  3. Count your blessing Brian! I am glad nobody got hurt and you did not lose a thing due to faulty breaker.
  4. What a beauty of brown beast! This fish needs to be put on the wall of fame!
  5. I m looking to add them to my collection of stick baits. In case you got several storm thundersticks or Jr Thundersticks laying around, please let me know. You may send me PM. Also, photos will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
  6. Great work Tom with landing six fish solo! That picture of beaten up steelie makes my stomach cringe.
  7. Thanks fellas. Maybe, it was my secret plan to send everybody over to the west side while leaving the east free of any fishermen! We should all know this by now: the NW winds make most of the fish stay on the west side.
  8. Great job on the big king. I am sure I saw your boat yesterday. Very beautiful rig with two tall outriggers. At least you were in the right spot - NW of Rochester. Thanks for the excellent report. Tight lines.
  9. We had a good day of fishing on Memorial Day with 4 for 7 score including a Small king, coho, laker and steelhead. We started out a bit late at 6 a.m. and headed out in front of I-Bay with the following set up: Set up trolling with 2 riggers - spin doc and hammer fly on 90' and spoons (NK Carmel Dolphin and Stinger) with cheater on 60' Wire with paddle and fly out 240' 2 stick baits flat lining off the otter board' We started trolling in front of Ibay 80' FOW and there was no action on the screen as we trolled all the way west. The rods did not move for about 2 hours. The surface temp was cold at 49 degrees and it warmed up as we headed toward west. It was 51 degrees on the surface and that was when the best screen action started as this is just west of Russell in 110 and 130' FOW. North of us, there were about 5 big boats sweeping the area. While I dont fish in the pack, I could see where the action is with flurry of charter boats trolling around in one location. The NW chop has quieted down after around 11 a.m. The highlight was when we had a triple hook up with my buddy fighting two fish on his pole. A Laker took the fixed spoon and the coho took the spoon off the cheater set up. The third fish was peeling off with the spin doc fly set up in its jaw. The screamer took off and I came up empty. Three hits on the wire diver set up. Lost 2. The stick baits did not take any fish. If I had to do it again, I would just go straight to Russel area and start fishing there. There is nothing like a grilled steel head for the Memorial Day BBQ!. Tight lines.
  10. Talk about a full redemption after a day of getting skunked! You should know how easy target I am and you can blame it all on me!
  11. Looks like you re off to a great start! Like your new avatar! Best of luck fishing in 2013!
  12. The diagram from Tom reminded me of a daddy long legs. Having said that it felt as if our boat was attacked by a giant spider! Kidding aside, the experience of losing trolling gear to the buoy was very heart wrecking. I thought the rigger would be gone during the violent snagging between the rigger cable and rope from that darn buoy. It could have been a lot worse had the cable snapped and sent the pieces flying on board. It could have dismembered one of us on board. I can attest that Chris has been very calm during the whole ordeal! I cant tell from my deaf ears if he had shouted some ugly words. Without the coordinates, that buoy is slightly west of the white house on the eastern part of I- Bay. Stay safe everyone! Cornellis - I had Barry who was the one that reeled in the whole 800'! Boy was he disappointed Stay safe everyone!
  13. This is just like marriage. You spawn till you die.
  14. Thank you for your generous tip which has certainly helped us yesterday on the water. Within 20 FOW, the water was all gin clear and you could see the sandy bottom including some dead fish! At first I thought somebody lost their down rigger weights however they were just dead fish lying around. From listening to your advice, we were able to land our first and only fish when we first reached 280 FOW. It was a feisty steelhead which had sucked in a green fire tiger bomber stick bait. As dumb as I am, the fish landed on my hand and the treble got stuck in my hand. Thank goodness it was only the first treble that got my hand foul hooked as it could have been a lot worse in case all three hooked my hand with the angry fish flopping around. My buddy went on to hold the fish to stop it from flopping to keep it from ripping my skin away. With little time left, I had to head back to watch my kid play all afternoon before I visited the ER to have the hook pulled out. Barry said to me that I should have a club on board. I m not sure if I want to start clubbing fish after all. Anyways, Hans - you da man! Thank you for your help on the water! Best of luck with LOC!
