  1. Well I usually use 05 but for some reason it has had issues with excessive static. 68 and 72 are common channels. Ive been using 68 this year. I have that on in my camp too. There really has not been much chatter. Usually its more earlier than later.. Nice job on the fishing...you definitely got to put your time in this year lol... Next time your out there put one rigger around 110 at trolling speed. Might help...
  2. Sure do....I have an rv site right across from the boat. makes it easy lol.. Some nice kings are showing up around 150 to 250 feet. I think I might take a peek tomorrow night. but the browns are still in....
  3. Basically I filled it at the cleaning station, sprinkled some bucks seasoning and threw it in here. I used hickory and some left over cherry I had. Finished it up with some maple branches I had in the back. I eat very little of it. Most around me tend to want it more than I do lol...but its good when you chill it down and serve it with cocktail sauce... Here's a shot of the cherry steelhead we got the other day.
  4. Thanks, lol yea I saw you guys heading out....It wasnt much after that when I turned the boat around and once I got to the first bluff he hit. The last couple of days the fish have been heavy ducking from te west winds on the state park side....But I think the browns will still hang around for awhile. The water temp seems pretty even in close to shore..... Its all good...He was on the smoker by noon lol
  5. There seems to be a nice school just inside the chute on the park side. There were some good bites in the morning. The guys that did go out deep did spot fish in the 100-150 range, wayyyyyy down. A few good kings did come in today but mostly browns. A couple of atlantics came in as well. I would say most were in the 5-8 lb range. It was a slower day for sure. But keep after em because there still there. The water temp is still holding. Should be good for tomorrow too. Seems like earlier is better Me after yesterdays empty net I went out at 6:15 and evened it up. Had a classic old man and the sea battle with a kype jaw brown just even of the first bluff in 14 feet of water. Took awhile to get him in because he was 250 feet back. Weighed in at 11. He hit about a half hour into it. I gave it a couple of more passes and headed back in for the day.
  6. No problem, Lookin good. The lake calmed down last night, Today was a beautiful day. Some did and some didnt. The ones that did came in with some nice size browns from in close. Mostly west of the chute just past the point. Water is still stained particularly around the chute and points. We were on the didnt lol (disclaimer: the crew went out for an unapproved shore leave and as a result we didnt get out until 10:15) lol But its looking good...(photo courtesy of Trophy Nuts Charters) Hopefully everyone can get out and enjoy the weekend! Lake should be fine...
  7. Well today was a good day. The west wind did pickup but before then fishing was bang on. There are alot of fish just outside the chute. Pick your side and stay within the 10-20 ft range. Stick baits and spoons were working well. Everyone who went out did well. All browns with the exception of a couple of lakers. Nice size browns. Some were up in the 12 lb range. Trophy Nuts Charters came back with the full rack. Ill post a pick by tomorrow..... Should be a great weekend to fish so if you can get out do so. The winds are shifting from west to NW overnight so the brown water should stay here close....I will be out tomorrow and thru the weekend as most of us here will be.... Lol go em!!!!
  8. Yup, conditions were fine. The lake calmed down and I figure I would go out for an hour or so and see who's gonna zoom who lol... But it was a great morning to pop around abit. And as much as I got beat at my own game, it was an awesome morning to be out and I felt it was worth 1.20 of Aretha telling me I got zoomed lol....(this song came on as I was fishing so I thought it was appropriate, lol) Here's the short vid that will show the conditions.... Lets see what the next few days brings...Hopefully the other guys came back with something....
  9. There back. Here is the senario This morning there was a two foot chop with very murky water, NW winds. Temp was 45 degrees surface at 18 feet, 52 surface (which is basically all of it) inside the chute line. The murky water goes from shorline out to 18 feet. I picked up a fair amount of fish right outside the chute so I concentrated in that area. It was just me and two charters from bayside playin around when I was out there. I spent an hour plus out there, got two nice hits off my little cleos and they were gone by the time I grabbed the rods. I tried to stir them up by doing semi tight circles (cleos are great for speed variations) and zig zag patterns but that was it the two hits and done. I would like to think the other two did ok if they were out there for awhile and utilize multiple rods (I can only run two , I was by myself) they should have scored something. But they are back, issue is south winds blow back tomorrow then switch west so hopefully she idles down..But if you can get out I would say go for it...
  10. Well a few of us plan on going out so hopefully she calms down and then we shall see...
  11. Lol let me tell ya what... It was so windy that when I was looking for driftwood on the beach, the sand blowing on my face actually made me look sunburned lol.. And its not a good idea for a 135 lb person to stand on the pier when its like that lol....If I held up a large garbage bag it would have blew me over to the park lol... basically this is what it looked like Im going out tomorrow to check it out. It should subside by then...she was pretty churned up I would say...
  12. The winds are still out of the west. Its crankin today. It would be nice to have the winds shift to nw. It starts calming down tomorrow....we shall see lol
  13. There are a variety of ways to attack these bad boys. Right now yes water is clear but that will change. When I fish browns I dont use the conventional planner board way. I like to set my lines straight back 250-300 ft. Depending on the presentation I may drop the down rigger ball 6 feet or so. But my favorite is the little cleo original with the naked lady on the back. That has always produced well for me. The original stinger chartreuse is one I would drop the ball with. People ask why dont you use your planners. The reasoning is this... Yes fish scatter as boats pass, however I have found the "babies" if you will tend to be the ones scattering. Thats why I see a good amount of small ones on the rack. But the big boys hold tight. They didnt get big by making the wrong move. So if your back that far and your presentation is correct you should get bigger browns on avg. You wont get as many as with planners for sure...But I believe the hogs are sitting right there waiting....
  14. She should stir up pretty good in the next 24 hours
  15. Yea they can get big. Well it looks like she stirrs up starting tomorrow. There calling for up to 7 footers on sun night. Lets see what all this does.

  18. And I would imagine by then everything will be up and running. Some of the biggest browns i ever caught were around that weekend. Last year being a very warm Winter and instant Summer this year really is what it normally is. There are plenty of shakedown runs to be had I like to use this as a really good guide as to what you can expect weather wise. It gives a good look at the wind directions http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=43.34315755514772&lon=-76.70722961425781&site=buf&unit=0&lg=en&FcstType=marine
  19. No doubt it was a late start. Especially after last year when we had virtually no Winter. Realistically its still early and hopefully more reports come out soon. The park really has not been busy and people are behind compared to last year. The pan fishing is now starting to pickup so thats a good sign. Hopefully this coming system might bring the browns back.
  20. Thanks guys. Well the weather has been awesome. The pattern still is the same. Like Popeye said get out early, fish up top and hang out within the 100 to 160 range and you should be ok. It looks like a new system moves in tomorrow so we shall see if it effects the browns. We went out yesterday for about an hour or so and picked up a real nice steelhead. She weighed in around 18lbs. That seemed to be the pattern for most out there. Steelheads, kings, lakers and a couple of scattered browns, mostly off spoons. If you use riggers keep the spoons about 60 feet behind the ball.
  21. I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread with updated specific information on the Fair Haven area. A general thread where you can go and read updated information on what it or is not being caught. With all the fish that comes into Bayside Marina, the Charter Captains that work out of there and being it is a DEC check point there is so much information I cant help but think it will benefit others who want to fish out of this area. What I will do is when I see what is going on I will post in here. Certainly anyone else who fishes regularly can post in here as well. Lets try and keep it general and simple yet informative. As of yesterday the Brown trout fishing was very slow. Clear water, south winds, still some cold water has more or less shut it down (for now). However what was coming in were nice Salmon in the mid 20's range and very large lake trout in the high teens and low 20's. The interesting thing about the Lake Trout is these are not the drag on the bottom mud chickens. These guys are coming up to the 50 foot to surface range along with the Salmon. Most catches were in the 110 to 160 range straight out the chute more towards the east. Spoons like stingers were popular and it seems that live bait was irrelevant. Fishing was spotty. Some got blanked and some filled the rack with a nice mixed bag. This weeks weather should remain beautiful....for sun tanning lol. But if you want some action, it seems the 110 to 160 range from surface to 50 feet is what it is for now.....Good Luck.
  22. Well after a nice cleanup we finally put her in and went for our Shakedown run. The situation was simple. South winds, clear water, mid sun, slight chop. Whats that mean?? It meant "we aint gettin nothin" lol But it doesnt matter right?? Cause this is our shakedown run and the purpose is to make sure all the equipment is working properly, check the camera angles and make sure the lines are tight. So basically this video does not have the 15lb brown or the 30lb king.....But it does have a great tune and maybe if your working it might give you some enjoyment. So enjoy it lol.... Tomorrows another day...
  23. I heard about it, its no big deal. You just got a little too close is all. As you see boats coming your way just look for the planers and stay wide from them. You will be fine, ive seen much worse.
