Hey guys Not a new name around here, but I havent met alot of you. I fish out of Sandy Creek mostly but have boat will travel for good fishing. She is a 1987 Lund Barron 2100v. I love Lund Boats and have always wanted one minus the cost. This is a new boat to me. I picked this up at the end of last season, stored her over the winter and finally got her done. There was alot of electrical work to do as you may remember me posting about awhile back. With alot of hours put in and alot of help from Gambler the Barron is back on the water and catchin fish. It is has a 120 hp johnson and a 9.9 4stroke kicker. I have rigged it up pretty well so far but As do most boat owners I still want to do a few things to it. It has alot of back end room for a 21 ft boat and handles the water awesome. Heres a few shots of her from a buddys boat. The fighting spot down the shoot, so much more room than my Tracker I want to replace the carpet in the back half of the boat and install marine vinyl so I can easily wash down the floor. Gotta love the smell it takes on after a few fish in the boat. If you guys see me out feel free to five me a shout on chan 72 Tight lines, see you all on the water

  4. Yeah I agree with the jaws getting harder, Alot more drops from nothing other than hard mouths. No bent hooks, no break offs just coming un buttoned. I think trolling faster and having a stiffer drag on the wires helps but just my .02$

This was a friend that used to fish Lake O for kings a long time ago. I put him on a bunch that nite. I made him reel in every fish till he gave up. First one on the wire he fought to the boat then a rigger fired so I handed him a fresh one while I tended to the tired one. He did another king right after and then sat down to give his arm a rest. I am holding the first one he reeled in so he could fight the fresh one. This was 24-25# off the meat rig froggy style A fish off yankee trollers side the nite he came on my boat. It weighed 24.5 pounds Im pretty sure I did more off my side that nite but cant remember exactly...... My buddy Rich with a 24# from last week 17# + 21# I have a way point in my gps that holds fish EVERYTIME I go throught it I pull fish. Alot of doubles as well. 18# + 20# 19#+23# Current screensaver! Taken out of sandy creek on a PM adventure Man I love fishin-Hope you enjoy the pics guys!
  6. Heres one I did up with a sharpie, as you can see it works just fine
  7. This class is filled with good information at a non boring pace. Dennis makes the classes fun and keeps you excited throughout it to succeed. I definatly reccomend it!
  8. I got a way of doing it that seems to work for me. I have a boga grip that I use for double checking weight as well as releasing the fish. Once the pictures have been taken hook up the boga in the top of the bottem lip and hold the fish head forward on the side of the boat making sure it isnt flopping around but with water flowing through his gills. Recently I have been tying the boga to a rope set so the fish lays horizontal against the side of the boat and just tie the other end to a cleat or rod holder. This way you can reset rods or clean up the boat while the fish is reviving. If you have enough people on board just have one person hold the boga and fish with both arms so it doesnt flop around. After 3-5 minutes check the gills to see if they have regained bright Red color and see if they are responsive, usually you can hear them kickin the side of the boat. Then I pull the fish in and spike him head first into the bubbles of the prop wash of my kicker. I have definatly had better luck this way and only taken home the fish that really took a treble deep- :? Sometimes there is no saving them..... In my old tracker I had a large livewell and would just keep that running with the aerator dump the fish in there when your are resettin rods or cleaning up and the fish will revive in there. By far the boga technique works better and has vastly improved my CPRed fish.
  9. Break offs happen sometimes no matter how many times you re check your line or re tie your flys. This time of year they are hitting so aggressively and their mouths are getting harder as the days pass. Dont let it keep ya down although its hard at 40 dollars and change a set up........ :? The past week I started retying my flys and leaders after 3-4 fish, has worked for me so far at keeping the break offs down. Just preventative maintenence as well as saving me some frustration. Do it enough and it becomes a habit.
  10. Erby- yeah It is the wide angle 200 that came with it. Do you have this unit? Mike - yep that was me, the red Lund. Sometimes I think that launch needs another ramp but I also like how small it is.
  11. I have had a hard time finding these in stores, so i buy the double crushed white on whites which are always there. With the help of a sharpie I just mark em up with black dots. This is always out with a blue hammer fly behind it on my boat.
  12. Hey kids..............Remember what Chef Tom says: "When in doubt put a screw in it" I highly reccomend the big jons, I got my triple stacks on last week and love them. Solid construction, easy one hand operation to change angles, you cant beat it.
  13. Been awhile since I have posted a report so here goes todays stats. Installed a new FF this mornin and wanted to get out and test her out. AM July 22 After installin the FF got out late and Fished from 7-10am, 105-140 fow out in front of sandy and east towards wautoma. Was 7 for 11 with all biggies, smallest fish was 16 pounds with the largest about 25-26. Good screen on the new fishfinder! The old one that came with the boat didnt show squat!- Fished 4 rods today and all sets took fish, Froggy Meat rig down in temp, wires 210-270 on a #2, spoons early mag glow frog, stinger NBK. 2 Double headers. all kings PM July 22 Are they givin away free toasters in the evenings at Sandy?--the parking lot at 4pm was FULL--overflow lot FULL it was rediculously packed. After watching some of the most unskilled people in the art of backing up a trailer- Got in the water by 5 hopefully fishing the same good screen as above. Had a couple on board that wanted to celebrate her boyfriends bday by getting into some salmon her bfs bday present. Started off slow and I was 2 for 5 by 8pm it wasnt looking good. Newbies on the rod didnt help but ended up fishin a producing waypoint for me and doubled up at 830 on the meat rig and the dalmatian spin doc/hammertime with 2 more coming after ending the nite 6 for 9 all kings with another person hooked on lake O salmon fishing... His gf even got up to the rod but ended up droppin a wire salmon despite a good effort. The new FF and boat work great-- the Lcx-20c, man what a difference a functional transducer makes! Some good sized fish off sandy right now! Go get em.
  14. Hey man, give me a call I know a few people that could help you out!
  15. Hey Jax needs your help guys. I need to buy a new FF for the Lund, the one that came on it is an older lowrance lms-70x and I think the transducer is burnt out. I am looking for a gps fishfinder with a big screen. Color isnt important the power and screen size are. Im looking to spend no more than a 1000. Please let me know what you guys have on your boats and what you like/dislike about them so I can make an easier choice of the zillions out there. Also if you guys can locate website links to the actual FF it would save me some time also for lowest prices etc. long story short..............If you had to buy a fishfinder/gps with a large screen what would you buy? thanks guys Jax
  16. The razzing? Cripes talk about an understatement. jk This was a awesome weekend. From the HUGE waves of day one, to the wicked flurry of action we had to box out on day 2. The habenaro came up HUGE catching some most of those last 8 fish ranging from 16-22 pounds. Again great pro-am thanks for all the congrats guys. Yankee Troller vs Billy V this weekend- sodus pro am any bets?? These guys that put on the pro ams dont get enough credit! All the volunteers, sponsors, teams that participate to make it a memorable experience for everyone.
  17. I am selling my 1994 Tracker Deep V-17. The Engine is 1997 90 HP mercury 2 stroke. The engine runs great and burns little gas. It comes with a minn kota bow mount electric with remote control steer and scotty rod holders, FF, life jakets and 3 seats. This boat has tons of storage, Big livewell, and trailers great. I have finally got my Lund up and running and its time to make some space in the driveway. Basically looking to break even on this boat. I am open to most offers, Except yankee trollers offer. The boat comes with many extras just needs to find a good home. It handles the big o very well, and excells in walleye and bass fishing. Please email me at [email protected] or PM me here for pictures. I am looking to get $5000 for boat, motor, trailer and extras.

  19. Any of you guys looking to get rid of your old fish coolers. I need a big one but dont want to shell out 150-300 for an new one. If anyone is looking to upgrade I would be glad to take your old one. Or another option-- know where I can get one for cheap?

  23. YT This is true, Using a MOOR sub troll now is like a blind man getting his vision back. So crucial with all the variables to deal with on top of currents and temp breaks. Thank you Orleans Pro Am!!! just got to go redeem my Maui Jim sunglasses coupon now  Tom - I think speed is crucial to you also I do believe that loud BANG!
