  1. OMG, what a great report! You kept the streak going like there is no end. Big Dave got it right - the one that got away leaves a lasting impression on your brain. I skunked this morning on a short trip from 6:30 to 8 am. I was trolling in between 80 and 120 FOW. Very few marks. I saw a nice color break in 90 FOW. With my parents and niece from Fl in town, I made sure I got home with a box of donuts before 9 a.m. Will be out there tomorrow with the children. Tight lines.
  2. Nice going YT. Thanks for sharing a very encouraging report. My first day of vacation starts tomorrow and I will be taking children out tomorrow. Hope to post a good report. Tight lines.
  3. Thanks for sharing a good report! I finally got my boat back from McMillians. A one day tune up job turned out to be six days job as they did not have the part in stock for a simple water pump replacement in the outboard engine. I did not have the boat on my fathers day which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I had to get my house ready for my parents stay with us. Indeed, I ran out to the lake after 8 p.m. last night. Started trolling in 80 FOW. Debris everywhere. One hit but nobody home. Perfect sunset. \ Hope to head out this weekend. Tight lines.
  4. Rodrattler - Im not sure where you live. I have a pair of cedar planer board and some stick baits for you. I live in Rochester. I might be at the Sodus Pro Am. LEt me know what works for you.
  5. Thanks for sharing the report. I envy you for being out there as I have been sitting behind a desk all day.
  6. Tom, Thanks for sharing a great report. This is the best visual report I have seen. Pictures are worth a thousand words! Tight lines. Anthony
  7. Exactly! It is ok to be screaming out by yourself in the middle of the pond. No, you re not crazy for yelling out like that.
  8. Also, when fishing solo. I have the net on the rail mounted rod holder handy so I would hold onto one rod with my right hand and net on my other hand. I would pick up the rod a bit and slide in the net under the fish. Not an easy feat.
  9. Awesome report, Chris! Def a fast and furious action for you. We went out yesterday morning 6 am to 11 am. Took my two buddies who never fought king in their life. We were Zero for Two. On our deepest rigger, the rod fired and I hooked up the fish and then handed over the rod to each rookie only to hear from them that theres nothing on the line. I am very envious of your recent catches. Thanks again.
  10. Beautiful steelie. Great picture! Your son will always remember his fishing trip with you.
  11. Great pictures! It is amazing about what works at Lake O also works at CA! Tight lines.
  12. John, thanks for sharing your report. Yes, I saw your boat as I approached 80 FOW area as you were the only one out there. You made a very good choice to stick around this area rather than going out too deep. I agree that the 13# King can fight real hard. The King I caught weights almost the same as yours and I thought it was much bigger fish given the way I had to hold on to the rod and I had to shut off the trolling motor after I reeled in the other line. This young King sure beats the hell out of the 20# King that I boated in last Sunday. Does it mean that the younger the fish are (in teens) , they fight more furious? I dont use radio at all given both of my ears are deaf. I carry Blackberry and we could exchange text messages about our fishing activity. Tight lines.
  13. Thanks YT. Best of luck on the Pro-Am this weekend. I am still hiding my tail between my legs from participating in the tournament. I will stop by to check out the excitement this weekend.
  14. Pike Hunter : Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 6.10.09 Time on Water: 7 pm - 9 pm Temp/Weather: 62 Sunny Wind Speed/Direction: NW at 5 MPH Waves: 1-2 Footers shifting to 1 foot, Calm Surface Temp: 54.5°F Location: North of Irondequoit Bay LAT/LONG: N 17.8, W 31.5 to 32 =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: King Hot Lure: White Spindoctor with Green Glow A-TOM-MIK Fly Trolling Speed: 3.1 mph Down Speed: n/A Boat Depth: 90 ft Lure Depth: 60 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== I took a buddy out on Tuesday evening and we saw how the lake were rough with windy conditions and NE waves 3-4 footers. I ventured out for a short roller coaster ride and did not drop a line. Instead, we headed back to the dock. Last night, the lake was calling me to go out solo in a perfect condition with calm wind and quiet lake. After an hour of trolling, I found the bait pods on screen in between 80 and 90 FOW. I turned my boat in figure 8 directions and immediately the rod fired. It took me good 15 minutes to boat this teenage king - 14#. Healthy fish and released successfully. I went back to my waypoint where the bait were located. The rods fired and nobody was home. AS I took picture of this lovely sky with the sun set, another rod fired and I did not find a fish on the line. I am just an idiot for taking a pretty pictures of the sun set when I should have been paying attention to the rods. Baits were out there last night in 90 FOW. I continue to find more baits as I trolled back to about 70 FOW. Tight lines.
  15. YT, For sure, that SmartFish is helping me fish like a bright fisherman! Just read your post about your recent tournament experience. Wish you best of luck for the next weekend. I know Im smart enough NOT to compete with the big boys - not just yet. Tight lines. AD
  16. Yep Billy! You re on the right track - that is to take care of your family first before fishing or anything else in life. Keep up with the excellent reports! Anthony
  17. Way to go Chris! It shows that you re capable of landing fish in a NE wind. It must be amazing to fight a 20# king!
  18. Thanks Rich. I had very little time to spare and this has helped me to determine the 80 FOW as the starting point as I want to maximize my time on the water. I grew up in Long Island and blue fishing has been one of my favorite fishing experience. Captree or Freeport marinas - who can beat that deal for $30 a night fishing out in the dark on those party boats.
  19. Thanks for sharing a good report with us. The new fishing template can be found by clicking on "New Topic" under the Fishing Reports - South Shore. I was out solo on Sunday morning 6:30 am to 9 am. My fishing partner blamed his wife for not setting the alarm clock and I told him that it was a good sign of blessing that his wife wanted him to stay in while mine wanted me to leave the bed without disturbing her. I had decent marks on my screen between 80 and 100 FOW in 43.17 N and 77.32 W. Two riggers set up with smart fish 60' down and NK Dolphin 40' down. First fish hit on white Smart Fish and Atomik Green Glow Fly. Fish ripped out 200 yards and I brought back nice 19 lbs King. Nice clean fish - very healthy. As I was about to put back the smart fish in the water, second rod fired and I brought in a teenage King. The last fish hit on same white Smart Fish and Atomik Green Glow Fly. I was surprised to see that it was a Lake Trout that hit on the set up. This Lake Trout fought real hard and I thought this type of fish is something you dont want to catch given the negativity surrounding this breed. Three for Three and it was time for me to head back to the dock to tend my children and their friends who slept over with us for the weekend. I went out again and took the children with me in the afternoon only to find NE winds and decided to hang out by the Sand Hill in the bay.
  20. Great pictures! Is it funny everytime the sun goes down, the fish comes out on the screen! Thanks for sharing the report.
  21. Pike Hunter: Fishing Report ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): June 3, 2009 Evening Time on Water: 7:00 PM– 9:00 PM Temp/Weather: 62°F and sunny north of Lake, overcast by the shore Wind Speed/Direction: NW at 3-5 MPH Waves: (0-1 Footers, Calm Surface Temp: 51°F Location: North of IBay LAT/LONG: =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: just one Total Boated: one Species Breakdown: 1 King Hot Lure: White Smart Fish with Green A-TOM-MIC Fly Trolling Speed: (3.2 mph) Down Speed: not determined Boat Depth: 90 ft Lure Depth: 60 ft ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Great evening to be out on a flat lake with cool breeze. I headed north out of Ibay and found scum line in between 80 and 90 FOW. You could locate this easily when you look up north and you will see a break indicating the color change on the lake surface. With just two hours to spare, I put out smart fish with atomik green glow fly on one rigger and stacked with NK 42nd spoon. The fish on the screen were sparse. With nothing going on, I was working on spooling the downrigger with a new cable. I saw two bright yellow spots on the screen where the downrigger was set. Then I saw the rod trip immediately. It took me good 15 minutes to land the fish. I was careful not to waste too much time as I took picture immediately and weighted it briefuly. Digitial scale showed between 17.8 and 19.6 lbs. The fish was released successfully. The picture doesnt do justice as I took it with my blackberry from a distance above the side of my boat to the fish in the water. The screen started to show more fish as the sun set. Most fish were found on the bottom as I trolled all the way back from 90 to 70 FOW. Back to dock by 9:30 pm.
