  2. We haven't had an update since March 2023. Have you got it done yet? I bought an 87 17' Rinker metal boat with a non-running 115 HP Johnson motor that was still in fabulous condition for a boat that old, even the bow cushions are still in great condition for only 800.00. Getting the motor was another 565.00. For less than 1400.00, I have a beautiful old boat that looks like a new boat with minimal wear on the inside. I guess I've owned close to 100 outboards over the years, but this 115 is the smoothest running and sounding motor I have ever owned. This one was even better than the old 18' Cherokee I bought and got ready for Erie, though it was a better Erie boat than this one. The Cherokee was fun getting ready, but I'm just not as nimble as I was back then. Bottom line, if you can do the work, restoring an older boat can be so much fun and feeling so much pride in getting it done without spending a small fortune. If you keep your eyes open, their is some good buys out there on some nice boats once they're done.
  3. You might check the Facebook Marketplace. But don't trust anyone and only pay for goods with a service like PayPal or Cash APP so your money is protected if you get scammed. I found out the hard way not to pay friends and family, so now I only pay for goods and haven't had any problems paying that way.
  4. I'm not sure this will help, but it may. I don't think the weather has been warm enough or long enough to cause the thermocline to have set up yet. But you must understand this is just my opinion. But you should get a confirmation from others that knows for sure.
  5. I like the front steering over the EZ STEER, but to each his own. I do use an ez steer on my Mercruiser outdrive to my kicker, but it's the only way I know that works.
  6. I have a Panther steering kit that I paid 20.00 on here, but never used it. If I can still find it, it has a rod that can be bent to the way you want it, but I will ship it to you for 20.00 including the shipping cost. I will never need it as I'm running a Mercruiser with a kicker and use an EZ-steer to steer it. Another thing I suggest is to go to eBay and do a search for an outboard to outboard steering rod or a kit. You can see a lot of options.
  7. Brocraft has aluminum gimbels with downrigger low profile swivel bases already mounted, If you want to look at them, look on Amazon.
  8. I would just use risers to get above the cushions and mount them back as far as possible, and use a board to go across the back and mount riggers, and go with a good, solid adjustable rod holder. I use the Cannon single axis ratcheting holders for walleye fishing on Erie. But you have a great selection of adjustable holders that don't ratchet, but I wouldn't use anything else.
  9. No way can I buy them if you won't ship! I live too far away, all the way down in eastcentral Indiana. But if you change your mind about shipping, I would really like to buy them. Shipping is very easy, just find a box big enough for both weights and take them to the post office, and ship them priority mail, that i pay for. If you don't have PayPal, I can mail you a check or money order for the total for weights and shipping.
  10. How much do you want for the 2 10# fish weights with shipping with priority mail? Priority mail, you can ship up to 70# for the same price as 1# because they charge for the size of the box. It's been a while now, but I shipped over 60# of flat lead for under 10.00. if your willing to ship, I'm very interested in the 2 10# fish weights.
  11. It makes me cry when we plan to go up to Erie this year at 10 MPG, going 360 miles each way. We may have to cancel the trip altogether. But boat gas will be much better now than when we used my old boat and trolled with my 350 Vortec, than using the new too-us boat, trolling with a 9.9 4-stroke Mercury. But we will still have to use the 350 260 HP to run in and out 10 to 16 miles each way and every day we fish. My wife and I are both on a fixed income
  12. LOL, you can say that again! At 74 and been boating since 77, and I haven't even learned that lures are designed to catch fishermen and not fish, but if they catch fish, it's a bonus, LOL.
  13. You're always better off buying new if they are in your budget. Not putting buying used down, but you still run the risk of getting a lemon. The very old cannons that came on the used boat my son and I bought are still working great. If you buy used, just make sure, as sure as you can, that they are working when you buy them. You could get used that will work for years or puck on you the first season! Usually, if they run when you get them, they should make you a great set of riggers.
  14. I want to say thanks for letting me know. When I looked at your post a few days ago, I thought I would come back and buy it later, but being old, I forgot about it until I saw it again, which proves ( WHEN YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE )
