  1. Slightly curved, I think the bottom is about 8' since we made it from a couple sheets of marine plywood. Overall length is probably about 8 1/2 feet with bow and stern angle overhang. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. When I was a kid, my dad and I built this together. It was the first thing we built together. He hoped we would use it together, dad was a big hunter so it was painted a green camo color. I never really developed an interest in hunting like my brother so the boat ended up in Ohio with him for the past 30 years. A few years ago after my dad's passing, the boat made its way back to me. It's just been sitting in a corner of my yard and I'd like to have someone enjoy it with their kid(s). So if you have a kid or two and think you'll use it, make me an interesting offer. Having dad's dream fulfilled is my primary interest. Note: It always had oars here in NY so it was never registered here. Any form of motor in NY will require registering it as homemade.

  9. My Whaler 27 and I'm pretty sure the previous owner stored a 30' Sea Ray on it.
  10. The trailer is currently in Wilson, NY at Swans Marina parking area (to the left of the driveway leading to Bootleggers Cove Marina).
  11. 10,000lb Trailer for wide-beam boats New asking price $2,750 Hi everyone, I'm selling my trailer. It's registered at 10,000lb. As it is currently configured, it would best fit boats in the 28-32 foot class. It is built with a large C channel mobile home frame, spring, and axles wheels and tires and uses a 2 5/16" ball. The front axle has brakes. The winch is fitted with a strap. It has 1 new tire and the other 3 are older but road worthy. I cleaned and packed the bearings 2-3 years ago. The trailer was repainted about 5 years ago and overall it looks pretty good. This trailer is suited for wide beam boats 9-12' wide. I used it as a winter storage trailer and to move the boat to and from storage in the spring and fall so it has very little road mileage.

  15. Saw this today and remembered your post: http://continuouswave.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2191 I know it's not the 2000 or newer mercury you were looking for, but I thought it might be an inexpensive option.
  16. 23" end of loop to nose of fly is usually what I start the day with on 8" attractor. I have at least 1 shorter and 1 longer of every fly. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  17. "I'm retired and have a fixed income. I'm putting my son through college, so I have a small fishing budget. I am looking to buy rods and reels that I can use as dedicated walleye rods. I have bass fishing rods with spinning reels, four downrigger rods and two dipsy rods. I spend more money on tackle than on rods & reels." IMO, with a tight budget I would just use the rods and reels you already have and just swap in appropriate terminal rigging for walleye trolling on each rod. Your salmon gear may not be ideal, but it will work well enough for trolling for walleye. ________________________ Owner John's Custom Rods Specializing in building Great Lakes trolling rods since 1979 First place winner of the 2016 World Rod Building Challenge
  18. I have an older Miya Epoch. The reel operated like most reels, you lower the rod tip and bring in line. You would have to press the retrieve button lowering the rod and release the button with every lift or pump of the rod. You can't really just press the button and hold it until the fish is in the net. It would be like landing a fish with a rod in a rod holder and just turning the crank of the reel continually - not very productive. 3-4 lb. of drag on an electric reel is the same as 3-4 lb. of drag on a traditional manual reel. You have to fish it the same way. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  20. When the spread you started with no longer matches the mood of the fish. Feeding fish get a close tight pattern, neutral fish get a pattern more spread out, negative fish I cut back on gear and spread out more. As to colors, I generally start with white/glow/pearl tones in the morning and as the sunlight penetration into the water changes I'll trade in a few baits with more realistic bait colors like silver, greens, blacks. In low light it's about the fish being able to find your bait, in brighter conditions it's about your lure looking something similar to food. Sometimes, if the day is progressing per usual, I don't wait for a period of inactivity before I start adjusting. I'll make adjustments through the morning even if I'm still catching fish. I try to avoid waiting so long that a drastic or wholesale change is needed. Finally, I rarely leave fish to find fish without a very good reason. If the fish I'm on stop biting I'll think about my spread in 3 dimensional terms, not 2 dimensionally. Sometimes people focus on troll direction or lead lengths and forget to consider that the more active and feeding fish in your immediate area may have moved vertically in the water column, not for example, north or west...
