Holy crap MooseKnuckle, I was thinking about coming up early next week to install my out drive and would like to fish, but if the waters that high I'm having second thoughts. Doesn't these conditions usually give the fish lock jaw or doesn't it effect the fish on the open waters like the wall, sunken island and around Stoney and Galloo? By the way I bet the waters made you nervous if it was shaking your boat with it all the way up. I guess we can forget about going up stream Moose? I'll need to use my uncles slip because I can't tie off at the bank when the water is high

Well sounds like your on the road to recovery, and your right that's for both sides, I guess I should have read it better, it certainly looks like quality stuff Les turned you onto, I've ordered lures off fish307 and I received everything quickly. Well satisfied and will continue with their services. Good luck with your new power cords!! PAP.

That's nice!! At your expense they gain, what happened to customer satisfaction

If you go to like radio shack, they make all different grade solders and diameters I got real small diameter solder to do solder joints that open up on alternators, I use a resistance soldering unit, gets hot fast, if you don't want the solder to creep up the wire use a needle nose vise grip and clamp on just above the joint you are soldering, this will stop the solder from running up the wire, if you use a gun or a iron.

Otter Board Question
Xxx replied to master baiter's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Although they were supposed to be the board going, I can't agree more with Fleet & and Feeder, get yourself a set of double boards, some are made out of a composite material and others are wood, hook them to your tow line and let them creep out to your desired distance and start fishing, you might have to upgrade your tow line as the Dacron line that comes with the original equipment might not stand the pull, I tore off twice before I went with the Blood Run stuff, I forget what they call their line but haven't hade a problem since. Like the saying goes "set'em & forget'em" -
BS. those weed beds aren't there anymore its a shame we used to crush the smallies there on live minnow, even on a SW wind blow you could catch nice eyes there also, that whole stretch out through there is gone. I don't know what ever happened but its a damn shame!!! Been about 2-3 years now. Tight lines to all PAP

Hey way to Les, I have to say those are some beautiful pictures, very clear, I see you got your elite 7 going, what chip do you have in it? Your absolutely correct about the instruction manual, they might as well saved the paper and send you a roll $hit paper because you would get more out of it. I guess you herd the news? I finally got my boat up to the lake fished for 3hrs and decided to head down to Chaumont Bay we were almost up on plane when she just sat back down in the water, at firs I thought it came out of gear but it was in forward gear so I tried reverse to no avail checked for a torn cable and everything moving as per plan. WTF. so we fired up the kicker and motored over to the nearest dock where we met the nicest man in the world a NY local. he let us tie off there and took us over to camp to get our truck, and he insisted he took our trailer, so we grabbed a drink did the bathroom thing probably took up to 10 minutes by the time we got back over there he had our boat sitting on the blacktop waiting for us to hook on. I offered him money he insisted that he didn't want anything. Long story short some time ago he was stranded out on the lake and a PA. fisherman towed him along way to his dock and he said if he could ever return the favor he would, well we happened to be those lucky guys and because we were from PA he went the extra mile. Well I'm ready to make the trip north to install my new to me lower unit. oh yea I blew apart the lower unit, when I bought this boat the lower unit was just rebuilt!! only thing is the Hemlock that put it together forgot the shims on the upper gear set and it ripped all the teeth of the gears. I bought another boat with the same outdrive for $150.00 and I replaced all the seals and water pump, that's how I know the shims were forgotten when I pulled this gear set there were a stack of them in there unlike mine. So we should be good to go. talk to ya later PAP.

Well that's the lesser of the two evils, I threw that in only because of my situation, I truely believe your on the right track especially if it's puffing smoke like that after a restart. You'll be fine after a good tune up.

Very nice set up and boat but could you be more specific with your question? What area do you need help in? There are lots of guys and gals willing to help on here and very informative. Thanks!

Just a thought, I'm in the mist of going over a lower unit I purchased for my boat and there are 3 seals that can fail and let the outdrive leak oil which could cause oil to get into the water also, so just for safety sake check your oil level in your lower unit. There are 2 seals in the upper half and one in the lower part, the prop shaft seal, and the 2 in the upper half keep the oil in the upper gear set and the other keeps the water in the lower side from reaching the upper gear set kind of like a double protection plan, both unit I took off my original unit and the one I purchased had the water seal shot and the oil seal was on its last leg. Like I mentioned earlier just a thought. Hope your on the right track, this is hell what I'm going through right now!

Ray if you stayed at Turtle Creek, we stayed in the marina just the opposite side of the channel, called Lamberjacks, he had rentals on that little road coming in we stayed in a house fully equipped for $600.00 a week we always had 6 guys so it was $100 a head for the week and $65 a week for a slip. We also went in May, the eyes were coming off the jig bite and turning onto the harnesses, bet you spent some $$$ at the Happy Hooker, that guy was a good salesman, one day it was John Deere green, the next it was purple, then yellow, black, before you knew it you had 10#s in jigs, but yea if you never experienced the western basin walleye bite, you just can't explain it, and they hit all day, but early morning and from 5 till dark was best. The wind was completely opposite of LakeO it was windy in the morning then calm in the afternoon then windy again in the evening. During the jig bite I foul hooked so many eyes it was insane to say the least. Only thing that was bad was the long a$$ ride home, 8 1/2 hrs for us. I miss those days. PAP

Absolutely, I certainly wouldn't change a thing, thanks for sharing your info!! You guys have a first class fishery out there, there's far and few places that produce like Erie. You guys are sure lucky to have a fishery like that in your back yard!!!
