  3. 3116 cats. have heard mixed reviews. i know there were some issues with them but i heard CAT replaced them . Guess they had a soft block. I would imagine as long as it's not underpowered and maitained they should last forever
  4. Boat is a 30 ft pursuit offshore so kicker would work but if i go with a diesel i would want trolling valves. kind of leaning towards cunnins or cats.
  5. Consigliere, I have a 1999 penn yan sea tracker i am going to be putting up for sale in a few weeks. The sea tracker (if you are not familiar with penn yan's) is very similiar to the pro hunter but the sea tracker is a walk around. it has 4 scotty downriggers, raymarine c80, simrad autoplot and radar. motor is 350 5.7 liter TBI (very nice on pocket book) if interested let me know i can give more details Rob
  6. anyone familiar with these motors? pro's/cons. boat does not have trolling valves, i know with cats and cummins they wont idle down to trolling speed. was not sure about these diesels.
  7. Anyone ever have to replace the sliding window on their penn yan, I have a 26 ft sea tracker. Hit a wave sat and the window came off track and into the water it went. i have a call into penn yan but wanted to check here to see if anyone had to replace one and where i can go for one. thanks Rob
  8. John, that is awesome your son is going to make some collages. Takes a lot of patience to put all those different pictures and clippings together. oh wait did you mean college??. lol. good job on the open division Sat.. Rob Hideout
  9. all these methods are good. I personally have never cured my eggs. I rinse them with river/creek water, put them in a strainer for 3 to 4 hours until the top layer have a filmy texture then i freeze them in ziploc bags wrapped in paper towel and tinfoil. Although i still use egg sacs i have gone to beads more for steelhead. the bead appears to be more natural looking then a clump of eggs. rob
  10. I disagree with maverick. reason being because it's maverick. rob.

  16. I understand it is ok at this point to use open communication and I do not put down the people that do it because it is a rule but come on guys it has become a joke especially when you have a bunch of boats covering a lot of water all communicating. I agree with Shade go out there read the water and go from there. When we came to the east end this year we had no idea what to expect, we pre fished and figured out our own program. This is our 3rd year in the Pro am's and love the competition and will continue to fish them but this "rule" needs to go. Rob Team Hideout
  17. It was a great time. We were all skeptical about the time of day they wanted to fish but wow were we wrong. 5 people on my boat and we went through the rotation 5 times. Thanks to kevin (barnacle) at 5linx for setting this up. Rob
