  1. The counter is for repeatability only. If they say the fish are coming 70 down, that means they are reading that their equipment is running at 70 down, 70 of cable out. Fish your equipment in your zone so that you know where you are presenting your baits. Its generally better to fish too high as fish see upwards. I would rather be too high up in the water column than beneath the fish as the fish wouldn't see me baits that are below them.
  2. Another thing to remember is that it is better to have a full tank of gas with stabilizer added to it when going into storage. This is to avoid a bulk of air in the tank that would welcome and produce moisture from temp changes, and the inherent problems of water in gas.
  3. Thanks for the link Any tips on how to rig these things, how far behind the cowbells? Thanks
  4. After looking at the LOC leaderboards in the Laker category  it looks like cowbells / peanuts or cowbells / spin-n-glows seem to take a bunch of fish. The only Lakers I have caught while trolling have been taken off spoons, while fishing for Kings. Where does one get these cowbells, peanuts, spin-n-glows, and what is the proper way to rig them? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
  5. They will last about 10 trips  I know that as I used them before I spent the money on the better quality trolling bags that are built to withstand the constant pressure from trolling.
  6. "Our best rig was the familiar bite whole alewife on a familair bite chartreuse daisy chain" Hmmmmm, this seems a lot like cut bait
  7. Might want to put a post over on "the hull truth" as those guys are big fans of outboards. They should be able to answer those questions regarding specific model years and their issues, if any.
  8. I thought you only had to cut down the fin on the early production e chips that had the chip just glued on. The current e chips have the correct size fin on them, and the chip is in a holder, not just glued on. Thats what I have been told, or read somewhere.
  9. Sweet pics Rich, those memories will last a lifetime. Way to go on getting our furture fishermen going

  11. Congrats on the strong finish Richard Is that the official new boat name?
  12. Rich, Thanks for the info on the savants. They look great, I like those frog and glow patterns. Seems like they do real well for you. Does any place down east carry them, or are they from online sales only? Richard, Not sure if I'll be at the challenge, should know pretty soon. I'm still waiting on my boat to be done, hopefully I'll have it back soon. I think I'm going thru withdrawls bad, I even rigged up the river boat to troll with  Catch ya guys later
  13. Once again, great pics Rich. How speed tolerant are those Savant spoons? Hey, is that a can of WD40 in the motorbox cup holder????
  14. Fished between Wilson & Olcott in 90 - 180 FOW and went 6 for 6 with 5 Kings and 1 Steelie. Spin docs with Atommiks, spoons and lymans all took fish. No real pattern as all different colors worked. Not sure what the temps or downspeeds were as I decided to fish my small river boat with limited equipment. King at 16lbs Small guy Rookie on the full core
  15. I had a 22' Fiberglass Imperial with the 205HP 4.3 Merc V6 in it. I thought that was a very nice combo, good power, good on gas, so I wouldn't think that this Sea Sprite would be all that underpowered seing that this V6 has a 4 barrel carb on it to build more power.
  16. Sweet fish Tim, how did that brown fight? I see that Mountain Dew is still kicken
  17. Not much I can add since my boat is broke, but I was out on a friend's boat this weekend near the red can and marked a TON of bait. Took a few small kings on Magenta R&Rs off the riggers, but not much action. Not sure of down temp or currents, but there was a ton of bait.
  18. Looks like a 215 Tempest from the way the hard top compares with the rest of the boat and the angle that the pic is from. But I could be wrong
  19. Nice rig, love the colors Keep that PY fishin, thats what she is made to do Nice rigs, both of them!!
  20. Fished NE of the red can in 200 - 250 FOW and took kings on any green colored flasher/fly rig fished 70 - 90 down. Saw RICHARD out there and he and his crew did good running a similar program in the same water. 19 pounder Richard runnin Anyways, today I blew my coupler in my 260HP mercrusier I/O and was wondering if there were any words of wisdom for fixing it. Planning on pulling the motor tomorrow to survey the situation and figure out what parts to buy. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
  21. Looking at your name and the first pic, it seems like you have a 245 Contender, am I right? Love those Penn Yans
  22. Hey Richard, Fished this morning in 180 - 220 FOW NE of the Red Can. Spoons worked for Coho, color didn't matter, I even caught a Coho on a MIAMI DOLPHIN!!!! Kings came off Flashers / Flys with Green, Chrome, Mtn Dew flashers with any color variation green fly working. Had a MAJOR on the wire diver, ran out over 660' feet of wire before coming unglued, never even slowed down and came clear out of the water 2 times. I marked a bunch of fish in that NE area that you fished last year. Water was 47 - 48 degrees at 55' down. See ya later this week
  23. I'll be fishing the Niagara Pro AM as a part of Team Fishstyx Can't wait
  24. There are a TON of Cohos and shakers NE of the Red Can in 200 - 250 FOW. Lost count of how many we caught this weekend. ANY spoon color would take fish, even the Miami Dolphin
