Hey guy's, 1--- Hans you pretty much described our log sheets info to a TEEE.(you STILL scare me) 2---Chris (JollyII) I recieved your message and will send out copies of our logs. PS I know your Dad from way back 1980's. If I remember Bill Joliff was a DEC biologist for many years that had some really, really neat takes on the salmon in lake ontario. That is another post sometime I hope. He was from webster or so? and knew the dimartinos of the Tamiron stingers/honey bees? I also use the jolly releases for many & all types of trolling senarios during tourns./charters Example: SIDENOTE*** Running J-13 split back rapalas in 4'--6' of water in early spring is brutal on BIG BROWNS and even deadlier on ALL SIZE "charter fishing catch/release browns. SORRY thats still another post on weird but effective slow day charter moves. 3---Erbyjoe/Musky bob/waterlogged--- I am going to get some blanks to Billy V or blue eye (site computer guy) who actualy can post them up here as a picture. Jolly, We have been keeping written logs now for about 24 years. They helped us (told us by the percentages!) To switch back to using treble hooks over single hooks. We used treble hooks all threw the early 1980's. Then I was religous about singles (fished hooked on singles had the highest landing percentage) but years of our catch/charter logs showed a much higher hook-up to hits percentage on treble hooks. We broke down our landing/hook-up/hits percentages on rigger lines---top lines---cheater lines and diver lines. Any way to make alonger story shorter I would be happy to send you some our blank log sheets along with some copies of our log sheets filled out from charter or tourn. trips last year. Just give me your adress. PS Just ask Billy V about hits to hook-ups to fish boated, In last years Pro-Am he went 28 for 28 if I remember right in 2 tourn. days on the REBEL. Jerry REBEL

Capt. Mike, I have to go with the cutco knifes also. Use them on my charters for many years. RustyRAT has the right one!!!!!! 1) trim fish fillets very clean. 2) lifetime free sharpening 3) watch e-bay I have at least 7-10 cutco knives from there-rotates my stock and send half back at a time for sharpening. Use electric knives for the big slabs and salmon steaks. Jerry REBEL

Jay, If you look at it that way, You should take into account ALL the taxpayer money and private funds. For instance you can not just single out the oak for a less than 1% of it,s total shoreline. Taxpayer money is not singled out for a specific 1 mile area, it is pooled together for the whole. Taking the WHOLE Lake Ontario shoreline and figuring out what percentage of that is privately owned(private land and unaccessable water) I would guess is a huge percentage. Point is the Oak pen rearing affects the WHOLE Lake(as fish migrate all year) and is a very tiny affect on that small piece of property for a few good weeks 3 to 4 years from now! They could make that whole oak river private and I would still reccomend their pen rearing efforts. Just a thought, and I am DEFFINATELY on your side when it comes to "the guide" and his little world on that private stretch. JERRY REBEL

The Genesse River pen rearing project has the exact same dilema. They asked for and also received additional salmon river fish for the upcoming 2007 spring. They are currently in the process of collecting material (round 1.5 inch aluminum tubes 20' long $ plastic tie raps & netting & rope etc.) A local tool/die shop (ANDY) has offered his services of the welding and construction of the 2 new pens needed, and Shumway Marina (Skip) has welcomed and offered assistance(boat crane) at his marina. Interesting point is we already had 2 pens for the steelhead we are currently raising each year. We asked DEC for the extra salmon AND requested to put the pen steelhead we get directly into the Genny river, thus freeing up the 2 pens needed for "extra" salmon. NO DEAL! We had to continue the pen raised steelhead to receive the extra salmon. That shows the commitment the DEC has placed on getting the steelhead program back and running in the open lake AND streams. Don"t get confused that the Oak & Genny are getting ADDITIONAL salmon for our areas. WE are only getting salmon that are already being stocked in each river currently. (Instead of the fish being dumped directly into the rivers they are diverted to our new pens.) I am donating 1.5 inch alum. tubes I have in my barn along with opening up my Rebel charters account I have at shumway marina for any supplies needed while setting or pulling pens. Also sending check to Oak Orchard project and contacting Web Pearsal(DEC region 8 ) to thank him for at least trying something to counter this new VHS disease. The Genesee charter boat association is going to hold a very near future fund raiser for the money needed to finish the 2 new pens. Anything you guys can give ESPECIALLY YOUR TIME 1 or 2 days a year is huge. Thanks for getting threw ANOTHER long Rebel rave. Jerry Rebel
