  1. Saw something like that 35 yrs ago in a funiture store but wife got huffy when I tried to buy it for the kids crib. Tom B. (LongLine)
  2. Fishstix Next time I see this guy taking up 14 parking spaces at the launch, I'll ask him where he got it. Tom B. (LongLine)
  3. Outboard vs straight inboard, I don’t know. But I’ve owned both I/O (Mercruiser) & outboard (Evinrude & Merc’). I'd go back to an I/O but ONLY if someone gave it to me AND my current 22 yr old 2-stroker fell off my transom in 300 FOW. (maybe over 280) Knock on wood, the only thing I’ve had to do to it was replace two tilt modules plus the normal maintenance. I.E lower unit lube, plugs, occasional fuse. You do have to watch you’re oil mix with a 2-stroker though. 50-1 is too rich for a lot of idling & will foul you plugs after a few weekends. Of course they don’t make things like they used to anymore, with the new technology out there, who knows? Come on Spring, This shoveling s()cks. Tom B. (LongLine)

  6. Tom Pitsford Lumber in Schoen Place (Pittsford off Monroe Ave) has every type of wood you could imagine and will cut and plane it to what ever you want. Hardwoods, softwoods, exotics, "weird" stuff. Little pricey but if you don't have a wood working shop in the basement, well worth it. Tom B. (LongLine)
  7. NYF - BlueEye hit it. His computer "blew its cookies." I had same problem initially then my son set browser to not auto-blow them away. Guessing a paper bag under the keyboard might help. Tom B. (LongLine) "Blowing cookies" - "Calling Ralph" what's the difference...

  9. Turp, Drums in I-Bay get huge & there's quite a few of them. Especially around the big bridge & E side. Tom B. (LongLine)
  10. That's better than "Trolling Rock". Give us some detail. size, type of boat, Where you fish out of, favorite specie, etc... "Rock-it Troller"? naah, that's YT's bass boat. Tom B. (LongLine)
  11. I listen to the downriggers humming  Tom B. (LongLine)
  12. I agree with Iceman & YT. Black's for me. I put a post up back there someplace on how to rig them on a coated Sub-T cable. I have some pinch pad type releases that I use for a stacker on the coated cable but they're a pain to remove if you have a fish on the lower one and are trying to clear the rigger, especially if you're out solo. 13. Mother Nature might have the food web solution if she’d restrict the invasives to this diet and not allow the natives to partake of it. oh well, dream on… Tom B. (LongLine)
  14. Here's something to read & smile about from Leeroy Wisner. I'm sure a lot of us have seen some of them. http://www.wisnersinc.com/Fishing%20Inf ... ations.htm Tom B. (LongLine)
  15. Only thing good about them is that they’ll eat water fleas. http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/pubs/photogal ... mysis.html http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/pubs/brochures/hemimysis.pdf Tom B. (LongLine)
  16. Well, it started out as only going to make a new center rod holder, as I couldn’t find one that I liked, trusted or had a reasonable price. Then a 2nd, then a 3rd. Then how to recess the scale, then how to add a front extension, then how to beef up the hinges. Hmm…what the heck started all over… I figure about $85 for materials (not including the swivel bases or scale) and the majority of that for stainless screws & nuts. Come on spring, Tom B. 17. Fishinman I replaced the entire wood floor in my boat 2 years ago after 20 yrs. It had rotted out around the floor compartment/storage hatch. I figure moisture sat around the aluminum trim opening and was trapped. I bought ¾â€Â
  18. Stix - The guys had some very good points however I didn't particpate as I was too busy checking out a deal on Navy surplus Sonar buoys on E-bay, instantaneous cellphone datalinks to NOAA's bathemetry/hydrological satellite and encrypted radar updating to SeaGrants 2007 Big-O Salmon Telemetry Tracking project. 19. Here’s an interesting article from the west coast by LeeRoy Wisener on preventing your fishing buddies from leaning overboard and "calling Ralph" i.e. sea sickness cures/prevention. http://www.wisnersinc.com/Fishing%20Inf ... kness.html Some say a screaming drag will do the trick but the only guaranteed cure that I ever found for friends was to have them hug the biggest tree they could find. 20. Personally I like WD-40 as it definitely keeps the fleas off my light line. Regardless, here’s some interesting stuff from a West Coast guy: http://www.wisnersinc.com/Fishing%20Info/Scent.htm Tom B. (LongLine)
  21. I'm guessing the preyfish are going to have a great winter but come summer we're going to see some problems as FB' said. Polish up the heavy cannonballs because I think we're going to need them to go a little deeper & a little earlier this year. Tom B. (LongLine)
