  1. i thought it might be do to unstable water temp i have been in the trench 3 times and only once has there been a good thermo and caught 3 kings in 2,5 hours amazing what good temps can do .
  2. need more then just deer heads on the wall
  3. New to king salmon fishing but have been doing pretty well was thinking when the thermo is gone the kings dont really feed very well and get lock jaw. often i found there bellies empty so that being said i am looking for opinions on just what really pisses them off triggering a strike seeing there not actively feeding .thanks
  4. I have put spoons and meat rigs down only kings hitting witch is great but nice to fill the void i like to keep the rods firing !
  5. just got back home from the trench fished Thursday and Friday morning no thermo again i have been there 3 times in the last month and only once was there a good thermo the bight can be tough when you fish in bath water .found fish outside the high rocks mostly over the deepest water most bites came around 100 feet down on ff green in cooler and a few on green meat rig lots of fish around but slow bite .Ended up with 4 kings and 1 coho biggest was 28 lbs and landed a double hookup solo with 3 rods out and no net no tangles
  6. started fishing out of henderson harbor have made 3 trips so far have done pretty well with the staging kings and have caught a couple browns and 1 coho but have yet to catch a lake trout. i have caught a lot of them on champlaine but none in the trench i would have thought i would be picking up plenty of them . any advise would be great thanks
  7. So the fish must be in because the reports are coming very slow so i will give you mine new to henderson and king fishing but fished most of the day monday lots of marks in the trench very tough bight tried just about everything boated 1 nice brown around 7 pounds and right at dark boated 16 lb king on meat rig also broke one of on meat .The fish finder was loaded with arches i have never seen such a crazy screen with so few bights so crashed in the truck and back at it in the am had 1 knock off on ff right away then hooked up on ff behind pro troll /echip landed nice little 15.5 lb king solo .Got reset and before i new what happened hooked up again landed a 18 lb king on a homemade meat rig behind a spin doctor .Started trolling my way back towards the cut when all hell broke loose and found my self chasing down a screamer that took 550 feet of line on its first run after about 15 minutes a was able to get a 25.5 lb king in the boat after that i figured it must be time to call it quits and go get the treable hook taken out of my knee that i kneeled on when landing the first fish of the day .great day war wound and all !
  8. I went fishing out of henderson this past monday and tuesday took a couple hour break from fishing midday was approached by a navel servicemen out on leave and trying to do a little fishing .He was clearly new to fishing and went to henchens tackle shop seeking a little advice and some tackle. upon asking a few questions the guy working at henchens very rudely said to him your a sailor and have plenty of money just go hire a charter . The young servicemen was clearly upset about it and after he showed me the tackle they sold him they clearly had no intention of helping him neither. I myself went in there a week earlier experienced similar behavior. I felt the need to make this post as I was really bothered by the fact that a member of our military was treated so poorly, as they are the last people that should ever get disrespected. Fro now on I will be going to Fat Nancys where they are more than willing to answer my questions and sell me the proper tackle to get catch fish. I suggested the sailor do the same. You may also want to consider this as I caught 4 Kings on the tackle I bought there. Thank you to all of our service men and women for your sacrifices.
  9. summer time fishing can be tough if you cant find fish in deep enough water for them to have comfortable temps for them try to find the thermocline were it meets the bottom then look for bait and larger fish .
  10. your going to have to test it out with the prop you have if at base idle you are going to fast you would need to reduce prop pitch to go slower
  11. look nice please send me a pm so i am shur to see the picks my browns in the freezer and i took photos of going to get it done if i dont catch something better before snow flies thanks. eric

  13. they great cove one looks good but that atlantic
  14. by looking at your screen i would say that its marking plenty of fish thats what those arches are you probably have fish id switched off most guys that have been fishing for sometime just turn it off anyway . go into menu and look for fish id function and see if its shut off you dont need to be on the water to ck it in menu good luck.
  15. thanks for the info just got mine in the mail today look cool bought chrome /blue ,army truck, and police car look very fishy cant wait to ck out the action on them allways looking for a secret weapon .
  16. one more thing always use fresh leaders the sun and water will stain your floro leader and in clear water the fish can see it i caught like 15 stripers well chunk bait fishing in a chum line my buddy never had a bight until i made him put a new floro leader on then he started catching right away fish have great eyes .
  17. i have fished for everything from smelts to giant blue fin tuna i wouldnt fish without floro leader i have done my own testing on it with clear water fish in a chum line behind the boat and floro will out fish mono 10 to 1 plus floro will not brake if nicked as easily as mono .
  18. i like braid for a main line less stretch seems to stick them better when they hit the release and comes tight much quicker then mono
  19. get ride of any small treble hooks and install single hooks also softer tipped rods help make sure strike drag is not to heavy and keep boat speed the same until after striking the fish if its rough out your going to loss more good luck .lost a screamer yesterday
  20. the trench and stony point light are out of henderson bay just south of water town use the town boat launch go under the bridge witch is called the cut turn left go about 1 mile and you are in the trench very short boat ride nice area .
