  1. Mostly a bit west but we also tried east. Didn't really get more than a few miles either way.
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):8/17 Time on Water:6am- 3pm Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 1's to a ripple Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 10 Total Boated:8 Species Breakdown:Kings, steelies Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: 2.4 Boat Depth: 120-500 Lure Depth: 100-135 riggers 300-345 wire ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Saw the wave report Wed. and decided to play "hooky" from work. Set up in 150 and started to troll North. Was in search mode all day.Doubled up twice. When we hit fish we would work the waypoints but never found a honey hole. Fish were scattered. Ended up catching 3 20+ lb kings, a 12 lb king, a skippy and 3 steelhead. Really had to work for them though and would sometimes go several hours before getting hit again. Our 320 wire with a silver jensen/white fly was our hot setup and took 5 of the fish. Lake layed down as the day wore on. Definately beat a day at work. ====================
  3. My son Ryan spent last week in the Bahamas fishing with my brother-in-law Mike and his friend Richard. Here are a few pics from the trip. They got into quite a few sharks. Ryan doing battle Coming back to Florida the Coast guard checked them 15 miles offshore. They were looking for drugs and if they were trying to smuggle people in. The week before they caught a boat that had 8 million worth of Cocaine on it. Fish pics Shots at the marina The Drinking age in the Bahamas is 18 which made 18 year old Ryan very happy. The sun setting over the Atlantic
  4. Bass Pro usually can't be beat on Merc prices. The money you save on gas and spark plugs will almost pay for the new motor.
  5. Rod- Yes- it's part of the State park. Traveling man and Bill are dead on about leaving the boat alone there though. TONS of people are always walking around where you would have to dock. Unless somebody was always with the boat or if you have a way to lock everything away safely-it's not a good spot. Al
  6. Nick- the boat is not broken or anything. It's still sleeping in a barn. I'll get it in soon. You know I always procrastinate. Ryan is fishing in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas for a week with my brother-in-law and his friend. His boat is a little nicer than mine but hopefully he will be able to adjust to it. I'll definately try to get out to Wilson. Thanks for the invite. If you guys want to come up for browns before then, let me know and I'll make sure the boat is ready. Maybe we can beat the April 19th king from a few years ago.
  7. Rod- The docking would be in the bay by the launch- not the pond. You would never fit under the bridge if you docked in the pond.
  8. I fished out of Oswego last Thur and today with Capt. Chris Misciagna on his boat. Water temps were around 40 degrees on Thur but have warmed up to around 45-46 degrees today. The water was a lot clearer today than it was last week. Thur. was the shakedown trip for Chris and everything went well. It sure did feel good to get back on the Big O. after a long winter. We ran stickbaits off the boards. On Thursday we caught most of our fish in 5 to 8 fow. Today we did better a little deeper (15-18 FOW). Chartruse worked better in the dirty water last week and today we did best on natural colors in the clearer water. As others have mentioned , we also saw a LOT of lamprey marks and scars. Most of the fish we caught were also jammed with baitfish. My first of the year Chris with his first of the year We kept a few. They are going in the smoker tomorrow. Thanks for letting me hitch a ride Chris.

  10. We've been wasting our time putting in foodplots. Next year I'm buying trampolines instead.
  11. I love the colors on winter trout. [/img]
  12. Here's a video I found on another fishing site. It's about how to survive if you do go through. I get cold just watching it.
  13. Thanks guys. Dan- I live in Elbridge. The arrow was farther back than it should have been but I got lucky and hit the main artery that runs under the spine.
  14. Well I went out hunting yesterday 11-7-07 and around 4:30 I hear some cruches behind me. I was already standing up in my treestand and am just waiting to see what it was to come through the brush. I finally see it and notice it's a nice buck so I draw. I held at full draw for a good minute and waited for the deer to step in the shooting lane. When the deer finally steped into the lane I anchored my kisser button, put the pin on it and let the arrow fly. The deer acted paralyzed for a second and then took off crashing through the woods. I seen that my arrow didn't pass through and that it was a little far back but I knew it was hit pretty good. About 15 seconds after I shot I see that the deer had circled out into a overgrown field and was running through it. This is where I lost track of it. I got down out of my treestand and looked for blood or my arrow. Nothing. I decided to go home and talk to my dad because I didn't want to jump it and never find it if it wasn't hit good. We decided we would go look in the morning for it. I really thought I gut shot the deer and was worried all night. My dad thought it was hit good by the way I described that it acted. We got up today and went near where I shot. No blood. We searched through where it ran through the woods before it went into the field. No blood. We decided to look around where I last seen the deer running through the field. We found about 4 drops of blood on the overgrown brush but no trail to follow. I didn't think things were looking good. I was mad that I may have wounded a nice buck. Well we split up and were just trying to find some blood to follow and I look to see where my dad was and see some white. I looked a second time and there I saw my first deer with a bow and also my first buck. I couldn't believe it. I yelled to my dad "Hey I think I found something". He said "What". I told him to come over here but couldn't wait till he got all the way to me to tell him that I found the deer. He ran the rest of the way and almost tackled me. I think he was more excited than I was. It turned out to be an 11 pointer. I thought last night it was a decent 8 or so. It had an 18 inch spread. The deer only went about 40 yards from the point that I last saw it in the field. I am having it mounted also.
  15. From the Syracuse Post Standard. He's lucky somebody spotted him. Gusting winds send rafter 1 1/2 miles offshore Posted by Catie O'Toole September 14, 2007 3:11PM Gusting winds sent a rafter in Lake Ontario a mile and a half from shore Friday afternoon in Oswego, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Edwar Uceta said. The man, whose name was not released, was in the rubber raft along the shoreline when the winds started picking up, Uceta said. The winds reached 30 mph, he said. Someone spotted the man in the raft waving his hands about 1:54 p.m. northeast of Fort Ontario in Oswego. Uceta said the man was trying to get someone's attention because he could not figure out how to return to shore because of the strong winds. The Coast Guard came to his rescue about 2:03 p.m. The man was not hurt.
  16. Bill- I'm going to try and get out Sat afternoon. Save a few for us. Hopefully, I'll see you up there. Rick - the steelie hit a cheated NK glowfrog over 110 fow.
  17. We got out for a few hours Thur night and went 5 for 6 (2 kings, 2 cohos, and a steelie). We fished 70-200 fow but did best in the 100-110 range. The 55 rigger and the 180 wire were best for us. Other than the steelhead it was an all fly bite. We are still not marking many fish. The past couple of years we would be marking tons of fish by now. Hopefully this means that the best fishing is still to come.
  18. We got out for a while Sunday am. We went 2 for 4 on kings. The two we landed came on the Mountain dew/ Siggs green apple down 65. We also dropped two on the wires (one out 180 -the other out 220). It souded like we wern't the only ones having trouble out there finding fish. We worked shallow early (100 fow) and didn't do anything. The few hits we got came in 200-240 fow. We didn't mark many fish either. It still beat working though.
  19. My son Ryan and I got out for a few hours Friday night. We are waiting for a part for our Depth raider so we were without down temp and speed. While getting setup we talked with Billy V about what worked for him on his a.m. trip. (thanks Bill- just like last time it didn't take long to get into them using that info) We went 5 for 5 on the night on kings. Two fish came on the 35' rigger. Two came off the wire out 165 and the other came on the 140 wire. White and Green spin drs./ protroll flashers with Sigg's rigs flys in Green hypnotist, Green apple, and White crinkle. The fish seemed scattered tonight. We caught 3 in 150-180 fow, one in 125 fow, and the last one in 65 fow as we were trolling in for the night. Two were very dark and looked like they were ready to run the rivers. Fishing without downtemp and speed sucks once you get used to having it. Our new power cord will be in the beginning of next week so we will be back in business. On a side note- My son Ryan broke his arm two weeks ago and cannot reel in fish. So I had the unpleasant task of reeling in ALL fish while he got to steer the boat.
  20. I'm pretty sure all of the cable is coated. Nick- You are going to love it!!!!
