fire line as backing?

I have some Cabelas Depth master gold DMG 25's with fireline on them. I bought some Ande 30# pink line. I was thinking of taking off 600' or so of the fire line and putting the Ande on top. Is this a good idea and what connection knot should I use....there's quite a difference in diameter?
