Deadbait Trolling

Recommended Posts

I have always believed that the bait needs to spin to get more bites. Some days I question my thinking!!

Here is the way I do it, but eager to hear other thoughts as well.

A good ball bearing swivel behind your flasher, then a 2 hook rig on the sawbellie or other bait. One hook in the lip that you can slide so that you can sinch it down to bend the bait a little bit. The other hook near the tail. I also cut the tail off in a diagonal so that it spins better.

Here is a pic on Familiar Bite I got from Reeljerks. It shows how the rig should be set up. Look at the curve in the tail. This helps the bait to spin. I am no expert on thie but ReelJerks and Fishstails run this setup.

Im gonna give this one a go. Many years ago on moosehead lake I was instructed by an older gentleman on a method of actually rigging an alewife that kept a natural, and i mean NATURAL, swimming action behind a cowbell. Im willing to share for once, as i dont fish bait any longer, but its too damn long to type on this post(its really late). P.M. or email me and id be willing.
