As much aa I enjoy fishing with experienced anglers, taking kids out and getting them on quality fish is priceless. Conversely, slow days are a drag, but slow with kids on board is agonizing. Blessed today, lines in at 6:30 and out by 10:00.
Took a friend and his nine year old son fishing today. Until this morning the son had caught one small fish at camp.
150-220 feet of water. Riggers at 110 and 95, divers out 225 to 250. Meat was on fire, 20 bites in three hours. Father and son did well and had a ball. Had no idea fishing like we enjoy every day existed.
Older boy came into town mid day. Let lines in 80 foot at 12:30. Was hoping for browns and set up accordingly. 63 down 80 over 100 but had to run high three’s going west to get 2mph ish.
Did a Brown, small King and a couple Bows. Lost, dropped, three or four more. One of those days where you struggle to maintain down speed with only a few workable directions. Off the water at three, will revisit in the morning.
Glad you had a good time Devon! It was fun, lots of laughs, even better when it’s at Rick’s expense. In all fairness, Rick was awesome to come along and help this morning with no sleep. Much appreciated.
DSM5578 (Devon) joined Dickey and I on the boat this morning. Devon is relatively new at Lake Ontario and wanted to get things dialed in a little. Good news I did a master class on how to tangle copper rods with diver rods, hopefully he puts this new found knowledge to good use.
Worked primarily 120 to 180. Water was quite unstable, warm water flooding in from the west. Had a quick double followed by a handful of drops and tangles. Was a little bit of a grind but by 11:30 we’d had over 20 bites and landed a dozen Kings with four or five over 20lbs. Lots of laughs, had a fun morning.
