  1. See this once before at Sandy creek 20 yrs ago. We were fishing in a canoe when we heard a loud poof. Looked over at the launch and saw people diving in the water and a small open bow just rolling in flames. Scary stuff. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. Eagle feet I believe it's the name of the brackets I used that clamp to the gunnel. I bought them off eBay. You could mount aluminum or wood to them. Turn a couple screws and the whole bar slides right of the boat. Their slick. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  3. Sandy creek was horrible last couple days also. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I bought brackets that clamp to the side of boat. Then I bought 1/4" x 4" aluminum for the trolling bar and a couple feet up each side. I run two riggers on the corner, one dipsy forward of that each side, one rod holder each side forward of that for planer board, and one chute rod holder. I mounted traxtech tracks to the entire top of the trolling bar for moving things around. Probably cost me 3-4 hundred but it's solid, removable, and interchangeable with my big boat. 9. Someone just asked me what the torpedo weights are.... that's next to a mag spoon......... I like the rigger idea, that I haven't tried yet. To me these set ups are a great tough bite, East wind day, etc. I can't count how many times we ran over fish and almost timed when the torpedo in the background was going to get hit. The clip I use also has a "pin" in the middle to prevent losing a weight. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. I Have saltist 30's spooled with 30lb mono. I'm stepping up to 40's though for capacity. I run 50-100 feet of line out then Clio the weight and send another 200 feet out. If I'm in shipping lanes for steelhead I Lighten up the leader to 20lb. I can't remember the last trip they didn't produce fish. Last three outing when the temp is down 85-100 in running the big torpedo rated to 90 feet and their grabbing kings everytime. I also run the smaller ones for high lines. I fish allot with kids so coppers stay home and these are always swimming Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. Are you ever near spencerport/Rochester area?? I would take them if you were. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  12. Anything orange tipped in super slim or standard size. Also if you not running torpedo drop weights your missing out. All season they consistently land fish , usually multiple fish everytime. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  13. Headed out tonight with my daughter, niece, and youngest son. Definitely a little bumpier than I hoped but we were off. Set down in 250 fow and started dropping lines. 50 degrees down 85 ish. Started picking up bait right away and some decent hooks with it. After a couple good chasers we moved the riggers around and switched up the color's. Two min later bam fish on. Dialed in all the riggers and switched up to match colors and bam fish on again. At this point the screen just keeps getting better and it's a matter of time to smack a nice fish....... Then my son started puking all over the boat (somehow he misses all of lake Ontario) ........ That's a wrap until Saturday Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  14. Your dipsy set ups should have at least 700 get of line. Usually you'll stuff them out 175-350 feet then a big king will rip another couple hundred feet. Won't need the snubbers. When I have older gentleman on the boat I ran allot of drop weights. They get you down to the depth you need and they are allot easier to reel in than dipsy, copper, and lead core set ups. Best bet is to get on someone's boat and Let them show the equipment options and rough overview. Charters are expensive but worth it if you find a captain who enjoys teaching not just handing you a rod. In sure kicking in on fuel will get you out fishing. I would post that your looking to go out with someone local and post the fuel bill. Allot of guys like to teach Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  15. I'll be out tomorrow afternoon taking my daughter's out. I'll have channel 72 on if guys are out Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. What's the inside down temp 150 fow or so???? We caught fish last night in 250fow and 350fow. Last night even in 175 fow had 50 degrees down 140 feet. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  17. I was out yesterday and wrapped a downrigger cable in the kicker prop when I was trying to troll south. Current has been brutal to fight Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  18. I used my tractor's draw bar, but boat jack will work. Literally put the trailer hitch on ground, then block up rear tight . jack front as high as possible then block under the trailer jack and the front of boat. Keep repeating that till your boat isoff the trailer. Then you can paint every where and around blocking. Set the boat back on trailer and touch up where the supports where. Cinder blocks worked good and felt stable. I'm planning on ordering the boat jack stands. Definitely would be faster and safer. Once my boat was off the trailer I actually deflated the tires a bunch and that gave me an extra could inches of clearance. Only pain is when you want the trailer totally out from under the boat. Then you end having to pull troller until axles hit your blocking and work around that. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  19. Just did mine yesterday to repair my trailer. Lower tongue down, block up the rear, lift front high as possible. Then block that. I literally had a hair if the boat in the trailer. So I deleted tires a bit and that's a wrap. Took me 40 min with a cup of coffee in my hand. Sent from my XT1254 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
