What's predicted to be bad about this one is that it's going to be directly out of the north. Great majority of our storms come out of the west. As I remember Agness came more out of the south. trees have grown accustomed to strong wind from the west & have root structure etc for that. North is something else. At least the great majority of tree still have the sap in them. Everyone please be safe whereever you are, Tom B. (LongLine)

I've never seen them predict them this big out of the north before. 15-18's yes, 22's no. I hope no one is still in at the River. Tom B. (LongLine)

I don't believe they said they "released it." Looked to me like that beast never got landed. Tom B. (LongLine)

And then you post a pic of a $400K rig with triple 300's???? You gott'a be kidding me. The one I want is one that my wife would be willing to out on Lake Ontario on with me; with all care, maintenance, upkeep & storage taken care of by someone else. Something parked on the water where all I'd ever have to do is drive up to it, unhook it and go anytime we feel like it and never have to worry about getting back. Tom B. (LongLine) ...dream on...

Back in march-april they started cutting it back. Problem was we got rain in big bunches. Then had 3-4 weeks with nothing. Tom B. (LongLine) -
Have you been HOSED by marine repair shops

I'd been struggling with mine for quite a while. (It almost turned into a joke. That's why I posted the DIY in the comic section.) Anyways - took it to Hank and he found a couple things that I never would have found. I can't say enough about the great job he did. Tom B. (LongLine) -

Biggest Problems for Great Lakes Fisherman????

More on Invasives: - Anybody really enjoy their last encounter with spinny water fleas? - How about the bait fish regulations? - Anyone have to clean Zebra muscles off their lower unit? - Anyone snag a bunch of Quaggas while searching for Lakers? - Where-oh-where have all the smallmouth gone? - Cleaning hydralia off the prop is a lot of fun isn't it? - Hopefully we'll never have to wear full body armor when fishing Tom B. Yes - if you want to maintain the same basic action. i.e. go around in circles Somedays speed is everything. On Big-O, usually a fast dodger requires a longer lead. Tom B. (LongLine)

NEO - One of the reasons a lot of guys have gone away from dodgers is that they are basically speed intolerant. Once you go over about 3 mph they will spin in big circles rather than the lazy back & forth movement. Tom B. (LongLine)

You can get up to Vet's bridge without any problem. I caught a walleye once up there on a J-plug. Tom B. (LongLine) -

Ray - I can understand that. Have you looked at a kicker????? (or is that the wife's department?) Tom B. (LongLine) -
Be careful Tim...They might win a game in December ...not! Tom B. (LongLine)

Just speed up a little. Amazing how big of a circle they'll swing. Tom B. (LongLine)

Biggest Problems for Great Lakes Fisherman????

Invasives. Unfortunately many things can be traced back to them. Cost of gas is too much for me...WHY is the cost of gas too much for you?...Because I have to spend too much to get to the fish...WHY do you have to spend too much?....Because the fish are further off-shore (or not in my normal fishing area)...WHY are the fish so far off-shore (or not in your normal area?)...Because the bait fish have moved....WHY have the baitfish moved?...Food web disruption - due to invasives. Tom B. (LongLine) -
Hey Pete - That because it made a lot of noise and no action? Tom B. (LongLine)

Yep. & today is last day for Lakers on Big-O. Tom B. (LongLine)

Wonder where Tebow is going to line up? Couple plays at Left Tackle maybe... eventually they'll find a position for him. It should be a better game than watching the Bills get trounced by the Pats. 49'rs pretty good defense. 49'rs 24 - Jets 13. Question is, whether the Packers are going to finally get it going? Also looking forward to Philly getting beat - unfortunately, that'd give the Jersey Girls another win. Tom B. (LongLine)

Did some research on water outflow thru the St Lawrence. Here’s some comparative data 2011 vs 2012: http://ijc.org/conseil_board/islrbc/en/publications.htm (These are when changes to outflow was made. Changes are not made on the same day every year.) During Jan-May of 2012 they allowed higher outflow than same period in 2011. Then in middle of May they reduced outflow to less than the 2011 levels. 1 cubic meter is approx 264 gal. Therefore, (approx) 8,000 m = 2.1m gal & 6500 m = 1.7m gal. The question is whether it was reduced enough. (Obviously not, for us boaters & fishermen) Interestingly, the level of the Great Lakes is only controlled at Lake Superior and at the St Lawrence. I.E. Flow over Niagara is not controlled. Calculated out, the flow over Niagara Falls is typically only 704K gal/sec. http://www.niagaraparks.com/media/geolo ... gures.html However, the low level of Erie has lowered this figure. Lake Ontario “picks-up†a heck of a lot of water from precipitation, run-off, ground water, etc, which unfortunately hasn’t been much this year. If I remember correctly, precipitation this whole year has come from just a few 2 or 3 day storms with 3-4 weeks in between. Tom B. (LongLine)

During egg collection runs, the DEC at the Salmon River hatchery records/monitors all Kings as to natural or stocked. They look for clipping & nose tags. As they had over 5K kings, I doubt very much whether they had the time to rip open the gills of each one and counted before they stripped them. They do not throw back the ripe Natural Kings. Rather, they take eggs/milt from them also. Per the 2011 Lake Ontario Annual report: So what happens if the father and/or mother were crossbred? Some 2nd or 3rd generation crossbred Kings clipped by the mass marking trailer? Tom B. (LongLine)
