  1. Am I reading this right? a 51.5 x24 caught on a 1/2 oz Mini Rattlin' Shad today? http://muskie2.outdoorsfirst.com/
  2. My son works at BJ's and just bought a 150 Qt Coleman cooler for $55.00 bucks. He said they were $70.00 bucks normally but members could get a coupon for $15.00 off. They're $175.00 from Cabela's.
  3. IMO Blue Sea Systems makes a great fuse block. Their Safety Hub 150 is a 10 circuit block. It's ignition protected and safe for gas powered boats. It has four 30-200 amp circuits and six 1-30 amp circuits. About $100 bucks.give or take. http://www.bluesea.com/products/7748/SafetyHub_150_Fuse_Block
  4. Perhaps the units sensitivity is set too high? The higher the setting is, the more clutter is shown on the screen. You can actually black out the screen if the setting is too high.
  5. Heh, I used to tell my wife, The Warden, that when she hit forty I was trading her in for two twenties.
  6. I always bring a grease gun and while I'm letting them cool down, pack them with grease before putting the trailer in the water. I figure if they're full of grease, less water will get at them.
  7. Miss Conduct (as in Game Misconduct)

  9. Thank you Big Water and sorry Don, I missed that in your post. Please forgive me, I was an offensive lineman.
  10. Is it true that before you enter canadian water you have to call a certain number to make a request and also have a passport with you?
  11. Chas0218 Thanks for the advise and I think I'll heed it. I'm going to stick with the original plans, why tamper with success?
  12. Excellent advice! And should you decide to rinse them off before you store them, tighten the drags down tight so dirt or salt doesn't penetrate them. Use gentle pressure from a hose or faucet to prevent the same. Never submerse in water or the bearings will rust quickly. I just replaced a $ 22.00 bearing in one of my levelwinds. And definately heed Sk8man's advice to dry thoroughly and back off the drags before storing.
  13. Capt Are you using spectra line and is there a possibility that the spool itself is contracting with the cold causing the line to spin around the spool when the temp drops?
  14. I would make sure that whoever services your reels uses Cals Drag Grease on the carbon fiber washers. Cals Makes a cold and warm weather drag grease. I've used Alan Tani's tutorials to break down my Penn's and replace and grease the drags. I also replaced the and dogs and springs in all of them. It's not that hard and makes a great winter time hobby. He's a great guy and would be more than happy to help you out with any questions you might have. http://alantani.com/index.php?topic=3236.0
  15. I wonder if you could use those folding table hinges instead of allthread rods to connect the boards. If you screwed them into the tops and bottoms of the boards then you could collapse the boards and fold them together. They're 9 1/2 inches fully extended and brass plated for rust. Just a thought? http://www.hardwaresource.com/hinges/FURNITURE+HINGES/Table+Hinges+-+Shelf+Hinges/9-1|2%22+Folding+Leg+Support
  16. These guys really know their stuff. http://alantani.com/index.php?board=11.0
  17. Thanks for all your great ideas. I'll run them by my two sons, we're an equal partnership...50%, 25%, 25%
  18. My 225 I/O ran great...until I forgot to put the plug in the boat! After she stalled, I pulled the cover off the engine compartment and when I tried to turn her over, one of the belts was kicking salt water straight up in the air. My wife, to this day claims I handed her the plug and said, "here" I don't remember that part though.
  19. And I thank you too Sk8man, I think I'll go ahead and buy the outboard to outboard kit then.
  20. Thank you FNSmachine... they have so many different kits available, I was a bit confused. But then again, I was an offensive lineman if you get my drift!
  21. I just bought a boat with a Mercury 150 Opti XL and a Mercury 9.9 ML kicker. I like the EZ Steer steering system but noticed on their website that they don't list the 150 Opti. Does anyone know if I can use this outboard to outboard system with my outboards? I've called twice and left messages and e-mailed also. I hate to waste $300 bucks if it won't fit. http://www.marinetechproducts.com/pages/EZFitGuide
  22. I just bought a boat with my two sons and our last name is Hayden so was thinking about menhaden. What do you think...too corny? howboutthosemets...apparition fishin?
  23. Alan Tani is THE BEST! Using his tutorials I broke down 8 Penns, relubed the bearings, and replaced the drags and dogs. On one of them, there was a small space between the spool and left side plate and with the eccentric lever in free spool, the spool would turn when I cranked the handle. I couldn't figure out what the problem was and it was driving me nuts. So after two days of interchanging parts from another reel, trying to figure it out, I sent Alan a PM and he answered back within 2 minutes with the solution. Then he sent me a dozen shims and didn't charge me a dime. He's a class act!
  24. That happened to me also with the same unit but noticed that we had the bottom set for a max of 60 feet and when went over 60 feet, the graph would show the difference between the max depth we had set and the actual depth. In other words when we were in 65 feet of water the graph would register 5 feet, 68 feet of water, the graph would register 8 feet. I think it's a setting you can adjust.
  25. Here's another option from Cisco. http://www.ciscofishingsystemsltd.com/shop/lund-mounts-5239
