We dock the boat in Wilson and stay at 4 mile. For the pro-ams you have to leave from Wilson or Olcott. 4 mile doesn't have slips or a ramp. There is a ramp a few miles away at Fort Niagara park you can use for free if you are staying at 4 mile. Glen

I have my Brown rods spooled up with 20 ff and floroucarbon leaders. Been using it for about 12 seasons or so and never had any more line twist than any other line. It lays on the reel just fine. If you get some line twist from loading it on the reels, same as any other line, just take the snap swivel off and let it out behind the boat at about 5 mph for a few minutes then reel it back on. This will remove all the line twist. Also keep your swivel free from fleas. If it can't swivel you will get line twist. Good fishing Glen

4 SEASON OUTFITTERS TENT

This is a serious tent that is quick and easy to set up. It can be used in any weather from summer to winter and never get a drop of water inside. It can withstand winds up to 70 mph and at 12X12 ft it's like a cabin inside. I bought this tent for our spring trips out to the Niagara Bar because of the sometimes nasty weather out there and only used it for 2 trips and one Fall LOC. Now that my wife comes with me we rent a cabin so I am selling the tent. It is like Brand new and costs $669.00 plus has a floor liner that snaps out and can be machine washed that cost another $50.00. This tent is serious quality. Here is the link to Cabelas sight if you want to check it out. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... 02107&rid= I will let this tent go with the floor liner for $450.00 firm. It will last you a lifetime if taken care of. Shipping would be expensive and I start going up to Mexico every weekend the first weekend in April so if interested we could meet up there. Otherwise buyer would pay shipping. If interested send a pm, email or call my cell at 413 519-3019 and leave a message. Glen

Best bottom speed and temp units

I went from a fish hawk to a subtroll and like it. Never really had any problem with the fish hawk except for it chewing up 9 volts. Glen -
We are also anxiously waiting. Glen

After years of not having a decent way to store my flys I am in the process of designing and building a proto type fly storage system. In order to make it versatile I could use some help from you guys. 1. How many flys would you want to have rigged and ready to fish? 2. What are your leaders lengths from shortest to longest? Thanks for your help. Glen

Thanks Guys. Dave, Yes we will be doing all 4. Looking forward to seeing the boat this spring. Glen

Hey Chris, What do you have in mind? You going to put in a couple days with us out at the Bar this spring? Glen -
14 years with Scottys and not a repair ( except for when I hit the gas dock.) I would not go with anything else. Glen

Maniac Nice to see you are keeping Ethan in shape durring the off season. Keep up the good work. Glen

Moor Sub Troll antenna for Scottys
spoonfed-1 replied to landingzone's topic in Tackle and Techniques
Dick, Been running the special antenna on my Scottys for 3 seasons now and it works great. No noticable difference in signal strength and no issues whatsoever. Glen -
Scott, Give me a call or email. I will set you up with something. Glen

Rookie "starter kit" suggestions ???
spoonfed-1 replied to Yankee Clipper's topic in Tackle and Techniques
I will assume you are Salmon fishing All the different style flashers and dodgers will take fish at one time or another. As far as colors you can't go wrong with green, white, chrome and trashcan. Spoons in the same basic color schemes are also a good idea. A few magnum and a few 28 size. Some days are a fly bite and some are spoon bites. Sorry about being so vague but it's a pretty large topic with a lot of variables involved such as water clarity, temp and weather conditions. Lure presentation can be just as important as color also. The more time you spend on the water the better you will get at making these decisions. Make sure you know how to troll before running wires as wire tangles do get expensive. It's about 40 bucks for a 1000 feet of wire. Might want to start with one wire rig and keep your dipsy set to 2 1/2 or 3 for a while. NO SHARP TURNS. You can read a lot of good advice on message boards but there is no substitution for time on the water. Glen -
There is absolutlely nothing illegal about splitting fuel costs between friends for a fishing trip. Glen

Go to the Diawa websight. They got a phone number for parts and excellent customer service. Glen

Thanks John. Looks like I will be taking a ride down to NJ this winter to check out the ones from http://www.boattowers.com/. Looks like nice stuff and reasonably priced. Glen

Bill, Yes there is growth on the bottom. The difference in performance and fuel economy is minimal. Top end would be 38 1/2 to 39 mph in the fall instead of 40 I get in the spring. Doesn't bottom paint do that? (creat drag or friction) I have read reports that claim it does but I can't say that from my own experience as I have never used bottom paint. Glen

I have a 25 foot Wellcraft with no bottom paint. I leave it docked on the little salmon river from April untill October. When I pull it out at the end of the season I spray it down with Slimy grimy and pressure wash it. Takes about an hour and looks like new. Don't figure you could paint the bottom in an hour. Been working for me just fine. Glen
