  3. I think I found an email on the NYS DEC website or I got an email from them looking for people to keep journals in the early spring of 2009. It was pretty easy, keep some info on your trip even if you got skunked. November or December the DEC mails out n envelope for you to mail it back. I think they are suppose to mail you back a report for the lake you kept a journal on.
  4. I do fish the Memorial Day derby on Seneca Lake. I fish Seneca several other times of the year too.
  5. I started out with mono like you and after reading and talking to people I made the switch to wire. It seems my hook/landed has increased but I'm not sure if that's from switching to wire or all the stuff I have learned from this board. There is a ton of great info on wire vs. braid if you do a search. You will be able to get your lure down with less wire and it's a different fight on wire then mono...no stretch with wire and stretch with mono.
  6. Welcome aboard. Lots and lots of great people and information on this board.

  8. I don't leave home without it. I have XM in the truck and Sirius in the car. I take the XM unit out of the truck and put it in my boat. I don't know that last time I listened to AM/FM radio. I prefer XM over Sirius and my wife prefers Sirius over XM. Since the merger of the two, I believe you can pay for a subscription to both XM and Sirius at a discounted rate and get all the stations. I suppose the only con is the monthly fee we have to pay.
  9. Nice buck! Are those the famous net eating cats in the background of pic #2?
  10. Great day on the water! I've never caught so many salmon in one trip. We were putting some big salmon back in the water. Chowder introduced me to copper and it will definitely be on my boat for next season. Thanks for inviting me, I had a blast and learned some new stuff.
  11. I still use the Seth Green rig but not as much as I used to. I don't see to many people using the Seth Green rig these days. Do a search for copper on here an you will find tons of great info. A-TOM-MIK website also has some great info. It really blows to reel the stuff in because of the copper length but it really catches fish. I plan on having some on my boat next spring. It is a huge reel with lots of backing then copper then leader then your bait. We were using spin dr and flies this morning. The copper comes in lengths of 200ft, 300ft, 400ft, 500ft, and 600ft. We would get the copper lines set out and about a minute later we were reeling the copper back in because we had a fish on.
  12. Andrew, I was out with Chowder this morning , south end west side of Seneca and the fishing was hot. Copper was the hot rig followed by the dipsy and the riggers were very quiet.
  13. I'm not sure what the name of the park is but there should be campers on the south side of the road and maybe a sign for the community center. Headed east it is the first right hand turn after the bridge on rt 414. Turn south and follow the road to the launch.
  14. Nice job Jason and Rodney! Figures we would be short handed at work and I could not leave. Looking forward to the pictures.
  15. I went to Seneca with jason, kremer01 and his son. Jason posted the report, seneca 10/18. Great times on the water and it's great to meet/fish with members from this site. It wasn't too cold but more wind that the weatherman predicted. Unfortunately I have some stuff coming up this weekend so I think I will clean the boat and get it off to the marina to have it winterized . Going to be a long winter. I don't have a radio on my boat but I'm sure that can be on my needs/wants list for next year. Good luck out there!
  16. John, 10' - 15' off the weight. Green blades. I don't see the green color listed on their website right now Chill vibrating fly from Big Weenie, comes with a 48" leader so mine is pretty close to that Hopefully I'll be out on Sunday for a few hours in the morning. Mike
  17. We must live real close to each other then. I've never really had good luck on the east side except for one time so I pretty much stick to the west fork and sometimes the bluff. The best I ever did on the east side was 2006; 28 lakers, 2 browns (10.5 and 6.6lbs), 1 small mouth and 1 perch in 6 hours. I've never been able to do that again. I was thinking about getting ready to put the boat away for the year after this weekend but maybe I'll try for extra weekend.
  18. Dave, I was out Monday 10/12, launched from the state park. Fished from 7am-10am and went 8 for 8 on lakers. Managed 1 double which is fun when I'm by myself and going into the wind. Surface temp was 58*, down temp at 60' was 48* Best spot was just south of the boat launch between 125 and 100 fow, picked up 5 nice lakers there on a big weenie grease trap and white vibrating fly. Downriggers were set at 60' and 70'. There were lots of weeds and junk at the north end in Branchport on Monday so I moved out of there after finding that mess. That was my hot spot last week in 70 fow trolling spoons. Ended up with 4 lakers and 2 small mouth bass that weekend. Hopefully I will be out a few more times this week as I am on vacation but residing my house.
  19. Here is the model # HL-D862LS 8'6" Light Line 4-8lb.
  20. I purchased four of them from Nick (Schools Out). Mine didn't come with the tips...something about a truck door I love those rods. I had a great time using them on the Finger Lakes this summer before the fleas showed up. If I remember, I will look at the model # when I get home tonight.
  21. Corey, Fishy Business, Gerry @ 607-368-2306. Pepper Rd just past Keuka Lake State Park. He may even mail them to you.
