  3. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Bravo ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):7 21 10 Time on Water: 7-9 30 Weather/Temp: 70's Wind Speed/Direction: w-sw Waves: 1-3 Surface Temp: 76 Location: russel to genny LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 1 Total Boated:1 Species Breakdown: KING Hot Lure: Trolling Speed: 2.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 150 Lure Depth: 60 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Three rod set up, one wire and two riggers 60 and 100 fow. King took to be named nk spoon off 60' rigger over 150 fow. Despite the severe thunderstorm warnings, I studied the noaa radar and saw the bands forming 10 miles below the shoreline. I took my co worker for fishing. He grew up in Ottawa, Canada and has never fought the kings. The lake was all sky blue and we were amazed by the sight of cloud formations south of the shoreline. Screen looked good at 100 fow then it became blank until I reached 150 and saw tight band of bait down 60 and 80 fow. It was quiet until right after the sun has set, the rigger rod fired and my favorite fenwick rod with daiwa 47lca was bending down as it was pulled by the king. I immediately hooked it and gave to my buddy. Good 15 mins fight before he boated his first king. King was abt 22 to 24 lbs. Released successfully. Now he's hooked for kings. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] Pictures added: Forgot to mention lamprey eel was removed from the king and decapitated.
  4. This is all about making progress. Back in the old days, the Indians only used stones to count their catches. Now, we have this nifty counter! It was not too long ago when I only counted with one or two or even three fingers for my catches. When fishing with Chris, I realized I have a new problem after I used up all of my fingers when trying to count the catches.

  7. For the next time you head out fishing solo, please read on: http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/salt ... id=4068535 I am amazed that this guy never gave up! Safe fishing.
  8. Heres the counter I ve been looking for. I just ordered a pair of counters for us.
  9. Congratulations Todd and the crew. You guys did great! We were fishing on Liv N Ellie out of Rochester on Saturday for the Open. We did not find any big fish around Rochester unlike the weekend before. So many small ones were caught. The drive from Rochester to Sodus took nearly forever while we were racing against the noon deadline for the weigh in. Sunday, I was not fishing the open division and went out solo and I landed five fish in two hours. I went back to Sodus that afternoon and saw that everyone in the open only had one fish. This is not a concidence. Note to myself for the next time- sign up for the whole weekend! Although I only met a couple guys like Mike _Landshark_ I was hoping to meet the rest of the LOU gang. Perhaps, we could get to wear bright colored LOU hats/shirts in the future tournament and we would find each other easily!
  10. Looks like the upper half of the pole was missing.
  11. Thanks for sharing great photos. Sorry to hear about the lack of derby ticket which would have made your fish in the top 2 LOC!
  12. Thanks for the great write up. It was good seeing you again and it was certainly nice meeting Jeff. I did not have the chance to see Rollie. You said it very well, fishing for fun with a strong passion should never be replaced by anything else in the world. Tight lines.
  13. Sean: Did you say which time of the year will you be in Alaska? The timing of your trip is important factor in deciding where you want to be. In case you re driving toward homer or steward, be sure to stop by on your way to one of the best river, Kenai River. I have caught tons of silvers during the month of July out of Kenai River My good buddy runs this charter www.kingoftheriver.com Best of luck. Anthony
  14. Rick, Thanks for sharing a fun filled adventure! Everyone at LOU would really enjoy attending the weigh in event. I was so amazed to see how many BT the gangs has caught over the weekend. I am always learning something new everyday! Tight lines. Anthony
  15. Ahoy, thanks for the fun time fishing on your cool boat. The fishing past few days has been nothing but stellar when one want to count the number of catches. I am going to find a little gadget on ebay such as a counter with a button that you get to click each time you catch fish and you don't have to worry how abt keeping track of fish catches. Tight lines, Anthony [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  17. Great job out there today! Congrats on your successful double all by yourself! Ted - I had the same question about whether one catches more fish while fishing alone as opposed to catching more fish with the group. There will be days when you catch more fish while fishing solo however I have learned that fishing in the Lake O may be most effective when fishing with a team. I would have never landed that monster king had I fished alone. Also, I have read from others that the more commotion you put out there, more lines with more flashers, it brings more attention from the fish toward your boat. When you get back, lets PM each other for some open dates.
  18. Way to go Zach! Congratulations on your big catch!
  19. Guys, Dave Chilson was very kind to call me back with the answer to this question. The LOC participant can only win ONE prize. Now, with my 32# fish on board, I am telling myself to forget about Brown Trout. Also, forget about the lake trout, Of course, forget about the steelehead. Note to myself "Think about the Kings!". Good luck and safe fishing everybody!
  20. The derby fever has gotten to me. I am sure this question has surfaced in the past. If John Doe caught a first place King and he caught a first place steelhead, if I am reading this right, John will only be qualified for one division prize either it be king or steelhead. More likely, John will be qualified for the king because it would have weighted more than the steelhead "Is entitled to only one division cash prize. No participant may win more than one of the division prizes, although contestants may enter more than one fish. If the succeeding fish is larger, the smaller of the fish with least weight will be withdrawn." http://www.loc.org/derby/registration/derbyrules.asp
  21. Lost my 15lbs torpedo with the depth raider probe off Hedges in 45 FOW due to kink on the cable. I have marked this location on my GPS in case I have the necessary dive gear to salvage these items. Aside from this, be sure to get Blacks release before you connect the torpedo to your downrigger cable. I have a fixed black release and a free sliding black release on my port. The probe rigger only has a fixed black release.
  22. Fished last Saturday July 10th with Chris of Momay4000 and my 16 year old Niece from Florida. This brute took green dot/white spinny with an A-Tom-Mik Hammer fly out 285' over 185 FOW. The battle lasted 30 minutes before we boated this fish in.
  23. Pardon my duplicate posts, I tried to post this under the Summer LOC result using my blackberry pager. Instead, it showed up here.
  24. Hey guys, thank you for your words of encouragement. I hope to end up in the top 10 for the salmon division. Safe fishing everybody!
