  2. Billy I think he only wanted 10, you listed 11, so I will reject your comment about the purple dipsies! They take fish!!! On some days they take more fish than black dipsies! At least over here on this part of the lake! haha hahaabenaro---bless me! I must be getting sick. Jax

  4. It must be something in the water in fair haven that makes him so smart. He knew exactly which pool!! Watch out chris angel.
  5. Man I almost died that mornin, that was just plain retarded......I overshot that turn by a good 100 Yds. Did you go look at my tracks? WHERE WAS THAT SIGN? You took it down didnt you, covered it up to play a little game of "haha" jokey jokey on Jax, perhaps April fools day prank in october? You people out in gasport are trickers thats for sure.
  6. I was able to get out today with my father for a few hours. We launched around 8 00 with extremely low water at the genny. Fished from russel to braddocks in 10-15 fow in search of browns. We used inline planer boards, riggers, flatlines with stickbaits and spoons. Ended up 4 for 5 with 4 browns all about 3-4 pounds and a solid rip on a jplug behind an inline. The rip sounded like a big dark king slashed at it and probably had his tail fall off swimmin after it at this time of year. What a gorgeous day on the water, cool and brisk but that sun felt good! Gettin out once more before I put my boat away for hibernation next week. March cant come soon enough!
  7. Secret project to fill in Lake ontario to promote better living conditions? How can this be possible?
  8. One day and all these responses! Thanks guys Tim - Im lookin on ebay for my new cable now hopefully can score it for cheap. Do I need just a regular oem cable? If I have any problems hooking it up to my nmea I will let you know for sure. If you want to help in a week or two let me know I should have the cable by then. I will pay for beer and pizza...? This unit I have researched forever and finally went with it! As soon as I get my new cable I will install and post a report when im done. The directions look pretty straight forward. Hopefully there wont be any surprises.
  9. Anyone ever install one of these units? It seems pretty self explanatory but would like someone to go to for questions. I just got the unit the other day and after reading the installation instructions I think I have to get a new steering cable? I have the old rack and pinion set up on my steering console. I would appreciate any tips or tricks to help make the installation a breeze. Thanks guys
  10. Hey man I am back from california lets plan something for my father and I? Give me a call so we can plan somethin out? cell - 585-734-8930 Jax
  11. MJ Just wondering and im sure everyone else is too, How accurate is the 3-1 ratio on the wire dipsies compared to what you found out using your device? Just curious. I go by the Big Water Trolling depth curve for dipsies but was wondering how far off the 3-1 was? Marginal? Jax
  12. Trolling speed for jplugs depends on the day, overcast days with tons of fish moving through you can rip around and cover water up to 3.0 mph down speed. Some days you can get them goin 2.25. I have had the most conisistent luck going 2.5+ with size 4 and 5 j plugs. You do get them on turns and slowing down, it just depends on the mood of the fish that day. Jax
  13. Got to the river by 6 and was fishing by 615. Set up in about 25 fow with 2 inline planer boards pulling J plugs back 100+ and 2 spoons off the riggers. Within 20 minutes we had our first rip on the inline back 120 ft hauling a green with black ladder back jplug after a couple jumps he was gone. Set back up and around 700 the other planer board with watermelon tiger jplug plus 1 oz snapweight takes off and is screamin. The fish took me out to 340 ft and I told my friend to slow down to 2mph and start turnin on him so I could gain. Fought him for 15 minutes and got the planer board off to fight just the fish. Soon as I had the board off the line the other planer board takes off screamin! Doubled UP At Dusk!!! Boated both fish with one being 24 pounds and the next 18 and change. Set back up after with all glows because it was pitch black except for our boat lights and the almost full moon. Got a short rip on the inline again with no one home. Came back across the creek around 830 and noticed one of the riggers shake followed by the rod going almost slack then slamming down. FISH ON in the dark! I thought my rigger was hitting bottem but it was only down 9 ft. Got this fish to the boat and called it a nite shortly after. Fishing at Nite for kings is pretty wild! Fished for 4 hours and ended 3 for 5 with Jplugs doin the damage with 4 of the hits. All 3 fish boated were females with biggest being 24 pounds. We worked inside 30ft the whole nite with the best flurry of action around 630-8. Good luck to all that are still fishing, Im goin off shore next time to find me something alive. Anyone one want pictures of these dark pigs? If you have seen one dark salmon you have seen em all. Later, Jax
  14. I heard that about lake trout fisherman. Arent you married?
  15. Interference is my vote also. You can also try to turn your sensitivity on your FF down a little. Out deep I run mine at 90-94 % and in 50ft or less you can turn it down to 80%. This is also depending on your unit. Mite to play around it and if other things are wired or running near it causing an intereference. My fishfinder is 8,000 Watts peak-to-peak (1,000 Watts RMS) just for reference.
  16. jeremy When figuring out downrigger depth dont think to much into it. If they are saying 70 down they are fishing out 70 on the riggers. There is a few factors with one being blowback- angle of the downrigger cable pushing back as you go deeper due to down current and your boat pushing forward, but what really matters is the number on the rigger. To really dial in where the fish are you can watch your fishfinder and try and track your downrigger balls and where the fish are showing. Not to make this a dragged out answer if they are fishing 70 down its more an approximation not an exact measurement Jax
  17. Where are the tags located? Are they in the dorsal fin and very visable? Thanks Jax
  18. Tank- Yeah that would be AWESCHHHEM-- glad to see you got rid of them yellow balls they didnt go to well with the purple pounder. GTN- Yeah I dont let those player haters bother me, they just get mad cus we catch more fish when im with them in there own boats. I have been getting out just forget to post until its a week later. Once this derby is over im sure we will hear of alot of larger fish being taken 28 lbers plus. I should be out sunday morning as well and will definatly give u a shout. good luck to all rest of derby!
  19. Went out of Sandy Creek wednesday mornin around 530 with me and my friend and were fishin by 6. Ended up 6 for 6 with 5 kings 1 coho. First fish came in 55 fow 45 down within 5 minutes on the dalamation hammertime combo - 22 pounds. OK Im awake now. Screen looked good, good bait and hooks around the bait. Highlight of the day was a triple header fishin 4 rods. We boated all 3 kings- 1 off the wire and 2 off the riggers. The fish were 25, 18, 20. All fish on paddles/ATomik flys. Chinese firedrill- my gps trackline looks like im drunk during that may lay. Will post pics later Took 3 of my kings on an 11inch green flasher. The screen slowed down around 9 in 150 fow so I went north, picked up and set back down in 400 to a decent screen and ice water 45 degrees 30 ft down. Popped a 12 pound coho 20ft down 45 ft back on a green dolphin glow NK. Had to work so picked up at 10 and ran in to beat the heat. Good luck to all the rest of the derby. Fishin in the a.m. Jax
  20. I finally got out when the wind/waves werent to bad and had a decent day once we found the fish. Search mode for the first hour then fished from 730 till pullin lines at 11. Fished from the creek to wautoma in 100-140 fow using all spin docs and flys. Ended up gettin 2 over 20, with about 4 steelhead in the mix. Took fish on wires and riggers spread from 40-70 ft down. The last big one of the day we ran into some problems you wouldnt believe unless you saw it so here goes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDQ1GAZZk6E
  21. You would almost think I was in your boat with this abuse, im not even nearby. hmm I think this is how it went ALICE Somebody almost cost us from winning the Orleans Pro AM. As of 9pm the nite before we werent even gonna fish it cus you had something in your diaper. SOMEBODY was trying to show their muscles showing us how to reel in a fish and put to much tension on the hook droppin a few. And somebody didnt even want to bring the cooler into the boat when it was full putting us in 2nd after the first day....ahem... I dont even want to get into Oswego-- unless I have to but dont worry Rick your a halfway decent bass fisherman.
  22. SOLD SOLD SOLD Thank you for your interest
  23. What muskybob was tryin to say is sometimes if the dry weight of your boat and trailer is more than your truck is mite sway back and forth alot when at travel speeds. Also the length of your tongue can play into it also I was in the same situation as you when i got my new boat. I used to have a 17 ft tracker, now I have a 21 ft Lund with surge breaks. My truck is a 01 toyota 4runner. It has a 6cyl in it also, and tows it no problems with the 4x4 everyonce in awhile on a slippery launch. I have noticed a bigger gas usage tho when towing the Lund. The surge breaks help out BIG TIME, just make sure they have fluid and have been recently installed and clean. If they are over a year old with no maintenence done you mite want to get them checked out and cleaned. A little lube job never hurts either. Check out my boat pics in the introduce yourself section you can see how big the boat to trailer ratio is. Goodluck
