Thanks again guys, I agree with Fat Trout and HBC, looking at a new Yamaha 150HP 4 stroke. - Lake O is an ocean and having a reliable motor that will last years seems like a smart choice. Appreciate all the input and help.

Thanks for all the help, I am leaning towards getting a new motor; I had this motor at a Marina for 8 weeks and they couldn't figure it out. I wasn't to impressed with the Marina and the way they handled the whole event. I won't say who they are but wouldn't recommend going there unless its to change plugs and lower gear oil. I talked to Hank at L&M and he won't touch these motors and I appreciate him being honest on this. Wish the other Marina was as trustworthy.

Appreciate the advise, the motor is still at the Marina and can't figure it out. The last attempt is to replace a capacitor which may be done tomorrow. Does anyone know of a repair shop that has a scan tool? I contacted Hank at L&M and he can't help on this one.

Thanks to all for responding. Any chance you would have Hank's phone #?

Thanks, compression is good, no problem there

Bought a 1999 Lund this year and went against all the advise posted here not to purchase without confirming the motor working. ; Learned that lesson.. This boat has a 1999 Evinrude 225HP Ficht, Was repaired at a Marina and took it out on Saturday. Ran good out but when we came in the engine had no power after 1/4 throttle. Sort of skips after 1/4 throttle. The mechanic is young and most likely not an expert on this engine. A few questions: 1. is there an experienced mechanic out there that is familiar with this engine that can work on it preferably in the Syracuse area? 2. Knowing this is an older engine I have a few choices - is it worth fixing and having confidence it will operate without issue or should I consider looking at getting a different engine. I know these engines have a history. Perhaps a mechanic that is familiar with these may be the best option.

Owasco Lake: Marina gas question
Dances with Fish replied to On the Hook's topic in Finger Lakes Discussion
you'll find Jack at the SS Marina a stand up guy, he has non ethanol gas. He can also help you with locating a cabin if you give him a call. Just leave a few fish for the rest of us. -
Looking for one of these, any thoughts on where to get one

Ron, could you send me pictures, may have a win/win situation for you. I have a 19' aluminum tracker with 120HP Johnson, center console, ete ( we can review details) that I'd be willing to trade with you and still give you most of what your asking. This will provide you the funds and allow you to keep fishing. Any interest in this or would you prefer to sell outright? -
18 Mile Advice
Dances with Fish replied to Dances with Fish's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Thank you for the insight. I guess there are two 18 mile creeks. The one we would thinking of going is an Erie Trib, near Hamburg. I have had enough elbow to elbow fishing being on the SR this Sept-Oct. The trib looks nice and long with a catch and release zone. Have steelhead and browns made it up to the catch and release zone yet? Either way we will have new scenery. -
Morning Everyone, Thank you in advance for those that post. This website has been a huge asset for my father and I on Lady O for the past few years. During Fall and Winter I fish the Salmon river every weekend sometimes twice if I am allowed My buddy and I are going to stray off the SR this weekend and try 18 mile. Have never fished it before so we are going in blind. I was wondering if you had some advice on access points, parts of the river to try this time of year, it would be much appreciated. We fly fish and I am bringing the pin. Any different patterns that work better in the west would help not not asking anyone to share secret holes or fly patterns. Just a general sense of where to go. We aren't fans of crowds, well who is? So we do not mind walking. Thanks again for the advice!

L.J., Nice to meet you on the deck, that was me and my father coming in the same time as you. (Yellow shirt in fourth picture) Tough conditions out there prob should have stayed in the 60-70fow. Blanked for only the second time this season. Congrats I knew that fish looked bigger than 25 pounds. Look forward to see you out next year! Jimmy

OSWEGO- 08/29
Dances with Fish replied to jeffrwallace's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Dad and Brother went out on Monday and this morning. Said the waves were getting bad for our 19ft Aluminum, 3 footers or so, hopefully they calm down by the time you get out there. Tell you its hard to work while they are out there having a great time. Marking a lot of fish suspended at the 80-90ft range in 90-120fow. Green SD and fly combos have been taking most of the fish. Dispeys out 250-275. Today were a lot of hits and misses..... Hope this helps as a starting point good luck.
