  3. When those blood thirsty flys start chewing on your ankles through your socks I don a second pair of socks...preferably a pair of nylon dri-liner types. Those teeth aren't long enough to get through two pairs. Dr. Lou

  5. Fished this tourney as a member of team Bandit. First of all I want to thank Ron Jacoby and his committee for putting on a very successful day in the little hamlet of Texas, NY. Thanks to Bob Hibbert and Bob Clark for doing the weigh-in and to Mike and Beth D'Alonzo and all the other sponsers for making this a very enjoyable tournament. Over 90 boats participated! I have a few suggestions. The published time for the captain's meeting was 7:30 PM Friday night. I got there at 7 PM just in time for the 50:50 drawing. By then the meeting was over. What happened here? If there were changes in the weigh-in time the message may not have gotton to every team. We understood fishing was to end at 2 PM and you had to be in line to weigh your fish by 3:30 PM. We weighed in at 2:45 PM and coolers were still being weighed until 3:30PM. So glad food was ready by weigh-in time. This really smoothed out the food line as people could eat as they weighed in their fish. No waiting. Picnic was good and plenty of it! Awards ceremony took place in a timely fashion. Congrats to Trout One for their first place finish. Overall our team had a great time and I hope there will be another LSR Challenge next July. Lou Calabrese
  6. I had the same problem on my old Sportcraft. A call to Scotty revealed they are not designed for dipsey diver rod holders as there is too much torque on the teeth of the holder. I would suggest Big Jon's Heavy duty rod holders or Bert's wratchet-type. Lou
  7. I am interested in changing my wire line dipsey rods over to roller rods. Anyone have a recommendation as to brand, length, action, etc. I want to avoid buying the wrong rod! Thanks for any help you can offer. Lou
  8. I have had the paint come off quite a few Stinger spoons. I took the hooks off them and sent them back to Advance Tackle in Michigan. Within a few weeks they were replaced at no charge. Try this and I think you will be happier. Lou
  9. Sundays sound like a good day. Sorry, but Tuesday is not possible. Email me your phone # and the best time to reach you to me at [email protected] Lou

  16. Hi! I am looking for one or more folks that want to join me on a fairly regular basis to fish the east end of Lake Ontario for Salmon & Trout. I own a 26' Penn Yan equipped to fish the big lake. I fish out of the Little Salmon River near Mexico, NY. I will provide the boat and all the tackle and lures necessary to make a days outing as close to successful as possible. You need to provide whatever you need to eat and drink, proper clothing and gas for the boat. I usually fish every Wednesday and Sunday...weather permitting. You can send me a PM or email me at [email protected]. Lou
  17. No wonder these eels are rampant! Except for Musky Bob all I see posted here is negative...for shame! Help the grad student out and give him some feedback. Maybe then something constructive will be accomplished.

  19. So what's your point Ray? In my opinion, bad results don't equal bad management. Input from all of us fisherman can do nothing but help the problem get better for all. Lou
  20. I found this survey on The Steelhead Site and thought it should be posted here so all of us Lake Ontario fishermen can have a chance to help out this grad student doing the survey. Maybe it will help our fishery if we voice our opinion. It only takes a few minutes to fill out and it MIGHT make a difference!
