  1. Had a shoot the lights out walleye outing yesterday afternoon. Finally got a program together that seems to be productive- Feel like a kid at christmas! I have to thank LOU and and all of guys here who are so willing to share information.

First pass hook up with a 4 lb fish. Second pass, bouncer barely hits bottom and 6.5 lb fish. Caught a short and lost one near the boat. The action was fast and furious. Could not be happier!!! post-155409-14431816704832_thumb.jpg

  2. The new hybrid by eskimo is a great shack for the price if u r set on a flip style..... It incorporates the room of a hub style shelter with the convenience of a sled. Worth looking into. If u decide to go with a pop up..... Shappell widehouse is awesome value for $$$. Great features. Nice shelter.

  3. HT POLAR MITTENS!!! The rubberized exterior is great for keeping ur hands dry. They r oversized for eazy on and off at the hole (just flick ur wrists) and hand warmers fit perfectly inside. I love them and recommend to anyone seeking warm hands while on the ice. Good luck!

  4. I have been hunting in the Town of Cameron in Stuben County for about 22yrs (holy crap!). The deer heard seems to be really thinning out over the last decade. I believe a combination of poaching, over harvest, and a robust coyote population all contribute to this. The poachers on our property are just animals with no boundaries or ethics whatsoever. Shoot deer, cut off the head for the rack and leave body by road- very discouraging. I have also heard that the amish are tough on the deer but dont know this to be fact. That said, stuben cty is still the top deer harvest county in nys if memory serves. I have seen many, many 130" deer and larger taken from our property. As was pointed out, there is constant pressure on the deer from before early bow to after late muzzle. Can make it more challenging to lay that wily bruiser down. However, u r hunting in prime whitetail country. There are some trophy bucks in that area. Best of luck and be safe.

  6. Headed out for 2-3 hrs of bass fishing yesterday afternoon. The bass fishing was tough after some great fishing the last few days. However, I caught my first Sheep of the year which is always a treat on bass tackle. Actually caught 2 sheep on this outing. 5 and 6lbs. No complaints here!!!post-155409-14424346964406_thumb.jpg

  7. Great questions posed here. SLR EYES are certainly hearty. It would be cool if they were local to the river. Very interested in this topic myself and would be happy to volunteer time as well with any research/conservation projects. Wonder if Steve LaPann of the DEC might have some info on this topic? I know he has conducted in depth research on many river species to include Muskie......

  8. Thank you for the info guys.... Based on ur comments, Think im burning too much time in each spot. Easy to get sucked into the hooks that arent biting on the sonar. Also going to finally give BB a serious go. It seems to be a very productive method on the river. More productive than my methods so far😩. Keep u posted and thanks again!
