  1. RR - I have been looking @ these for some time now. I currently use the Versa-ball mount on my 16' Tracker Targa. I have about 1/2 inch...maybe less on the rubrail where the eagles feet would grab on to. Do you think that is enough to get a solid hold on?
  2. I run the 20# FF when the fleas show up...Ande 15# before the fleas.
  3. I had some cotton wood stuff on my line yesterday while fishing Keuka. When the fleas show up I go with 20 lb flea flicker. I don't like the heavy line either but I hate the fleas more.
  4. We couldn't get anything to hit on a fly. The lakers came on all spoons - black/purple, black/silver, black/blue and yellow/green. We marked loads of bait on Saturday south of Long Point. We couldn't find a lot of bait on Sunday near Long Point and Monday it was back again. We kept going through it and picked up one small laker. Next year I will have to remember to just be either side of it. Most of the lakers came 84' down on the riggers and 30' -40' back. Sometime we shorten the leader but for the most part they were 30' - 40' back. We stayed in the 100' - 140' FOW.
  5. We got as far north as Long Point. We spent all three days there. There were lots of boats Saturday and Sunday but only a few on Monday. We did ok but it was a lot better then previous years. We try to make it to Geneva for one day but not this year.
  6. We were 15 for 18 on Saturday...the biggest was 6 lbs. Today we were 8 for 8...the biggest was 8 lbs. We will give it one more shot tomorrow, it is bedtime now.
  7. I saw the same as superhawk18 on Sunday too. I'll be out later this week for an updated temp.
  8. Tank - I had 51* fishing out of the Keuka Lake State Park on Tuesday 5/6/08.
  9. Tank - I would think it would be warmer now. I may go out after work tomorrow...if I do I will let you know. How often do you fish on Keuka?
  10. I caught one small landlocked salmon on a small honey bee spoon. Others at the launch say they have done ok.
  11. I was out on Sunday and the highest temp I found was 37.3 on the Branchport end.
  12. 18th Annual Tackle Flea Market Sale and Outdoor Show Where: Watkins glen Community Center When: Sunday March 30th 2008 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  13. I was there today and spent a pile of money on trout and salmon stuff. I didn't buy any terminal tackle, just the stuff I really really need. My wife comments everytime we go there, "you spent all that money and it fits in one bag!" I didn't disappoint her this time either.
  14. I have never heard of that either. The DEC Officers often come into my place of employment, next time I see them I will ask. Last summer I showed my lifetime license to a DEC officer because the ink was rubbed of the yellow credit card type license. He looked @ and said I would be fine because the important parts were still there. I guess the important parts was the ID number and some other stuff that was not rubbed off yet.
  15. MANIAC - I sent you a PM. I'm interested in talking about your downrigger board setup.
  16. Unfortunately my boat is off the water and being winterized so I don’t know how the fishing is. On the nice days I have scene only one or two boats out and they seem to be trolling the same patterns as everyone else in the spring/summer/fall. A few weeks ago I was trolling and the smallmouth fishing was hotter than the trout fishing. Everything came on bright dipsy divers with bright jointed rapalas.
  17. I use about a 6' leader. Fire tiger, black/silver, black/bronze, blue/white, and perch have worked well. I have even picked up some nice small mouth on the dipsy and rapalas.
  18. Jointed rapalas have been working well on the dipsy divers. Spoons with a white belly also work good.
  19. I don't yet. Right now I have 20# flea flicker line on a 8' pinnacle dispy diver rod. I was wondering if I should switch over to wire. This is the 1st year I have used dipsy divers so I am still learing. The northern part of the Branchport arm seems to be a hot spot right now. I'm in 60 -80 FOW trolling east and west.
  20. I have my Big Jon mast mounted in front of the bow seat. I have a dual reel and if I was to do it again, I would go with a single reel. Now I only run one board @ a time. If I do two boards I am just asking for a mess. I normally fish by myself so I will run one board and a dipsy or a downrigger to mix things up.
  21. What is a twilly tip and what does it look like? I have googled it with no luck. I am new to wire and dispy fishing. Right now I am using 8' pinnacle dispy diver rod with 20# flea flicker line. I have had good success with this setup but now I am wondering if I should switch over to wire. All of my gear is used on the Finger Lakes and When I go to Lake Ontario with a buddy, we use his gear. Do I or should I switch over to wire with a twilly tip?
  22. They should work fine...as long as the trout are willing to bite. Try some dipsy divers too. Are you going to be fishing the Branchport arm of Keuka Lake?
  23. Got to love the Seth Green rig and Suttons. Seth Green and Sutton 22 on the bottom is my go to stuff when lakers don't feel like hitting on anything else. I don't see to many people using the Seth Green anymore on Keuka. I will give it a shot tomorrow morning.
  24. I have 8 of these reels and can say I haven't had a problem with them. I wonder if you got a bad one out of the bunch. I have had real good luck with these reels. Granted the fish in Keuka Lake aren't the size of the salmon on Lake Ontario but that have worked well for me. Now I will have to cross my fingers and hope I don't have any problems. A couple of buddys and I are headed to Lake Ontario Sunday and his boat is loaded with Okuma reels.
