  1. Thoughts and prayers sent for your family
  2. There is still ice on the Penn Yan side. Branchport side is open.
  3. Way to go! I'm not sure what area on Keuka you were concentrating in but I heard someone say tonight that they were in front of the state park launch in 100 FOW I've had good luck just south of the launch too. Stinks not being able to get out since my boat has been stored for 3 weeks now. Hurry up spring!
  4. I saw on the Scotty website that they had the new rod holders listed separately under the rod holder section so I'm guessing they would be offered as accessories. I have yet to find a website listing them but being so new they may have not caught up yet. I will be upgrading mine for the spring too.
  5. I bet it was the scum line I was looking at. Once I got north of whiskey point it was gone. It was neat to watch the changing temps with my probe on C'dga I was amazed at the drastic change in temps from spot to spot on the lake. Keuka seems to be more consistent with the down temps.
  6. Thanks. I've been to C'dga lake twice this year, once mid summer and yesterday. Both times when I troll on the east side my fish finder shows a lot of clutter from surface to maybe 50' down. I see fish in the clutter as well as bait from time to time. Both times on the east side there was a lot of pollen or something on the surface of the water I move over to the west side and the fish finder is back to normal. I normally fish Keuka with an occasional Seneca trip thrown in. I do not change any settings on my humminbird. What am I seeing on the east side vs. the west side?
  7. Launched from Woodville at 9am, headed over to the east side and started trolling north near white rock. Didn't move a rod trolling north and south. Threw everything at them but the kitchen sink. Trolled back to Whiskey Point and decided to troll over to the west side. I'm not sure of the points on the west side but I started trolling south from a white house on the point. Got to the next point and I decided to go shallow. Came across that point in 55 FOW I doubled up with a laker on black/purple honey bee spoon down 45' and another laker on white/green dot SD with a Big Weenie proctologist out 150' #2 setting dipsy. Both lakers were huge compared to the Keuka lakers on accustom to . Got stuff reset and trolled north across the point again and picked up another decent laker on the dipsy. Didn't move another rod and back at the launch at 2pm.
  8. 10/10 - Launch from Keuka Lake State Park at 7am. Attempted to head to my same way points as last time but the east side north and south of the launch was full of weeds. Surface temp was 60* and the temps below were all screwed up. Had 61* all the way down to 70 feet. Ending up boating two small lakers on the west side on the rigger down 70 feet with a green dolphin SD and Big Weenie Cornbread. Wind picked up so I left around 9. 10/11 - Launch from Keuka Lake State park at 7am. All the weeds from the day before were gone so I went to my way points from the previous week. Surface temp was 60* and the temps at 45 feet were 46 degrees. What a difference a day makes for temps. Stayed south of the launch and ended up boating 6 Keuka size lakers and 1 smallmouth bass in 150 FOW and in. Rigger took 3 with green dolphin SD and Big Weenie Cornbread. Rigger took 3 more shots with no one home. 200-300 chute copper with green dolphin SD and Big Weenie Hot Mess took 3 lakers and the bass. Docked around 9:30. A few boats out jigging and a few other trolling
  9. Rain finally stopped so after loading the kids on the bus I headed to lake. Launched from Keuka Lake State Park at 9am and the skies opened up at 9:01. Figured what the heck and motored out and set up south of the launch in 140 FOW, SOG was 2.5 - 2.7. Trolled north and south of the launch working 150 FOW to 90 FOW. Lots of marks 45' and deeper including large pods of bait. Hot flasher/fly on the rigger was green dolphin SD and Big Weenie Cornbread set 15' back 55' down. Hot flasher/fly on 200' copper on boards was green dolphin SD and Big Weenie Hot Mess. Had to leave the water at 11:30am for a meeting ending a quick morning with 10 for 10 on lakers, doubled up 3 times. Largest laker was 5lbs and the rest were typical Keuka lakers.
  10. This morning Keuka had a small amount 45' down.
  11. Thanks Andy. My son said he wanted to go with me but he never made it out of bed. I'm glad we hooked up last year and showed me how to use copper. I've been very happy to add it to my arsenal. I'm not sure how I made a double post on this topic...
  12. Left Keuka Lake State Park around 6am. Decided to run only copper, 300' down the chute and 200' on a planer board. Green dolphin SD with BW cornbread and hot mess were the hot combos. Ended a short morning with 4 lakers, largest being 24" and the largest landlocked salmon I've ever taken on Keuka. The LL whacked the green dolphin SD with hot mess fly about 40' down in 60 FOW on the north end of lake. After a great fight with the LL I sat down to gather my thoughts and then I remembered I was doubled up. I landed a small laker on the double. I'm normally a catch and release guy but the LL was hooked pretty deep and I didn't feel comfortable releasing it so I decided to keep the fish and give it to a buddy. Salmon bounced between 3.13 lbs - 4.08 lbs on my scale. The wind picked up so I called it a day by 8:30am. I hated to call it a day but it was just too windy. However the largest catch of the morning was a 6' graphite Shakespeare rod and reel that a bass fisherman must have dropped overboard in about 40 - 50 FOW. I must have dragged bottom with the copper and hooked onto the lure. It was a banner morning on Keuka...can't wait to get back
  13. I too noticed some grooving in the housing after taking the riggers off at the end of last season. I had grooving on the right side of the housing, which I contributed it to the blow back and raising/lowering the riggers when running the riggers out to the side. Both riggers were purchased in 2005, one has the original cable and the other has coated cable. I did smooth out the grooves with a file last year and I haven't noticed any problems...yet.
  14. Did a quick evening trip with my 4 year old son Liam. We launched from Keuka Lake State Park and had our lines in the water by 7pm. Found some good marks 40' down over 160 FOW. With no takers in the first hour we picked up the speed a little and the rods started popping. 200' copper with a green dolphin SD and BW cornbread produced 3 lakers. One laker came on a honey bee glow frog 125' down over 150 FOW. All lakers were in the 18" - 20" range. Nothing huge but a great size for my son. It was his first time with the copper and he did great. Off the water by 8:30pm. Fleas were minimal. Liam's first time with copper Minutes later Liam is back on the copper Sunset on Keuka
  15. Launch from Keuka Lake State Park about 6am. Loads and loads of weeds at the launch so I figured the pods of weeds were going to be horrible. Left the dock and headed south only to find some weeds so I moved out to 160 FOW with no weeds and some good marks. 200' copper down the chute with green dolphin SD and big Weenie cornbread took the first hit before the 2nd rod was even set up. Ended up dropping the fish about 50' back. Got the copper back out and downrigger set at 65' with green dot SD and A-TOM-MIK hammer fly. Set it in the holder, sat down and the rigger was firing. Ended up 1 for 1 on the rigger and 2 for 3 on the copper. Copper took 3 hits with no hookups. Off the water by 8:30 when the jet ski and pleasure boaters started to ventured out. Surface temp was 76* and down temp was 45* at 65'.
  16. The BW cornbread fly has been hot this year for me. The lakers tear it up. I'm on my 2nd fly body. Everytime I go out it's in the water.
  17. Launched from Keuka Lake State Park around 5:30am. Found some good marks in front of the state park so I starting setting lines in 120 FOW. Lots of fish were in the 40' range and down. 200' copper with a green dolphin SD and BW cornbread took the 1st shot before I had the second rod set...no one home. Downrigger was set at 55' with white/green dot SD and A-TOM-MIK hammer fly. Down temp was 52* at 55', surface temp was 75*. Downrigger took one laker around 22 inches and the 200' copper took four lakers. Largest laker on the copper was around 24". Weeds and other debris were bad north of state park, hardly any weeds south of the state park. Minimal amount of fleas if any which was very surprising. Two weeks ago the fleas were horrible. Off the water at 8:30am. Back out Monday evening with my 3 year old son. Hopefully we will have some pictures to post.
  18. Dave, I hope they are coming back. I can not believe how hard they hit the rigger spoons. Hope to see you out there soon. Mike
