We have 2 10 colors, a 8, 7, 5, 4 and two 3's that we run at varying times throughout the season. Devin was spot on, the 3 and 4 colors have been a great producer for browns and steelies early on, and we start to work the longer segments as the fish bump out. You dont really need line counters, as you can just let out all the lead and attach the backing to the planer board and send it out

Thanks for the input fellas. i'll tie in a fuse and go right to a battery, no perko switch for the bilge.... Any idea how to test that if the autp is working aside from filling the boat up w water?

I just removed a bilge and seperate float switch from my Penn Yan and started wiring in a new Rule 750GPH with the electronic autobilge built in.I have a 2 way bilge switch on the console Heres my question. I wired in the positive and negative wires that went to the old bilge right to the new pump, and it turns on and off witht the switch i have properly. There is a 3rd wire for the autobilge feature, and i cant figure out where to put it. I do have 2 capped wires from the old float switch, but i cant figure out where to put the auto bilge wire to get it to function properly. i understand the pump clicks on every 2 minutes to check for load, so i tried a variety of different setups with the bilge pump in a small bowl of water, and couldnt get it to go. I know this can be done with my current switch, as i had a similar setup on my last boat. It would auto pump if there was water, but i could flip the switch and turn it on if i wanted to. Any advice on getting the auto working would b much appreciated.

Alot of good advice on here. My rule of thumb is "never finance toys". Boats, atv's, snowmobiles, are all toys so if i dont have the cash to spend on it i dont buy them. Of course my atv is a 30 year old 3 wheeler, and my boat is 22 years old but i dont make monthly payments on either of them, and my bank account is that much heathier for it. Also rememeber, boats are alot cheaper in January when no one wants them.
