  1. Good luck. None of my guys are available this weekend, so I'll be bass and panfish fishing in the bay...
  2. S-L-O-W !!!! Went 3 for 4. 1 skippy king, an 8 lb brown and a 10 lb laker. Worked 150-300, then back into 100. Lots of bait and good hooks. Not many takers. Huge pile of weeds and debris out in front of the chute in 180-260. Lots of clearing of lines. Probably won't be back out until the week of the Pro-Am. Hoping the fishing will pick up by then... -Jim
  3. I'd love to say there was some magic, but we were just fishing based on what we were seeing on the screen and down temp. Changing up colors occasionally. I'm having no luck with wire this year but run it anyway. I don't think this fish will hold up for long, but if it lasts through tomorrow that would be nice.
  4. Left the dock at around 5 this morning with friends Greg and Mike. Set up in 150 and worked 150-200 all morning. Lots of bait and hooks, but a pretty slow pick. Wound up 3 for 5. All kings. 2 smaller and one nice king that is currently at the top of the LOC leaderboard at 25.14. This was Mike's first trip. Hope to be back out on Sunday. -Jim
  5. Just remember there are are forward and reverse acting servos. Be sure you get the correct direction.
  6. Getting the kicker motor height correct is a balance of keeping the prop in the water when rough and not submersing the cowling. Water intake just below hull is likely too high for big water... Sent from my SM-G920V using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  7. They look like they would dive well, but do you really need 1,200 feet of wire to get to 50 foot depth? See below from the website: LET OUT 2' OF LINE FOR 1" OF DEPTH: #5 is used for 50-100+ foot depth #4 is used for 45-80 foot depth range #3 & #2 work best in the 25-50 foot depth range #1 is also great for shallow trolling 5-25 foot depth range
  8. Hook up Elite NMEA 0183 OUT plus and minus to NMEA 0183 IN plus and minus on Smartpilot. Hook up Smartpilot NMEA 0183 OUT plus and minus to NMEA 0183 IN plus and minus on Elite. This should allow your autopilot to steer to chartplotter waypoints using the Track feature on your autopilot. I don't think you need to buy anything, except maybe some shielded cable.

  14. I saw a red Ford Explorer a few times last year, and saw a sedan doing donuts near grassy this past Sunday. Car started moving back to bait shop at 40+ MPH, so I could only get a quick cell phone pic. Probably hard to see...
  15. I think your unit has Ethernet, and there are also Ethernet to NMEA-2000 adapters, like the Humminbird AS-ETH-NMEA2K. -Jim
  16. Simnet is essentially NMEA-2000. The Humminbird description sounds like NMEA-0183. Does the 858c have NMEA-2000? I'm not sure what you are trying to do, but to interface NMEA-0183 with Simnet you need an AT-10 adapter. http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1%7C344%7C2028705%7C2028879&id=1013173 -Jim
  17. Rudder assist or rudder feedback? Rudder feedback does just what it sounds like - it informs the AP of the rudder position. This helps keep the AP from over compensating. It also prevents the system from putting force on the rudder if it is at a hard stop in either direction.Lastly, it will let you know the rudder position, which is handy for docking. Jim
  18. Did a short trip this morning. A new port for me this year and still learning the area. Worked 130-150 just west of the chute. Finished 5 for 11 - 3 kings, 1 steel, 1 brown. 2 nice steelhead dropped at the back of the boat, plus a few short bites. Black and silver spoons were hot, as well as green dot spinny and hammer fly. Fleas sucked. Lots of boats working the area. Off the water at 10:30. Jim
  19. The 7' are 2 piece medium action. The 8' are 8'3" and light action. I think people don't realize that the shorter the rod the more control you have of the fish.
  20. I switched to all 7' Ugly Stik Downrigger Rods a few years ago. BWD 110170 is Medium action. It can be a Ford/Chevy debate whether long or short is best, but I really like the 7' rods for downriggers and that lets me easily use 8' roller rods for wire.
  21. What time is the Captain meeting? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
