  1. Taughannock State park has permanent docks and runs a bubbler through the winter to keep the launch and marina ice-free. Like Darkwater said though, it gets low
  2. That should hold around 850' of SS wire, according to this calculator: http://www.pattayafishing.net/fishing-reel-line-capacity-estimator/
  3. If you run 1000' of stainless you shouldn't need to back it with much braid for it to fill your reel (assuming you're running a 30 class reel) - if you run 500' you'll have to back it. Make sure you fill your spool all the way or your line counter will not be accurate.
  4. Definately run either braid or Stainless Steel wire (30 lbs). There is too much stretch in mono to effectively trip the dipsies either when a fish hits, or when you want to change baits. If you run SS wire, make sure to install a twilli tip on the end of your rod, otherwise it will kink and break. Copper you just run straight (with a braid backer), as it sinks on its own without a directional planer (approx 20' down for every 100' out)
  5. What kind of fishing do you want to do? Jigging or trolling?
  6. x2 on this. Less is more, especially with you have a big king going ape sh*t behind your boat.
  7. Where are you located? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  11. Had a good mix of 2 yr old fish and still-bright matures offshore in 500-600 FOW this past weekend.
  12. Depends largely on the time of year. Early season west seems to be more consistent. This time of year, fish are piled into the eastern basin. Not to say they can't be caught everywhere, but that's the general pattern
  13. Bill - I work with a guy who knows the owner - PM me your number and I'll pass it along.
  14. Update: After talking to one of my coworkers who spends a lot of time down there, I believe its a wind-surfing mast, not a sailboat. Called the Sheriff's Office, they're out looking for it now. Be safe, good fishing.
  15. Was out on Cayuga last night and saw what at first looked like a white Cormorant sitting proud in the water... when we got closer, the target was identified as the top 18" of a sailboat mast at full sail! Must be during the flooding/rain someones sailboat got washed in and swamped. The boat was located just south of the entrance to Myers, maybe 100 yards from shore. With the wind, its possible that it blows in shallow, or into the Salt Plant. Just wanted to warn to keep an eye out. Chris
