrun ur boat i had to pick up the speed so i didnt slack the line theywere charging me @ about 3 or 4 m.p.h.!!!!damn big ones get smart when u hook em. guess thatrs how they get big....they learn how to spit the sutons out or trick u into pulling them out!
  2. now all u guys gotta do is fry ur fish in peanut oil and u will never have a problem again!
  3. hot dAMN.....WE GOTS THE BIGGINS IN seneca..somebodys bloated!!!!
  4. whos was it? well 2 13 is damn close to 3 lbs!!!!!! couple ounces off. point made. lol was there a name of the winner?
  5. i saw a guys catch @ roys marina..bucket full of 16- 20 inch perch...yeah i said twenty...some looked to be 3 lbs..hes from geneva and has won the tourney many times....im thinkin he night do it this year!!!!!
  6. yeah really!!! what lake...if its all F-Lakes im interested....thats alota luck to run with 30 or so days of it!
  7. another seneca snake perch....oakleaf tipped on a sutton 44 with a single hook. pulled across the bottom @ about 1 m.p.h. with handline last may....damn good eats!
  8. sutton 88 hammerred with single or fixed single hook...big bait profile...big hits. drag a ball just above bottom with some galv. chain zip tied to ur ball....itll stir up the bottom as it slides across it and if it snags the zip ties break and ur gear goes home that night!...TRY THAT TO PISS EM OFF.
  9. twilly tips are the bees knees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol.....great for broken rod tips on trolling rods too....make that 9'6" a stiff 9' real qwik like!
  10. same spring here....lost two BIG HOGS allready in under 50 ft of water....broke 12 and 15lb. cajun red shock leader after some real serious head shaking!!!....gona be a good spring i hope on the north' ish end.
  11. pullin copper from 35 ft to 75 ft and killing the lakers....lost three suttons with some head shakin' hookups real shallow couple good tugs and pop...offf.....15 lb. cajun red leader....chunky monkeys are @ the bottom of the west shelf this weekend from 45-65.!!!
  12. SUTTON TACKLE...in NAPLES NY...go to the source. they havnt plated any new spoons in 4 years......they are stocking their shelves now with all the good numbers....Support some local businesses and go to the source......Walmarts and internet businesses have ruined the sport fishing and hunting supply shops that used to be a local sight......now they are far and few. take the ride to Main st. in Naples NY at the bottom of Canindagua Lake and keep a good thing going. its quite the experience to walk into the same old skool store and see the same faces and selection of product and supplies that are essential to a good day out in the fingerlakes....
  13. extremly low ....been some smelt in the creek . not in great numbers yet but all this rain is producing alot more baitfish activity.....alot of salmon and trout near mouth....live bait rig @ night...!
  14. ive gotten two other good reports on us composites....gona callemup. thanks!
  15. i run small boats....johnboats and cartopper and deep v row/outboards and i always change primer bulbs every year.....the last thing i want on SENECA Lake during the spring fishing season before the lake warms, is to smell gas and see a leak in my dryrotted primer bulb. then hear my kicker go ....brappbrap poof. lol 20 bucks for a fresh bulb and a guarenteed safe day on the lake with no coast guard chopper rescues.....hmmm priceless.
  16. acetone!....thanks guy....might seem like simple B.S. but ive never done a boat restore before and this is my learning curve....last thing i want to do is spend alot of money on finishing products only to waste it because i didnt prep the surface right.....thannks. my next phase will be to chose a paint and clearcoat product to have sprayed on with an HVLP gun by one of my buddys that paints cars. another area i have no experience in, chosing the right kind of hull paint and clearcoat to finish a thirteen foot boat with without breaking the bank...
  17. I have a 13 ft deep v fiber with wood skeleton beam and framework and wood transom...small trailer boat. too big to be a cartopper in my opinion....mid 50's or 60's i think transition period from wood to fiber....only one sticker is visible and it reads three of the letters in large writing..PEN . rest is faded....either penn yan or PENSYLTUCKY i fear...lol j-k. long story short got it cheip with an evinrude 9.9 on it . I want to make a full restore on it for pulling copper on Seneca . I want to re-fare the hull and fix some holes and dings and weak spots that a dumass' filled with epoxy and made a mess of it.System two or three quick fare is what i want to use but i need help to clean and prep the hull first....what steps should i take to clean it and prime it for application....other than obvious pressure washing and geting it down to clean fiberglass?.....thanks for any input
  18. usually when ur jigging, i find it works best with a light wind.....let the boat drift and jig from 90 to 150....they will just start showing up on the screen if ur near em....trick is getting a bite....browns will chase up in the water column quite a ways.....the lakers only take for me rite off the bottom. gota try the shimano butterflys i hear they are great....i just dont like to jig unless the conditions deem it so....like when the victrola wont put out, which is seldom to never.haha good luck.
  19. try jigging off the drop offs on the west side.....there are fish STACKED UP, in 25-70 f.o.w.......up untill a few weeks b4 the derby the lakers are really shallow, the big ones that is. I pull copper and alot of my Big headshakers take the sutton as im pulling on and around the transition from twenty feet to 50 or more when the shelf drops real hard.....ive been marking schools of fish @ 38ft....alot the last few days, and @ 55 ft....just my lucky numbers....try jiggin out over 120-150 alot of action there too untill the thermo. set up.
  20. went friday night and got one smelt....about 7 inches.....saw about a dozen more that outsmarted me...tonight im just getting home with one more in the bucket saw about a dozen more again that i just couldnt get the net under.....guess they are gona be bait tommarow as i dont have enuff to justify a meal....
  21. i use weed eater line...works greeat. gota find the right kind tho...not that cheip ****. and its gota be round.
  22. i went to Tahagonak or however the hell u spell it....on cayuuga last weekend......low water but there were fish in the lake all around the mouth...kinda hard to chase a school of minnows in the lake in three feet or more of water....I did manage to bring home over two dozen crawdads thatwere anywhere from 3 to 4 or more inches long...HUUUGE billy!! lol........only had one good rain since then....maybe 2nite theyll be some in the creek.....Im driving down after dark to try again,...Seneca lae is a bust, none left....
  23. north end is poppin!....lotsa bait got smahed up on the drops offs on the west side today....birds were enjoying the slaughter in front of my lake lot just north of Kashong in 30-70 FOW....quite the show....im going out witht he boards and my victrola next weekend to catch some salmon and perch if the weather permits...
  24. i troll with old 2 stokes...a six horse johson and a 9.5 evinrude....i run them one up from j6 to j8's for trolling works great....i can slow down to a slow putter and u can barely tell theyr running.
