  1. Last year was definitely late which was probably due to the cold winter. This winter may have been even colder than last.

    Fair Haven

That's good to hear. I've been fishing Fair Haven for years and noticed a drop off in the smallmouth numbers. Somebody mentioned it might be the Goby's eating the eggs.
  3. Nice fish and video. That's not easy to do by yourself. Congratulations!
  4. Fished Fair Haven Sunday. We got 1 small brown in tight to shore and a tiny steelhead 30 down over 250. Very slow for us.
  5. That's awesome! A picture says a thousand words. Pretty dark at 58' down...

  7. Awesome fish! To think that fish is back out growing bigger makes it even better!
  8. I know exactly what you mean. My boat runs like crap on 10% ethanol. Here's a list of the gas stations in NY that sell real gas. http://pure-gas.org/?stateprov=NY
  9. Wow! Absolutely beautiful fish of a lifetime! Definitely need to get a blowup of the excellent picture too!
  10. Good to know. My outboard runs terrible on 10% ethanol and it runs great on ethanol free. Real gas is becoming like gold. Here's a link to all the ethanol free gas stations. Just drill down to the area you are looking for. http://pure-gas.org/extensions/map.html
  11. Look for a Fast Track gas station. They have no ethanol premium. My motor runs great on it. If I use gas with ethanol, it's been nothing but headaches even when I use the treatment.
  12. Wow - Sounds like the day we had 2 years ago. We fished that same stretch this past Friday and couldn't buy a fish! It seems like the Browns turn off and on like a light switch. I guess you just need to be there when the switch is on!
  13. Anybody ever fish Lake Cazenovia? Anything happening over there?
  14. Frame that picture and put it on the wall for Christmas or his 9th Birthday!
  15. We fished 2 days in Mexico Bay and went 9 for 12 with 7 of them in the 25-30 range. We used 5 different Flasher Fly combinations and found that ALL worked but none of them seemed to work any better than the next one. We generally fished 2 riggers around 80-100 and 2 dipsy's on #2 setting around 240-280. The only thing that seemed consistent is that we were doing better on dipsy's by a margin of 2-1! Anybody else experience this?
  16. We finally made it out to the Trench on Sunday around 11AM for about 4 hours. Didn't move a rod and hardly marked anything. Saturday was just too rough for my 18 footer.
  17. I talked to a lot of people coming back in. It seemed like anybody with a boat under 18 was heading back and even some bigger ones. I figured better safe than sorry. Was that you with the center console parked at the end of the lot? I had the white Lund parked in the middle. When we went out the second time around 2PM the lake was fine. According to my son, "everybody out there was catching more than us". I told him sometimes it just seems that way but maybe he was right. From my standpoint, I thought we did pretty good for our second time out with downriggers!
  18. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/1-9/2 Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Beautiful Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 4ft to flat Surface Temp: 74 Location: Mexico Bay LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 7 Total Boated: 4 Species Breakdown: Kings Hot Lure: Green-Dot Flasher with Hammer Fly Trolling Speed: 2.3 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 90-120 Lure Depth: 95-115 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS My son and I left the Pine Grove Boat Launch Sat morning but ended up turning around because it seemed a little rough for my 17 footer. We went out later in the afternoon and ended boating 1 and breaking another off at the net when the fish got tangled in the down-rigger cable. If anybody catches a 20lb king with a green-dotted flasher and fly attached, it's probaly mine! Sunday we were 3 for 5. 6 of the 7 total hits were on green-dotted flashers with matching green fly. Nothing on spoons, dipsy's or leaded line. Just a great day to be out there!
