Hammered the smallies on boards with my family in Wilson Bay. Ran medium sized huskies right down the center of the bay and could not keep them off the lines.

I was out Sunday night joy riding near Cape Vincent and saw some streaks of lightning and started to head in casually to the dock when I got a serious wake up call. On my way in I hit the most hardcore face of weather Ive ever experienced in my life on the water. I was in near glassy water when the head of the storm instantly pushed 60+ mph winds and the thickest wall of rain imaginable my way. I turned the boat around and hid behind an island and docked on someones dock. It lasted for all of about 15 minutes but it felt like hours. So humbling. When we hit the dock I was shaking like a little kitten but my buddies were celebrating with hive 5s, whistles, and beers. I just chain smoked some cigs. UNREAL!

state record pike ---Hoaxes
Kingfisher06 replied to HOLY DIVER's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
Oh Yea thats a pike caught in Europe and I would guess Sweden if my memory serves me right. Their Pike/perch/wallye(zander) grow so much bigger because the food base for these predators in Europe are primarily minnow type fish (soft ray fish) instead of our perch/crappie/bass/sunfish etc. spiny rayed forage that are more difficult to digest in terms of energy expanded. Now...forage bases have shifted here (alewives (soft ray)) and now we are begining to grow some of the largest walleyes on average any where. I saw that pic on the cover and didnt even open the flier because I was so confused on why they would put that on our local fishin mag. -
Fished shallow off grenadier island for smallies and had a nice surprise when we hooked a 7lb wally in 12 ft of water. Had quite a few doubles on the smallies. The wally hit a shallow blue challenger off a board 100' back.

Ive never tried it but I thought Culling was a pro-am rule...I thught DEC was a possesion rule..time to hit the books...we are always helpin each other someone or another..tight lines
-
The smaller ones taste better...hehehe....I know of so many folks that abuse limits and I try so hard to tell them that DEC cannot manage fish populations with thier statistic based approach if they do this. If I press too hard they disassociate themselves with me and I receive no inside info from these very knowledable locals. Its sad and spineless of me but i try hard. The best way to teach is by example. LOUSER conservative ways will rub off on some! (I dont mean Ray should rub one off on someones boat) Great report isabell and get you tablefare!

Try the east end of Carlton for pike theres a good weedy head there and you may may run into a serious alligator
-
There is a launch right there and a free launch SW of there 1/4 mi. That free launch is harsh. Shangri-la's launch is something I've never tried but it has to be better than the free launch with a west wind. I talked to my buddy and he said their effiencies are very clean, but remember he works for them. Sounds like a unbeatable price and he talked of them highly. The fishing is up to you. This isnt oneida...pros get skunked...look at the last MWC standings for Henderson...pros and locals alike caught empty buckets during that tournament and other locals set records for the entire history of the MWC. Just run your boards with various deep diver and shallows with various snap wts and colors until a pattern emerges for the day troll. come armed with a harness program. Dont be lax on the dusk dawn bite...it will make or break a day.

Those pike are like ants out there. Such a nice place. Thats a great pike. -
No walleyes but was marking fish off Clines Pt and did one brown near the head of PT Penisula on a shallow runner in 30 ft of water. The wallys are not treating me well this weekend at all. Trying mud bay tonight, I need some luck.

walleye trolling question...
Kingfisher06 replied to Landshark's topic in Musky, Tiger Musky & Pike (ESOX)
fished Oswego Last night and caught 1 brown and no walleyes. There was no wind until around 1am. I think that hurt our chances. What are some favorites colors for stickbaits. I was using orange, clown and shiner rapala stickbaits last night. Do you think downsizing lure size on calm nights is a good idea?
