Chris. Will give you a call this week. Will be up this weekend but got a lot of cleaning and waxing to do on the boat. As you know in April it went from snow and mud to hot fishing so I vowed to do it before the boat goes back in. Plus the cabin looks like a tackle shop exploded in there. Erbyjoe, Spoons we ran were mostly NK's with the setbacks at 25 foot 60 foot and deeper and 35-60 foot above that depending on how shallow I was running them. Wires worked out 80 to 120 but only had one good wire day. The riggers were best for us. Hope that helps. Glen

Glad you enjoyed yourself. Can't beat the fishing out west this time of year although they were late comming in. The fish are typically alot further east by now. We should have got together while you were out. Maybe next year. Glen

Started out on Saturday afternoon the 5th just east of the red can. Only fished for a couple hours running a 4 rod King spread and didn't move a rod. We were beat up from the trip out and getting the boat and camp situated and headed in early. Didn't mark anything but some lakers. Sunday morning got an early start and covered water looking for the big guys. Hooked up with some Cohos but kept moving because thats not what we were there for. After a couple hours it became evident the Kings weren't there yet so I pointed the boat west and we just kept going at a fast troll in search mode. Finally after a number of hours and about 15 miles the green spin doctor started screaming and the screen got busy. They were there in 160 fow and for a couple hours we boated maybe a half dozen kings. Monday morning as soon as it got light enough to see we were running. Lots of debris so I didn't want to travel in the dark. Stuff that would sink you if you hit it. Got to the spot only to find the fish had moved. There were still a few and we did a pair of Kings but not like the day before. We went into shallower water figureing thats where they went. Nope. Went further west. Nope. Headed out deeper and they were there. Just the wife and I and we beat up on them for the rest of the day boating about 15 or so all Kings. Thats pretty much the story for the rest of the trip except the numbers kept going up after we really had them dialed in. Only one day we had a decent fly bite and that was when a friend came out with us for a couple days. the rest of the time it was all spoons. The two days he was with us and I had a good 6 rod spread going we boated conservativley 50 fish with at least forty two or three being Kings. Did hook a few Cohos but not many with the spread I was running. We managed to put a 20 lb 10 oz King on the board on Wed. and managed another one over 20 on Thursday but did not want to kill that one for a couple onces more as I was pretty sure he wouldn't hold up anyway so he was released. As far as lures, it was a magnum spoon bite for us with green spoons being the most consistent producers. Had dodgers and flys going one day off the wires but the spoons were definatley more productive. As of Friday the fish were definatley moving in and east because after the wife and I beat up on them all moring I set up going back east to find some fish that were closer to us for the last morning of fishing on Saturday. We moved east covering different depths and found 70 fow to be keeping us busy all the way to 5 miles west of the Niagara before we had to pull them. During the fly bite it was a Siggs green fly that was the hot one behind a bullfrog dodger with a custom pattern he tied for me being the only other fly to take fish BUT the green was hot. Headed out solo just for a couple hours before I had to do a refrigerater replacement at the camper. What a pain in the a_ _. Anyway I ran 2 rods, both off shallow riggers with small spoons and fished for about 2 1/2 hrs. Headed west again and went 5 for 6. All Browns with the biggest about 6 lbs. Fished 20-30 fow. The fishing was a little tougher than it has been but who knows. I was feeling lazy and didn't work to hard as far as changing up stuff and other than fighting the breeze when playing the fish it was kinda nice. Saw other boats hooking up off the boards around me but nothing fast and furious. Sunday pulled the boat and buckled her down and it's off to the Bar next weekend for the LOC. Glen

Just about everything over 6 lbs had eel gouges or scars. Really a shame to see them beautiful fish looking like that. Took one long, real skinny fish with a big head that had 2 fresh deep gouges in him. Probably should have been over 10 but weighed about 6 1/2. Nasty. Chris your welcome anytime buddy. Glen

Headed west out of port with the wife Saturday morning and had the rods set by about 7:00. Stayed out deeper from the pack and found them in about 1/2 hr and proceeded to light them up. Fished until somewhere around noon and had 20 plus a few come over the side of the boat with all but a couple going back in. All Browns with 3 fish between 7 & 10 lbs. Called my friend Irish Knots over who was fishing with Rich D. and son and they spanked um pretty good as well. For us shallow riggers with spoons stretched back 80 foot were out fishing the boards 3 to 1. The boards infront of Rapalas in black and gold and perch were slow BUT steady. Had all 4 rods in the boat on our first pass thru and the first rod going back in took a hit as I was letting out. Very fun day. Sunday morning I had Irish Knots onboard with only a couple hours to fish because of things I had to get done at the camper. Ran right back to the hot spot to find the fish had moved. I only had a short time to find them so I choose to head into deeper water and deeper into the Bay. WRONG. We ended up only doing 3 fish our efforts. Time to get ready for Niagara. Glen

Chris, I ran one in a natural color for Browns the year before last. It was an all day bite for us of about 60 browns and it took a couple fish but no where near what we were hitting on sticks and spoons. Clarke and Smitty was out with me in the morning and Jan, Fred and Ron were with me in the afternoon. Haven't run them for salmon because the ones I had had lead inside them. Would have to run them straight I guess. You going west for the LOC? Glen

Rich, I had the camera in the boat to but the biggest fish was only about 7 lbs and we didn't kill any so I like to get them back in the water as soon as I can. If we hit one over 10 we would have a shot with Chris and the fish. Hopefully next time. Enjoy your day. Glen

I run a 15 Honda on my 25 ft Wellcraft. Never had any problem with boat control in any conditions and it pushes the boat around at about 6.5 mph wide open. That being said, it does burn more gas than I like and I believe a 9.9 would have been sufficient. The reason I went with the 15 was it was a left over and I got a great deal on it with power trim, electric start and controls for about the same price as that years 9.9. Both good motors and will do the job. Glen

Ed, The only problem I had was the first two I bought were from the 1st producton run of the reels. I had line creep on one and they replaced the drag system on it. Shimano was very sympathetic to the problem and were great to deal with. If you go to the websight for the phone # and call the service dept. during regular bussiness hours you will probably get instant results. Good luck. They are great reels. Glen

Put two in the water with the leaders a little shorter and a little longer than protroll recommends. Get up to trolling speed and observe the action at boatside. Then let them both out and see which one is taking more hits. This will tell you what you want to run. Other than that I can't help you much because I don't run the small ones. On small dodgers I run about a 16 in leader but have taken fish with them up to 21 inches. Glen

20 lb flea flicker with 200 foot of 8 lb test pline 100% flourocarbon on top. When the fleas start showing up I cut the 8 lb floro back as needed. By the time they are in full flea bloom I'm down to about 15 foot of 8 lb and the flea flicker does it's job. Before the fleas start I got straight 8 out there. Glen

Ken I use real tiny barrel swivels to join the lines. I wanna say size 8's or 10's. Just checked as I'm respooling up for the season and the ones I have here are #8 Spros. They are 50 lb test that I use on the big lake. On the Fingers I'm pretty sure I used to use 10's. Anyway I use a polymer knot for the braid to the swivel and a regular cinch knot on the mono. Never had any issues. Good luck Glen
