  1. Four nice Proos electric downriggers w/4' booms. Included are three rodholders each, retro cords, pedestal/swivel bases, mating connectors. These worked great when last used a few years ago. New price $650 for all 4 units total!!!. PM me if interested. (I'd rather sell them here than on eBay to save the shipping hassle for both of us!)
  2. Went last spring with Air Melancon. I doubt you will find a better operation. The fishing the cabins, the people are all great. We went in late may just as the season opened. We caught plenty of walleye and a few pike ... no lakers where we were (Bae Du Nord). We were a little early to slaughter the walleye but we caught plenty of fish. It sounded like early July was prime. We have friends that have gone there in the last few years in Aug. & Sept. & raved about it. You are treated very nicely and the camps are very comfortable. More water than you can ever fish with expert guide service if you want (good idea for a day). I have lots of photos and the e-mail address of the caretaker/guide at the outpost we used. If you are interested, send a PM. Here is there link for the outfitter: http://www.airmelancon.com
  3. 4. Just a wild thought.... I have two functional Fish Hawk 840 setups. I plan on selling at least one and buying a Subtroll 900. I will likely sell the second Fish Hawk unit also, however, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with operating both brands on the same boat. I don't know if their signals would talk to each other (interfere) since one works via the cable and the other via transducer.
  5. Mike, Take a look at the '75 Crestliner in the "for sale" section. It is a little rough and needs the interior redone. However, it is solid and it ran fine when stored 6-7 years ago .... plus it has a 28' trailer I'm just trying to help out a friend who can't use it anymore find a home for it. If you're not interested, that's fine too.... Just thought I'd point it out. Dick
  6. I would recommend Chris at: McAllister Sign & Imprint. 1194 Ridge Road, Webster. 585-872-2530 They have done excellent work for me on boat graphics and other signage.
  7. I'm posting this ad for a friend ... This boat/trailer has gotta go now ...!! He has reduced the price way down for the boat and trailer package. $2000 Total !!! No Downriggers, electronics, or fishing equipment. *** The trailer alone should be worth most of that!!! This boat ran fine before it was winterized and stored inside about 6 yrs. ago. The interior floor needs replacement. Included are replacement seats w/bases ready to install. FOR SALE 24’ AMF Crestliner (’75) (Fiberglass) (Hull, engine & outdrive in good condition, interior needs work.) • Tandem Axle Trailer (28’) • 351 Ford, Mercruiser Outdrive • VHF Radio • 2 Rodracks (4 tubes ea.) call Jim at (315) 926-5464
  8. Mark, I've called Daiwa directly and ordered parts from them. Their number is available at daiwa.com. I have a exploded drawing/parts list for a 47LC. If you need it PM me and I'll get you a copy. I have also bought Penn parts from pennparts.com. I don't know what drag parts to switch though. Dick
  9. I know this has been hashed before, but, how much copper fits on a 47LC and with how much fileline backing? Thanks, Dick
  10. Here's one thing you might try with your cowbell/peanut rig. A few years ago when we targeted lakers at times due to a shortage of kings, I set up 2 rods with 30# spiderwire. One of the main reasons you don't feel much fight from lakers is that they are "head shakers" rather than running with the lure. Since they are usually caught 2-10 feet from the bottom and sometimes in 150 FOW, the usual mono rig stretches like a rubber band and you can't feel the fish. The braid gives you a solid connection to the fish and much more feel. Try trolling 1.5 - 2.0 mph. Bounce your canonball on the bottom and bring it up 3 ft. Repeat every few minutes.
  11. Fishing has been good straight out of Pultneyville 120-200 FOW. Sun. 105 ft. down, Mon. 90 ft. down., today 70 ft. down. Stinger "wonderbread, green emerald shiner, NK #28 silver/green glo, dalmation S/D/white fly were best. Did 3-4 majors each day with a few smaller fish mixed in including a couple 5# steelhead and a bunch of 2-10# kings.
  12. Looking for a 17 pitch prop in good condition for a mercrusier alpha 1. PM me. Thanks, Dick
  13. Rod, there are several docks at Wilson-Tuscarora State Park. I've used them a few times. I think they are about $19/night. I don't think they take reservations but during the Pro-Am, I was the only boat there. There is a good launch ramp there also. http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/info.asp?parkID=31
  14. Port Dalhousie, St Catharines, Welland Canal, Niagara River
  15. I keep hearing various things about the new Pro-Am rules but have not been able to find an offficial listing, even on the Pro-Am website. Dick
  16. Here is what I use. I have about 20 yrs. of these. They get a little beat up (washed) due to weather/firedrill conditions. I keep each years sheets in a binder and have this & last years binders on board at all times for reference. http://www.MyOnlineImages.com/serveFile.aspx?fi=665780 Dick
  17. Following is an e-mail I sent to the Pro-Am coordinators in October. What are the opinions of others on these ideas? Dick ........ Dear Bill, Troy, Chris, & Mike: Having participated in all 10 of the Pro-Ams in the last three years, I would like to share my thoughts as you plan for the future. First of all, I want to complement all the tournament directors and their dedicated staff. All events have been professionally run and a pleasure in which to participate. I am well aware of the many thankless hours that go into efforts like this. They would not happen if the same selfless effort did not occur time and again. Having said that, and since nothing is perfect, and I would like to offer my opinion on a few topics for your consideration. Obviously, the vast majority of policies and regulations work well and meet with approval. I suggest the following considerations: 1) An overriding policy should be that all rules are exactly the same for all the events. The exact same rule sheet should be used. 2) It may seem insignificant, but having common days of the week is important. When coordinating your team for 4 different events with partially changing team members for each, many times there is confusion about: “is it Sat. & Sun., or Fri. & Sat.â€Â
  18. Considering docking in the Lower Niagara (American side near the mouth) during May & June next spring. Is anyone familiar with places I might consider and any pros or cons? I've docking going west of the river (Port Dalhousie) the last couple of springs but think avoiding the border could be easier.
  19. Thanks Randy. I talked to Yukon and he has nothing but praise for the T8 Yamaha on his 30' Sportcraft. I think that is the way I'll go because it has power tilt and that will save about $800 on the power Panther bracket vs. going with the 9.9 which doesn't come with power tilt.
  20. Anyone have knowledge of function of a Yamaha T.8 vs T9.9 as a kicker for a 24' salmon boat? Dealer says T8 is working fine on several boats this size & larger. It can come with power tilt where the T9.9 does not.
  21. I'm having a Yamaha 9.9HT kicker put on my 24.5' Lund I/O. I will be mounting it on a Panther Model 35 power lift (tilt) bracket. I was going to use an E-Z Steer set up. I am also replacing my steering cable because it needs it. A suggestion has been made that I use a dual steering cable/helm since I'm replacing the cable/helm anyway. In this system two cables come from the helm, one to the I/O and one to the kicker. Apparently, a similar set up was/is used on the similar sized Crestliners that have the built in kicker pocket. I was hoping that this system would be less problematic that the E-Z Steer and two tilting motors. Anyone have any experience with the dual cable set up?
