I dont believe I could get under the bridge. There also used to be a gravel bar at the outlet to the lake you had to watch. If you go and can take a quick measurement form the bridge to the water it would be nice to know if I could make it. One time in my other boat I forgot[actually girlwatching] and left the rods in the rodholders. Thats embarassing. It has its own wackcrack sound when you go under the bridge. And Stinger , dont use the same ruler you use to measure your fish!

I tried some of the Glowz paint. I seems quite durable and didnt lift anything I painted over. Now if the fish like it it should be fine.It glows green.

Ive been running wire probably 8yrs or so. There is something about it that attracts fish. I catch a lot of fish off the riggers but my best fish seem to come off the wires.Back when I fished the fingerlakes I made up a wire seth green rig. It was smokin hot. Ive changed my style now Im not after numbers ,Im after size. As far as wire goes 300 ft back a 2.5 setting on the dipsey seems to be a good starting point.Everywhere I go. Thats a lot of cranking. to bring your stuff in to check for weeds or change lures.I figure it gets me down 80 to 90 ft with the stuff I pull.I figure If I can go down 80 they can come up 20. A fast retreve ratio makes a hell of a difference. ,git ah tekota. Lots of interest in leadcore lately on the board. Ive been thru that cycle before also.If it catches fish for you thats great. I caught fish on it but finally decided it wasnt worth the hassle. If I hooked a good fish on the wires or the riggers it always ended up getting wrapped up in the leadcore. If leadcore seems to be the only thing taking fish this yr Ill get it back out in a heartbeat. Im not antileadcore it was just a big hassle. Jolley you going to be fishing out of Hughes this yr?

Stinger thanks for thinking about me. I didnt make it down to the NYC boatshow I couldnt find anyone who wanted to go . My son lived on the N fork of LI. Everytime I went down I went boat shopping. Grady, Robaldo, Key west , On and on ,the dealers were all down there. Every type of boat you could imagine.Ill keep my 21ft arima. My next one will be a 22ft arima .If my ship comes in. BTW when I got my boat I was concerned the 115 was to small . But it works perfictly. If I bought a 22 it would probably have a 150. But its a much larger boat. One of the guys up at camp is supposed to be showing up with a new 22 this yr. I cant wait to see it.

If you scrounge around you can find Mason brand wire line.Buy the 1000 ft spools. Last yr. I respooled with new mason wire[ive always used mason]One spool was silver colored wire one was brownish colored wire. The silverish colored one attracts less fleas than the other.I also seem to do more fish on it. We had this discussion on the other board but its very important to get the line tight on the reels. I roll out the spool tie it to a tree and reel it on the spool. Its hard to crank in 1000ft with steady tension on the line. Then go out in the lake and tie on a 1lb weight let it all the way out .Put the boat in gear and reel it in against the pressure of the boat going forward. Nothing is worse then getting a loose loop under wire that is tight on top. I usually respool my wire rigs every year. This yr I think Im just going to reverse the wire off one reel on to the other. I had a few fish stretched out over 700ft last yr.So you need the 1000 ft. You will like the blue diamonds if you have enough room room in the back of the boat to handle a 10ft rod. I run the 9ft leaders behind the dipseys Ill do fish on days other guys wires are not fireing. I give the tekotas a a+ . Buy the strongest rodholders you can find. Retie the wireknots every couple times out. DONT beat me in a derby with my own info.

Well tonight I was at Wallyworld in Ithaca and found some glow spray paint. I dont know how long its been around but its the first Ive seen it.Its made by Krylon its called GLOWZ. I havent tried it yet Ill be painting up some dodgers tomorrow and Ill bet a purpleglow dodger will be putting lots of fish in the fishstix boat next yr. Yea Ill do some spoons up also. Here I go talkin purple again.

If your woundering about why old cutbait hasent been posting much lately Ive been proweling the dozer boards. This is my latest purchase. It doesnt look big but its got a 10ft blade.Thats my JD450 parked next to it.It dwarfs it. I bought it to build a few ponds and fix the roads up on my property. Fun to run. Get a blade of dirt and just goes.I know its not fishing related but you are my extended family and you should know whats going on. The Pro Am has taken up the board .I dont do Pro Ams.I did a couple photoshops up for it but didnt post them . It seems to be a touchey subject.Any other dozer guys out there? It would be nice to have a "coffee shop" section on the board for this kind of stuff.

That one did. I bought mine thru digitaldagger .com. They had free shipping on reels at the time 151 delivered to my door.I dont know who is the cheapest right now. Ive been thinking about switching over to the 500 lc for spring time planerboard reels.Ive lost some real nice bows to the poor drags on the other mfg.

I dont know whats gonna happen . But I do know a big snowmelt sure helps the brown trout fishing in our area.

I was up New Yrs day. The old shop looked dark . I figured he just was not open.He probably should put a sign in the window.
-
Jeeezz shoot me a Pm I dont live that far from you. If you want some info. on salmon stuff you could come over . Ill show you what works for me.
-
Dave I need the length to get out and over the down riggers.Especally if the winds blowing. They are also a great speed indicator when running dodgers . Rod tip will pulse.
-
Hermit I dont really know what to tell you.Somedays the riggers work. Somedays the divers work. Some days they both work. And somedays nothing works. My best setup is two riggers and two divers.I run 12lb balls and short leads.Usually less than 10ft.I also have better luck on larger size spoons. As for the wire setups .{Im on my 3rd setup} I m running the 10ft roller rods and Tekota linecounter reels.I usually run stuff back 300ft.None of us guys are spring chickens and 300ft is a lot of cranking but its not to bad with the tekotas. Most of the guys I fish with wont touch the wires when a fish hits. To much work.My best fish seem to come on the wires.I know nothing about braded line. I tried spiderwire once didnt like it. I think there is someting electric about wire. Ive never ran inline planerboards.Ive never had much luck with the smaller dipseys but Ive never given them the run time I have the largers. Ive got a slidediver setup that should work but I cant say Ive ever taken a fish on it. I guess if you wanted to mess in the top 50fow a downrigger would be best. You can awalys use a dipsey and try down and out off the riggers. I personally would not skimp on a wiresetup.

Yea we worked that mudwater . We thought thats where the fish would be. It was loaded with debris . Couldnt really troll in it. Also it was a few degrees colder than the main lake. Thats a neet picture you got from Cornell. Big Dave I cant give up all my secrets. But I do think they swim around the lake .You either find them or you dont. I cant find them during fishing derbies.

A couple brns from Cayuga today. We wasted half the day running boards.Did catch a couple pike on sticks off the boards. Moved out deep ran riggers and divers not quite as good as day before. I would like to have this brown during a derby. He is still there swimming around. Some of the bait piles Ive been seeing deep. they go on for miles. Huge clouds.I think this is why the shore guys are doing poorly . The bigger fish are on the bait. The ones we catch are lively and healthey. BTW that spoons a Stinger Tuxedo. Happy New Year

Ive got some good pictures in the camera from yesterday. I never unhooked the boat so Im ready to go this morning. Sometimes you gotta have some pink on the spoon not just copper orange. Ill get a spoon pix today.
