  1. I tried a budys copper rig and caught a king but did not like it at all like fishing with leadcore just no fun torpedos run deep with next to no resistance and then you can remove and fight the fish as well as the are directional .I realize a lot of guys use copper but not for everybody !GOOD LUCK AND TIGHT LINES
  2. Should be able to but power wash sand and clean with acetone
  3. I really like torpedo divers but a tadpole might be a better choice behind a board .
  4. Note you can get bottom paint for towed boats just be shur to buy the correct one.
  5. You would need to sand then clean with acetone but most bottom paints are designed for boats that are left in the water all year so there is really no point to bottom paint due to there is a type of living enzyme in it to fight algae and that stops working when the boat is left out of the water .
  6. I would strongly suggest trim tabs that are adjustable well under way you will find them very helpful due to changing weight loads and sea conditions that you will have and help with roll due to a v hull with a torque steer issue that you have .
  7. I like 30 lb braid for main line then floro leader last much longer then mono and much less likely to break due to wear from rigger clips also better hook up ratio on strikes due to no stretch .
  8. THANKS Just wanted to say thanks to all those that share there fishing tips as well as to the staff at fat nancys for sharing valuable info on tackle and techniques on how to catch the great fish lake o has to offer .I know all to well how much longer it can take to become a really good fishermen when no one wants to share any info as i found out back in my bluefin tuna fishing days .thanks for sharing !

  10. As gambler said you cant trust mass produced products when it comes to fishing line i have bought some meat rigs that when i shock test with bare hands they brake like ten pound test .I always rebuild them myself.

  15. I have tested dr juice as well after aj,s bait and tackle recommended it and found it works and well trolling for bluefin tuna the fish can tell the difference between fresh and frozen bait 10 to 1 and thats trolling around 5 mph .Dont kid your self fish can smell just try berkley gulp versus plastic baits and you well see.
  16. best use of that nob is to set it so that when real is in free spool with clicker switched off you can pay out line to desired distance without backlash .when sending out a dipsy use the clicker and thumb the spool until you reach the desired distance .
  17. I HAVE 1 RIGGER WITH BRAID AND THE OTHER IS WIRE AND THE BRAID HAS HAVE THE BLOW BACK AS THE WIRE .WISH I COULD USE BRAID ON OTHER RIGGER BUT NEED CABLE FOR DEPTH RAIDER .
  18. swr hybrid Looking to try a new swr set up really hate leadcore for many reasons but like the concept behind a swr set up was wondering if any body has tried using a small tadpole diver in place of 3 colors of leadcore behind down rigger ball ?
  19. I have a fox pro and a turbo dog by Primos and have called coyotes in with both i do like fox pro better though that being said a good call is not cheap .make shore that remote range is at least 100 yards as coyotes all ways come in on down wind side witch makes them very hard to kill .Also a good sound library of coyote vocals and distress sound and a hot button to program coyote pup in distress to so that you can bring them back after they spook it is very effective all year long.,
  20. hunted all my life and never a issue with a wood stock and i do hunt i all weather conditions .wood has a much better feel to it no so cheap feeling ,less recoil and is quit in woods .synthetic is very loud if a sapling or any thing else bumps it .
  21. i have seen coyote spoons use the extra blade and were very productive
  22. just bought okuma magna pro 8ft 6 downrigger combo with line counter for 54 .00 at Walmart cant bet that deal . i have caught alot of fish with them with no issues including kings
  23. with your painting skills you might want to look into doing fish replicas for people it would pay much better .nice work
  24. well i still run both i find most spoons have to small of a treble hook and the fish can twist off to easy a good single hook will hold large fish much better in my opinion .with a meat rig i will run a high quality treble of large size for kings seems to work well .
