Fish Finder help

Been looking to upgrade my fish finder and I am down to either Garmin or Lowrance. I have liked Lowrance but reading a lot of negative reviews on the Hook2 7 tripleshot units and some even on the splitshot units. The Garmin are about the same $$ and haven't seen many negative reviews on them. This is sort of like the old debate either Chevy or Ford but just trying to get some info before I spend a good chunk of $$. Thanks in advance.
