  1. Welp for the last three days its been hot....take that back real *&* hot! And I figure fish are like kids. If they really want something they will come running...Kinda like an ice cream truck on a hot summer day. And as hot as it was temp wise I figure I would go out there and put on my most sundae colored nk28's on and give it a shot. What you want to do is start out at 100 feet and drop the ball down 100. Go north to about 220 to 250 and turn around. You will spot browns up around 70 and kings down around that 100 mark. As you progress out to 220 bring the balls up to around 70 and kings are there. I spent two hours out there and lets just say Im glad I brought my ice cream lol... If you want to see the video I made click the link below it may take a few minutes to open but I think you will like the results: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/23274091/ice%20cream%20man.wmv A front moves in tonight it may change it up a bit.
  2. lol I should have gone out deeper. We were spotting fish in about 120 150 but couldnt get a taker.
  3. not to productive this weekend either...Unless you were out fishing for alewife's lol. we will see what happens this week.
  4. Dont even attempt it until it gets dredged out. every year is different.
  5. Yea lol...I would head and run in the opposite direction of the lake lol... Its going to be lousy up here this weekend. Today is a bit breezy
  6. Absolutely no problem. things will settle out soon, should anyway.....
  7. and the drought continues lol. Not even a full barrel at the marina yesterday. The ones coming in with 3-5 fish have been out for seven or more hours fishing multiple..MULTIPLE lines and combinations. this front popping thru now is a biggie it may change it up abit..
  8. welcome to summer. its really cut down. We still have browns around fair haven area but its slowing down for now...
  9. Any boat can break down at any time. Thats why it is a good idea to make sure your vhf radio is fully working before you leave dock. I keep a vhf in my camp as well just in case someone needs help out there. Depending on where you are and how you communicate is key to getting you back safely and quickly. Its a good idea to know which channels are being monitored by others on the water in the area you are at. Channel 16 is the primary distress channel. That is what the coast guard monitors officially,(actually they have scanners as well) but you will get faster help and a tow if you simply request a tow on the popular channel. Keep in mind it is EVERYONES responsibility to assist and help when a boat is down...not just the coast guard! A number of years ago me and my son went out the engine caught fire, we put it out with our extinguisher and radioed for a tow on the popular channel in the area. I was back at dock within an hour. As always one should renumerate anyone who helps with assistance particularly if it is just a simple tow from engine failure. Regardless, breakdowns are part of it, it doesnt matter if you have one or two engines anything can and does go wrong out there. Thats why communication is key....
  10. Welcome back to reality lol...I am out of Fair Haven and the whole area was pretty much mud chicken (laker) heaven. Some in my area did get some salmon, mid size. But few and far between as compared to two weeks ago. The lake conditions are awesome....maybe a little too awesome..
  11. Ive been in the business for the past 21 years. Ive seen it all. The answer is no. Particularly nowadays where new boats have existent loans that go out as far as 12 years. 12 years (as an example) is along time to partner on a boat. Things go wrong, things break, WHO BROKE IT it usually the first question (keep in mind that could be a relative or friend of one or the other). Job losses.....One looses their job but the loan is still outstanding. additional expenses....buying the boat is cheap, using it is not. If one dont have the money yet the other does and that individual adds additional expenses that usually becomes an issue once they split Women....put simply the wife, gf, significant other who is not involved eventually becomes involved and the next thing you know...nobody is happy. Bottom line your better off buying your own boat, dealing with your own problems and at that point you will actually have more fun.
  12. Yea it seemed to slow down last couple of days. We got one brown yesterday nothing today. A few seemed to do quite well however most on the hooks were small to mid size. Still at least the water cooperated for the weekend..wasnt all that bad a loss
  13. I think anywhere in that range should be fine. Recently the fish have been in only 20 feet of water. Browns and small kings are the mix. If you have nk28's use em. Natural rebel's have been getting hits for us. You can also head out deep to 200 foot range. more out there too.. weather wise you should be good to go..
  14. I think one of the biggest draws of this site is the fact you can see them. And what is the point to closing it off?? its nothing more than a report on how your fishing day or trip went... The membership will grow based on the exposure currently here. The lou professionals already have their private forum. I recently joined because I read the trip reports section. lol...thats like closing all the lights and signs in the bar and just having a few people in a closed room way in the back lol....
  15. See I knew I should have gone out further lol. We were scouting the other day but we stopped around 130 lol...and I had one of my purple frogs going too lol
  16. Hey...any of you guys on here lol....come on lets use this thread to talk the "real deal"
  17. Well my battery went dead yesterday lol...she's a chargin now...
  18. I never ask nor care for any money when I take people. But when it comes to taking my two sons (20 and 23) I INSIST they pay for gas I raised those boys and the least they can do for the ole man is fill up my 210 gallon tank with 93 octane. Sad part is....they actually do that lol... I take care of the gas on this baby...She can run all Summer long on 20 bucks lol.
  19. It was awesome. Had a nice fire going outside and all of a sudden she popped up out of nowhere.
  20. We went out last night but didnt get a thing. Beautiful night for a ride. they were at the 20ft range for sure but seemed a little too docile. Just for laughs and giggles we went out to 125 ft. lol....should have stayed in around the 20ft range.
  21. lol thats the thing once you get one of these you learn the meaning of data hog lol..You can fill up a 500 gig drive in no time at all lol..
  22. That 2.5 hours is also based on usage and temp. I use mine all Winter long and the cold reduces the batteries some what. Plus when you turn it on and off alot that will effect it too. I use windows live movie maker which will do everything you need... samples of editing.. Winter MHS8MB7XQfo Fishing(will have alot more) P-W6hF-CnjU
  23. Boy today was a rough day. The ones that did go out didnt seem to do very much. good news is she calms down tonight and we should be good to go thru this week. Were gonna hit it tomorrow am
