Volvo Engines

Was wondering what people thought about Volvo engines and outdrives? Never personaly delt with them as I have always had Mercruisers. I have heard both bad and good about them. Also heard that could be hard to find parts if needed? Any feedback would be great either good or bad!! Thanks Alot!

i have a 2005 carbed 3.0 liter. the only problem so far is it came with a holly carb. Hank tuned it and its much better. never had a problem with the outdrive. i like the way goes in gear, very smooth.

Volvo are same engine to me as a mercs.. the outdrives are bulletproof IMO...

BTW, I am running an aq260 with a dp 290 outdrive... Love them.

I have also heard that the parts are very expensive if something does go wrong

I have never had to fix it but Hank said they are more than mercs to fix. like lakebound said the engines are about the same. the difference is the outdrive and they are smooth.

My 225 I/O ran great...until I forgot to put the plug in the boat! After she stalled, I pulled the cover off the engine compartment and when I tried to turn her over, one of the belts was kicking salt water straight up in the air. My wife, to this day claims I handed her the plug and said, "here" I don't remember that part though.
