I fished Saturday and Sunday out deep. Saturday I forgot my tackle bag from when I switched over from the salmon gear, but scratched out a limit on some spoons I had on the boat. Sunday instead of the light SW wind predicted we had ENE about 15 mph. Caught 4 keepers and a few slob perch on my normal stuff. Marked plenty but they might have been turned off by the east wind. Rough enough that we only did one big down wind pass and had to call it.
  2. Very soft recoil on all the 6.5 Creedmoors we have. Compared to the old trusty .280 I have shot for decades at least. I have been shooting 142 Grain Winchester Expeditions.
  3. 400 yard group from the other night. Pretty much as good as i can do with rest i am using. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  4. I have had decent catches out in the deep water north of Shakelton Shoals. Plug bite with plugs right on the bottom with the riggers. Catch a bunch of jack perch out there on the plugs too. Perch Rapalas seem to hold their own. Bare Naked Reef runners on inlines as close you can get them to bottom too.
  5. Just got my new rifle that was put together by Hart Rifle Barrels. First class job all the way. Hart barrel, Defiance Deviant Hunter Action, McMillan Stock, VX-5 Glass and TriggerTech trigger. Jim shot one quick group with the other day and it is a tack driver with factory Winchester Expedition loads.
  6. I fished it yesterday for a couple of hours. Made one pass along the entire north side of shackleton shoals in 32 to 40 fow. We run riggers on the bottom with #7 and #9 perch rapalas (the newer one) and do well with Reef Runners on braided line on inline boards with snap weights. 75 back, 2 oz weight, then 75 feet to the board or 100 feet back, 3 oz weight, 50 feet to board will get you down around 30 feet at 2.2 to 2.4 mph. Get a couple Bare naked Reef runners. tough to beat on the boards. Saw plenty of guys drifting warm harnesses with bottom bouncers. That usually works too. We ended up with a dozen or so walleyes with 5 keepers up to 20 inches. Nothing over 38 feet of water. Probably plenty being caught in the weeds too, but I just stick with the deeper trolling.

Ran my normal trolling spread but tried in 38 to 40 fow North of Shackleton Shoals. Managed a limit pretty quick, lots of shorts out there. Nothing over 18 inches. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Hadn't been up since a couple years ago but the old stuff still works. Perch Rapalas on the riggers and Bare Naked Reef Runners on the inlines with a 2 oz snap weight. Had a nice catch on an hour in 38 feet of water in front of Lakeport. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  15. I didn't look at much more, but knew I was going with the 6.5. There is a really good recent review on Youtube for the Mesa. My daughter's 6.5 is a Model 7 with a Hart Barrel on it. Another wicked shooter. Both that one and the Mesa have pretty light contour barrels. Need to be patient and let it cool a bit if you are shooting for groups on both. First two usually touch, third shot is a "flyer" lol. Long Range Mesa is probably going to be good. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  16. I picked up a 6.5 Creedmoor Mesa for my son at Christmas. 5/8" groups at 162 yards with the Winchester Accubond LRs. Tried the Hornady Precision Hunters also and the Winchesters were just slightly better.Haven't messed with any handloads yet. Nice hunting rifle for sure.
  17. Slim pickings in my go to spots around southern Onondaga County. Shot one on Christmas day and that has been it.
  18. Try Performance Shooting in constable NY. I buy Leupolds from him and have never found any cheaper. Call him though. He does better than the prices listed online.
  19. I'll vote. I have a Savage 220 with a Leupold Vari X 2 that is a pretty good shooter. Consistent 2" groups at 100 yards. Hornady Perfomance 2 3/4" slugs.
  20. I use the LEM #12. Outstanding. Buddy of mine has a Cabelas one that has a larger motor and I bet the LEM is twice as fast. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  21. Anyone have any of these in the 20 foot version that they would be willing to part with? Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

  23. Made an awesome improvement to the fridge smoker this weekend. Replaced the turkey fryer burner with a new autofeed, electric hopper setup. Digital control was right on and did up a pork butt today that was outstanding. Sent from my SM-G950U using Lake Ontario United mobile app
