  1. Where did the legend of bananas being bad on the boat start? Hint: It's not fishing related. Kudos to who can answer without looking it up on the web, if it's even on there.
  2. Capt. Bob, I'm not sure I understand your point. If I have to drive to Narby's or Captain's Cove to sign up then you can be fairly sure I'm gonna drop $ 100 or $ 200 on lures, spin doc's, etc. while I'm in the store. I have done in the past and unfortunately for my wallet probably always will. Then if I have to weigh in I'm back for a second time probably spending more money. I'm not asking for a separate weigh station, just allow us to enter and fish out of Sandy. We will drive to the Oak and support the business while we are there. Anyone else from Sandy please feel free to comment.
  3. Why not consider allowing boats from other ports to enter (particularly Sandy Creek). We fished two of these types of tournaments based out of the Oak last year and I know others from Sandy that did as well. I think your eliminating a fair number of boats that are docked in Sandy and don't want to pull their boat to fish a one day tournament.
  4. The current leader is a lake trout, not a salmon.
  5. Thanks for passing that title on to me Scott. It's the truth unfortunately. I haven't been so frustrated in years. Hearing Joe catch fish around me every time I'm out kills me. Maybe I can shift the black cloud back your way this weekend.
  6. bump I know a lot of guys were out of town this weekend and might not have seen this. Say what you want about lakers, that's one hell of a fish.
  7. That thing is a hog. Makes the 20lb I got look like bait. To bad the guy didn't spend 25 bucks.
  8. Great job. Taking him straight to shore instead of running to the docks probably saved him. Nice brown in those last couple of shots.
  9. Well my search for tarpon didn't goes as planned this year. The numbers of fish weren't in yet and the wind blew everyday. If you think the wind is bad here, imagine it blowing every day for 10 days at 25 mph, very frustrating. We spent most of our time chasing snook and redfish. I landed this beauty the next to last day on a Zara Spook. Probably the biggest one I'll ever get in my lifetime. The short guy is our guide Joe Harley of Snooktown Charters. Great guide if anyone is ever looking for someone in the Pine Island/Matlacha area.
  10. Call Fish307.com and give them your serial number of the rigger. There are 2 or 3 different cords. Installing the cords is fairly easy. Remove the motor cover and the motor and cords have a quick connect inside (at least mine did). It's not hard if you have the correct cord. The main issue is that cord on some models goes in the side and some go in the bottom. Again the guys at Fish307 are a great help. Good luck.
  11. Splitshot-I think you're thinking of Kerry Collins not Kurt Warner. Warner went to Northern Iowa. GO STEELERS.
  12. I have an almost brand new Yamaha 15 Hp 4 stroke for sale. I bought it for my small boat and never used it. There is literally less than 2 hours on the motor, it is still in it's break in period. It would make a perfect kicker motor. I could never some up with a way to mount in on my Wellcraft though. I'm tired of looking at it sitting in my garage. Comes with 6 gallon fuel tank. I'm asking 2K or BO.
  13. A short video of my father during my trip to Southwest Florida last year. The first minute is pretty boring fly casting then all hell breaks loose. Nothing like a 75 lb tarpon almost jumping in the boat.
  14. I'm setting myself up for a bashing here but you guys sound like a bunch of old farts complaining about the government and how 10 bucks is going to break your bank account. If it takes 10 bucks to insure the trout and salmon stocking programs remain in place I'm all for it. PA did the same thing years ago to support their steelhead stocking programs. The flip side could be that we don't pay anymore money and they cut back or eliminate the stocking program. I don't think any of us would care for that.
  15. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm not sure what he will score I should have the rack back today. I'm guessing only about 100. He didn't have much for brow tines and he pretty narrow at the tips. He was definately swollen up and ready to fight. When I saw him Sunday he was right behind a doe with his nose to the ground (I actually had a smaller 7 point follow right behind him on Sunday as well). Hopefully I'll be shooting some more nice bucks the next month, they will only be with the video camera though.
  16. After letting some decent ones walk early last year and ending up with nothing I decided to take this guy at 25 yards Monday night. I was at full draw on him early Sunday morning but couldn't make a good shot. He obviously wasn't spooked because he was back less than 36 hours later.
  17. Has anyone had to buy one recently? I'm trying to find the best price online. Thanks.
  18. Scott if you take the other Keith out this weekend under no circumstance do you want to get into a conversation about what he does for a living. He's a good fisherman but he will make your head spin with stuff about RNA and DNA, that no one with an IQ under 180 can understand. You've been warned. Good luck this weekend.
  19. I'll be in, but not until Monday. Nephews first B-Day out of town this weekend. Save a few bigs one for me when I get back.
  20. A slow steady pick this morning, we ended up 8 for 15. Mostly steelhead with one nice 20+ king. Fished 230-260. All spoons and color didn't seem to make much difference. A solid gold NK was probably the hottest. Most fish on cooper out 350 and fixed sliders off the 60 foot rigger. Sounded like everyone was doing okay, some better than other.
  21. Tough morning to say the least. 3 and 4's from the east with an occasional 5 thrown in, 45 degrees and rain. We managed 3 lakers and didn't hear of a whole lot else being caught. Pulled the plug about 9:00 am, along with most other boats after being soaked and tired of bouncing. Temps are good (44-46) and color is perfect. Hopefully the forecast is right and things will lay down for the morning. With the water conditions it should be really good this weekend.
  22. Gator and I got out after work last night for a few hours. We ended up with about 30 fish including 8 or so jumbo. All on minnow under floats fishing really shallow (2 feet or less). The highlight of the evening though was the beaver that swam into Gators line and proceed to try and spool him after he was hooked. I think he should have tried to land him, everyone needs a little beaver on there rod once in a while.
