  1. Here are links to MI NY Chapter 69 2014 Schedule of Events and Saturday, April 19th First Anual Awards Banquet. I want to thank everyone who helped along the way to get us through the first year.
  2. We have made it past one year and I am excited to announce our First Annual Awards Banquet. I want to thank all who have helped along the way to help make this possible. Steve
  3. I like the on with the fangs. I wouldn't feel too comfortable wading in that water!!
  4. I would be afraid to use it. It's bad enough to loose a fish but if a lure like that is in its mouth, it would be a heartbreaker. Although on the other hand, a few toothmarks on it woukd help to justify the price. I would definitely be tripple checking line and leader before using it.
  5. Years ago I went to Hay Bay several times for walleye and stayed at the Blakewood Lodge. They had tiny little cabins with bunk beds a sink from the 40s and some of the first refidgerators ever made. The main lodge had a dining room and kitchen and the owner lived on the other side. He was a chef and used to cook some awsome meals. He would do a fish fry one night that was to die for. I asked him how he cooked the fish. He told me the most important thing is to get rid of the skin, the lateral line, all the dark meat under the skin and the silvery membrane lining the internal cavity (that gets rid of all the gamy taste, not to mention much of the toxins). It helps to have a good sharp and flexible filet knife. He dipped it in an egg batter (egg with a little milk) and then in crushed cracker crumbs. He then pan fried it with about 1/2" of oil. No seasoning but I would imagine you could add whatever seasoning you prefer. I crushed up ritz crackers when I did it and it was just as good as his. It is important that the oil be heated up before you add the fish. I used canola oil. I don't know what temp I used but what I did is put a few drops of water in the pan and after it boils out I put the fish in. When the down side is brown I fliped it over and browned the other side. It should only take about two or three minuets on each side. Remove it from the pan and set it on paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
  6. Sorry Joe, The presentation was a spur of the moment thing that Jim decided to do since we did not have a guest speaker lined up.
  7. I was wondering about that too as well as the Raquette River. I would imagine there are some muskies in there but I was also wondering about how navigable they are.
  8. I don's see how they could possibly enforce it. They can't even manage to enforce the current regulations. But it would be a pain if they pick you to enforce it on. According to the proposed regulation, you are required to remove all plant and aquatic animal life and parts thereof from your boat (inside and out) and your trailer before you leave the launch. Usually at the end of a day of fishing, my floor is littered with bits of weeds. The only way it can be cleaned up completely is with a vacuum cleaner. I can see taking measures to minimize the spread of invasive species but if they were to enforce these proposed regulation to the letter, the only boats that will be on the water will be those that are kept there and maybe cartop boats.
  9. Sounds like a chronic condition!! Did you try counting muskies instead of sheep when you go to bed?
  10. The meeting is tonight at 700 PM. I apologize for not giving more detail in my previous message. The monthly meeting is always on the third Monday of every month, unless otherwise indicated, at the Moose Lodge at 5375 West Henriette Rd. in Henrietta NY at 7:00 PM. Hope to see you there!! Steve
  11. Maybe in a few years she will break the record. Maybe with her own fish.
  12. We had an executive board meeting Thursday night. We discussed many thing, including current issues and this year's agendas. The focus of Monday's meeting we will be going over all these things. Some of which , we will be opening for discussion and asking for input from the membership. I'm sure we will be opening up the floor for any new ideas or proposals from members.
  13. I would have liked to see it. I looked at the schedule and it is not on again.
  14. I'll ask Jim tomorrow if he got it. Did you send it to PO Box 10401 Rochester NY 14610?
  15. I have my cursor set so it glides with momentum and holding the shift key keeps it going in a straight line so it is like bowling. I can't seem to get them all in one sweep. The best I can do is all but 4 or 5. If I go to fast I get less.
  16. Our Mon, Dec. 16th monthly meeting at the Moose Lodge, 2290 West Henrietta Rd., will also be a Christmas party. We will have roast beef sandwiches and french fries supplied by the lodge kitchen. Feel free to bring a snack or desert. There will be a brief meeting and then it will be time to eat and socialize. This will be a good time to get to know other members better and talk about the past season, tell stories, share tactics, and talk about the seemingly distant next year's season. I hope to see you all there and if you can't make it, I would like to wish you Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. Stephen Glassic MI 69 V.P.
  17. I was going to mention Ice fishing. For trolling, finding the bait and small temp. changes are probably key. Using lures that will have good action at very slow speeds, concentrating on transitional areas and looking for even very slightly warmer temps. or warming temps. from daytime sun and creek runoffs on warmer days can help. When you find one fish you are likely to find more nearby.
  18. How about an inflatable PFD for smartphones.
  19. Be careful about that. The fish might start texting each other or maybe hack the system to get GPS locations of all the fisherman.
  20. Very nice!! Looks like nice water to fish. Also, it looks like the two bigger ones were caught in the same spot.
  21. Nice fish Mike. Looks healthy and well fed. Hope to see you at the meeting Monday.
  22. Looks like one of those days where you can put your hands in the water to warm them up.
  23. Justin, Here is what the signs the NMA put up around Buffalo look like. If you are planning on giving size limits on the signs, you might want to wait to see if the DEC approves raising the size limit to 40". I don't think that is going to happen til spring. If you haven't heard from Jim Kinner, The NMA president Scott Mckee might be able to help you with advice on sign design and possibly where to get them made.
  24. Beautiful tiger! pro-fish-n -c I am a member of Muskies Inc. Chapter 69 which we started in Rochester a little over a year ago. Since we are the only chapter in New York State, we are interested in working toward improving and enhancing musky and tiger musky fishing throughout the state. Therefore we are currently working at developing relationships and collecting data as a preliminary step to realizing that goal. The waters in your area, including Cross Lake are of interest to me for that reason. Since it looks like you fish those waters on a regular basis, I would be interested in any data, thoughts, observations or suggestions that you and other local anglers may have in relation to this subject. I would appreciate any input that you can give us in order to help evaluate possible improvements for the future. Feel free to PM me with your thoughts and concerns. Steve
