  1. Got out on Oneida today, one short of a 3 man limit (did throw back one short one). The perch were hungry too. Trolling stickbaits in 37 to 50' of water. 2.3 mph, on the bottom. Nothing on the boards today, got them on the riggers & dipseys. Love my Chamberlin releases, as the riggers triggered on the Perch & Eyes, while keeping a tight bow in the rod..
  2. I am against having a stranger on my boat as an observer. The horror stories of hung over street bums showing up for duty in that condition keep me out of the Pro-Am's. The last thing I need is somone who reeks, yacking up all over my boat & needing help!!! Fishing is too important to go this route. I am all over the LOC though & feel that their format (after they cleaned up the cheaters) is very workable. Maybe the Pro-Am' will change the requirement, or are they worried that they could not control the cheating???? Why the need for the observer?
  3. Storm: If you have time, please post how you did, as it will be very helpful for the next three days. I plan on posting after each trip. Good luck to all, & maybe Oneida will beginn to let use do some serious damage on the eye's!!!! Thanks!!!!!!
  4. Walteye; I will be in a 21' foot red Lund center console with red Bimini top. Yamaha power (main engine & kicker) 4 big john captains packs on the back. Got some shad raps in white & black. These match the gizzard shad I was snagging on the t sticks I pulled through the bait clouds, as well as some spit out in the live well. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
  5. Walteye: Thanks for the kind words!!! I am planning on being on the lake this weekend for sure, but plan to fish some other areas away from the crowds North of the channel bouys. I am surprised at the number of boats out there now. Hope the eyes have eaten through the large bait schools, so they are easier to fool. Will post after I get out.
  6. Fished 7:30 to 12:30 today, 3 eyes & one Sheepie. Snagged a healthy sized gizzard shad, about 4 inches on one stick bait. The bait is all over the place & the eyes are pretty picky on what they eat. No weeds to speak of, so the trolling was easier. Bye!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Thanks Snuff & Carpe!! I am going to give it a try Sunday, will report if I get out.
  8. I was out on Oneida (9-17-08), the surface was covered with weeds, some patches were 20' X 30'. Found this condition from buoy 119 to buoy 113. Made it very tough to use a trolling presentation. Got I eye 19" & one sheepie, plus tons of weeds. Even broke off a stick bait on one big pile of weeds, bye bye thunder stick!!!!!!!!! Sounds like Sunday afternoon may be OK weather wise. Any current info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
  9. The Bills eat soup out of a can because you can't trust them not to break or steal the soup bowls.
  10. You mean it wasn't wide right again???? What happened???? Giants fan forever, they rule!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Ray; Spoken like a true plumber. 1/4" pitch in 10 feet & you are good to go!!!!!!! Just remember to use your rectal thermometer correctly, it is not interchangeable!!!!! Don't eat the yellow snow, that's where the huskies go according to Frank Zappa!!!!!!!!
  12. Please stop putting crap into our lakes!!!!!! Rubber bands are trash/litter, & it is not OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. I guess the answer to my request for a new phrase is out of the question??????????
  16. I think muskybob farted & I am not thankful for those memories. They are getting very odoriferous!!!!!!!!! How about a new phrase?????????
  17. Look, I took the test when I worked at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac. Prep classes were given during lunch period for 8 weeks, & then you took the written test. Mostly common sense, & the test was very easy, if you took the time to read the study guide & do the home work!!!!! By the way I missed two questions. No matter how much you try to educate the public, the results will remain poor. Just look what is happening to this country & our State in particular!!!!!! We are bankrupting people in New York State do to the size & cost of government, all manufacturing is leaving, as is our new talent fresh out of school!!!! edit: I removed that last statement Iceman. No need for that kind of thing. Please limit your political feelings a bit. - muskybob
  18. Why mess with the laws of natural selection???????
  19. Hooks; I can see my downrigger weights on the my sonar, & I do not use the cable counter to position my weights, I use my sonar. Therefore, if I was 120' on the cable counter I too would be higher than the bottom @ 115', that's why I do not use the cable counter to set my rigger depth. It is usually hooks on the graph, or the fishhawk thermocline indication that drive the location/depth of my presentation. Using the cable counter is basically useless!!!!!!! I always use the sonar shallow alarm to bottom watch for me as well.
  20. Alcohol & microfiber cloths. Should get the oily film quickly & leave no residue behind. May have to do it twice.
