  1. Brian, I use to think I'd have a better chance at getting struck by lighting but, REALLY it's already happened to me !!! at work Perry/Warsaw airport in 2005. So now I just hope that some day ..... he'll get it right. Good luck in derby Steve
  2. 81 or 82 spoons ??? 5.50 a spoon I'll buy the colors I really want.
  3. Sounds like you always believe the weatherman Tiaogaguy, I read the forcast the exact same way you did. No where does it call for ENE winds at 20 knots. Wind and waves higher near thunderstorms !!!! a full hour past when the storms hit us at the dock. the lake continued to build till about 10 am. Experience is something I've got plenty of, been on the Big O for over 30 years. Just like the forecast to be somewhat accurate for a change Steve
  4. I heard last night from a VERY reliable source that the fleet fishing the Pro-Am out of Point Breeze were battling 8-10' sea for a period of time. Apparently Yankee Troller took a wave OVER the top of his boat. A 25' Bayliner with a hardtop. Report said alot of CHUMMING going on west of the oak yesterday I guess with the lake not being hot and heavy right now I'm not totally heart broken, just want to hear a screaming drag because its been awhile. Maybe I jinks myself by starting the season with a 17 lb crome bullet at the Niagara Bar 8 lb test and a bucktail jig trying for lakers when this says "HELLO" Steve
  5. Woody if they had to forecast that I'm sure they would screw that up too ...
  6. Chris, WTF !!!! Maybe I should call you at 4:45 to get a Lake report, Because the bouy said everything was a go. I drove through that gully washer wipers on high and slowed down to 25 mph still couldn't see worth a shizit . Maybe in the AM I'll call you on the VHF Steve PS Is the boat ( lower unit ) all good
  7. Blueghost1, I always check this site http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=45012 for the latest info, and everything looked good at 4:30 am so I hit the road. Steve
  8. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):Sat 6/12 Time on Water:5:30 Weather/Temp: Cloudy /65 Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: <1 up to 4'++ Surface Temp: 67* dropped to 62 Location: Sandy Creek LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Well lets see maybe the forcast was off a little. Canada is north, Florida is south, the Atlantic is to the east and California is to the west. So when I was greeted at the parkway by a monsoon started to wonder if we would even get out. Drove through the down pore and hit the launch at 5:30. Started to blow from the EAST at 15-20 and then it got SNOTTY FAST !!! Pulled our spread with 3-4'ers crashing and whitecaps as far to the EAST yes, EAST the direction of the sunrise as we can see. Maybe when the forcast says south less than 10 and lake less than 1' we should stay home because I'm going to start digging a big hole to put all the weathermen in Maybe Sun. for another Lake Ontario bath Steve ====================
  9. If you've already come to the cut and Haywire twist method than at least put a small piece of heat shrink on the knot and it will "slip" through the guides a lot cleaner. Every auto parts store has it and it comes in a bunch of colors. I'm lucky my 400' had a MAJOR backlash from a first timer just dumping it out last year. Steve
  10. Thanks for the report Chris, We (Nothin but Net) will be out in the AM and hope to find better water so I'll be sure to post on our results. Good to hear your boat is fixed up and hopefully running good ? Steve
  11. Are you serious ??? Maybe you should just stop fishing altogether because, after all when a unwanted species ends up on YOUR rod you'd never take a picture of a once in a lifetime catch. Well done Nothin but Net. Fish Junkie, Steve
  12. Is this a surprise to you ??? It was 1 of many closing we sportsman/women are going to HAVE to deal with because our license fees have been used for everything but the purpose they were collected for !!!
  13. Nice report Mike, always good to get out with the kids. Catching something just puts the icing on the cake.
  14. WWIV, Do you run a single rigger over the back of your 48 SPL outboard think I followed you home from the bay today? Great report I did a real good eye last week in the river. 27" 8lbs. 6oz fish Steve
  15. Chris, I thought we had made a Deal ??? Call me I sent you a PM, Steve
  16. Hi Panfisher, we are fishing in the Rideau system in Canada Newboro,Indian,Clear,Benson,Mosquito, please tell me I'm thinking the right area. I fish there every year but have never seen SLABS like that!
  17. You did good Sampson to Severne is about 8 miles. A bigger antenna might not have done anything but get in the way on a 16' er.
  18. Longtail, Oldsquaw, Call them what you may but they are with out a doubt the hardest waterfowl in the world to kill. I'll second Missdemeanors comment I've killed my share during second season. They have been caught in nets 180' down. They literally fly underwater. They'll go down and come up 500 yards away. Pretty cool noises when they flock up. If you really want to see good groups of them go to the Niagara after the new year comes around and bring LOTS of ammo
  19. Abe, Glad to see your decision on a depth finder has led to additional fish being caught. If you had brought Darrell to the mighty Niagara you would have caught lots of fork tailed green slime balls. They were real hungry Friday and Saturday then they eat themselves so full of alewife that Sunday they really didn't bite well. Keep in touch
  20. Brian, That fish was caught after I talked to them, and as far as keeping me home I'm planning on being there in the AM.Hope the bite continues Keith said they caught close to 100 fish today !!!!!! Lets keep that our little secret
  21. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water: Weather/Temp: Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Surface Temp: Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: Total Boated: Species Breakdown: Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: Down Speed: Boat Depth: Lure Depth: ==================== Well just got off the phone with the crew on the Niagra and they have boated over 50 lakers !!!!!, yes I said 50 and this report is only 4 hours on the water. Nothing giant but there stacked in there like cord wood. GO, Nothin but Net. ====================
  22. Not sure about the fish hawk transducer but the 1197 should have an option for a thru hull. A good marina should be able to layout the best place to locate the transducer. Marine epoxy the puck to the hull no need to drill a hole. They also make a transducer that is drilled thru the bottom of your boat (ouch) but if done right it's not an issue
  23. Maybe governor Patterson and commissioner Grannis thinks the sportsman/women should balance the budget because lord knows no matter how much they raise or license fees most of us will continue to pay it. Time to buy the lifetime !!! Should of done it years ago
  24. You have a good start but I'll tell that the best investment might be a marine band radio. The big O can be a nasty body of water. Don't risk anything or anyone and play close attention to the weather. Follow the reports and try to spend time experimenting with presentation. Speed can be very important with the current out there, trolling directions can drastically alter the lure speed and action.
