  1. Says pretty much right there. Time to vote these people out!!!
  2. It's getting to the point we're going to have to put a fuel/water seperator inline for our kickers now, too. This is rediculous. Can anyone comment on how the E15 will work in a 2-stroke application? My kicker is a 1971 Johnson which runs like a dream right now, and I'm worried the newer fuels will end that. What effect will the alcohol have on the 2-stroke oil? Will it break it down any and we'll have to "double-oil" or should it be okay?
  3. Have a nice winter, Glen. I'm headed up next weekend to tow the boat home for the winter. If anything, hoping to run her one last time on the lake, weather permitting. May just burn off some fuel rather than troll. See you in the spring!
  4. That's nuts!!! Never seen anything like that. I don't hunt, so have nothing to compare that to, but what do you think that bear weighed? Some pretty serious rope there!
  5. Happy Birthday, Bill! Hope the recovery is going well and you're 100% in no time.
  6. Ok, I was wondering. There are (2) hardtop Islanders around the Mexico Point launch. One is actually moored at Salmon Country, while the other is trailered and is at a house not far from the launch itself. If I had a choice, I'd definitely go with the hardtop next time over my soft top. But, for now, I love my Islander the way she is.
  7. FRIDAY SOUTH WINDS 10 TO 20 KNOTS BECOMING WEST AND INCREASING TO 30 KNOTS. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS...THEN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY. WAVES 2 FEET OR LESS BUILDING TO 8 TO 11 FEET. SATURDAY WEST WINDS TO 30 KNOTS BECOMING NORTHEAST AND DIMINISHING TO 5 TO 15 KNOTS IN THE AFTERNOON. A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. WAVES 8 TO 11 FEET SUBSIDING TO 1 TO 2 FEET. SUNDAY EAST WINDS 5 TO 15 KNOTS DIMINISHING TO LESS THAN 10 KNOTS. WAVES 2 FEET OR LESS. WINDS AND WAVES HIGHER IN AND NEAR THUNDERSTORMS.
  8. Big Dave, where do you launch out of to get on the lake? Or do you keep yours in the water somewhere?
  9. Oh, yes, I know your boat. The (2) American flags is a nice touch. Where did you get your arch/launcher from? I've been pondering doing the same to mine. Misty, I had the 2" tubing delivered from Pacemaker, in Utica, made the components here, in our machine shop, and I am not the best tig welder, so I had a local guy glue it togather for me. I also used 2 large threaded knobs,(tube inside tube) so I can take it down, very easily, if need be. Sweet. It's definitely a nice set-up. The guy I have had up a lot this year for the derbies & tourneys saw your boat a few times and commented on it. He likes the Islanders a lot now.
  10. Shoot. Wish I had heard you better. Think it's time for an external speaker for the radio.
  11. My neighbor let me try a product he uses on his fiberglass Fountain. I tried it on my Islander and it takes that brown scum right off. It's called Sno-Bol. It's a toilet bowl cleaner, of all things. Wipe it on, let it sit about a minute, then wipe it off. Doesn't seem to remove the paint either.
  12. I started using them last month after I lost a Shark weight, and I am very happy with them and how well they track. I put a torpedo out on one side and a Shark on the other side. Dropped them to the same depth and the blowback was noticably less with the torpedo.
  13. Did you try calling me at one point on 78, Keith? I was busy in the back of the boat and thought I heard my boat's name over the radio. You by chance?
  14. Out where I was trolling around, I landed a nice little king in 168FOW, down 125. Was marking tons of bait from 150-170FOW, about 110 down to the bottom. 52 degrees on the bottom from 140 out to 180, then it started dropping off more. Had (4) hits during the day through that area, but only boated the one king. All hits on white flashers/white A-TOM-MIK fly combos. Saw a few large boats out deep, as well.
  15. I had awesome temps on Saturday. 140FOW between the plant and the Big Salmon River I had 52 degrees on the bottom. Stayed pretty steady, but dropped off more once I got out past 180. In 195FOW, 165 down, I had 44 degrees. Looks like things have turned around for the Bay...finally!
  16. I was skeptical myself after talking to Rich DeMong earlier in the week. He said at 560FOW, the water was 66 degrees 200' down. Glad I made the trip up for the weekend. Sad thing is the guy who usually comes with me couldn't this weekend because he had some things to do at home. I called him about the King and the water temps showing up. He was pi**ed!!! He's new to the whole downrigger/trolling/dipsey/etc techniques, but has picked-up a lot since I first brought him up for the Spring LOC. He's been wanting to catch a king all year, but the water temp issue and crummy weather on weekends has prevented that...until now. I thought he might really get in his truck at 8pm last night and drive up, but he's not here. Another time this year...hopefully.
  17. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: Misty IV ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): 9/18/10 Time on Water: 9am-4pm Weather/Temp: cool, sunny Wind Speed/Direction: S/SW 5-15mph Waves: 1-3 Surface Temp: 68 degrees Location: Mexico Bay between Nine Mile and the Big Salmon River LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated: 1 Species Breakdown: King Hot Lure: Pro-Troll Nuclear White flasher/A-TOM-MIK Ultra White Glow Trolling Speed: 2.5-3.0 Down Speed: 1.5-2.0 Boat Depth: 60-195 Lure Depth: 125 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Got off to a late start this morning. Long week at work and drive up last night. Needed to get some sleep. Was on the water by 9am & headed straight out of the LSR to 60FOW where a lot of other boats were. Dropped the probe, only to find 68 degrees on the bottom. Moved out to 80FOW and and still had 68-70 degrees. Dropped (2) lines in the water off the riggers and trolled out deeper. Around the 120FOW mark, lots of baitfish and some sporadic BIG marks. Temp was down to 60 degrees. By the time I hit 140FOW, I had 52 degrees at 125 down. No sooner did I enter the "zone" and the port rigger fires. Very quick struggle and it was gone. Reset and continued out. The screen was lit-up from the 150-170 range, but no takers this time around. Trolled out to 195 and the temp was in the low 40's at 165FOW. Turned around to troll back through the big marks I saw. Kept both riggers at the 125 mark. At 168FOW, starboard rigger fires and the battle is on. After running on me once, I boated a nice little king. Weighed a hair over 12lbs on my digital scale. Released it to fight another day. Will work on getting the pic posted on here. That fish took a Pro-Troll Nuclear White flasher with an A-TOM-MIK Ultra White Glow fly (T43). Reset that rod to same depth, and swapped the port rod over to a white & green dot DW Spin Doctor with an A-TOM-MIK Hammer Fly (T102), set at 125FOW. Each rod fired once before calling it a day at 4pm. Lake was beautiful today. Hope tomorrow is the same. When I got back to the Mexico launch, I watched the dive crews upright the boat that overturned yesterday by the Big Salmon River. Interesting process there!
  18. Oh, yes, I know your boat. The (2) American flags is a nice touch. Where did you get your arch/launcher from? I've been pondering doing the same to mine.
  19. Tom, any talk if things have turned around in Mexico Bay? I heard there are fish in the Salmon River right now, but still hoping the lake fishing season isn't over yet. Any ideas? Oh, BTW, the Spin Doctor storage cases arrived yesterday and are exactly what I needed. Thanks again!!
  20. Nine Mile plant? If so, majority of us who run out of the LSR use 78. 68 and 69 are where you'll find some info, but also a lot of chatting. Boats out of Oswego use another channel, but it slips my mind right now. Might be 09?
  21. Ok, I think I know your boat. Well, 1 of them. I know there are at least 2 Islanders with the soft tops around (aside from mine). Is yours the older model with the dark blue sides and red stripes or the newer model with the blue & black "whispy" stripes?
  22. That Labor Day weekend storm did more than make big waves. It brought all kinds of stuff to us. Except the fish and cold water!
  23. Be careful using the Mexico launch. 2 Weeks ago I launched out of the middle launch and dinged my prop BAD when backing away from the dock. I don't know if it was a log or rock, but it's there so be advised. Good info to know. I always try to use the far-side ramp (furthest from the lake), although because of heavy traffic, I've had to use the floating ramps a few times this year. If I have to use the floating this weekend, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for that underwater item.
  24. What make/model boat do you have? I may remember yours. I'll be up this weekend. Pretty much going to give up on looking for temp and stage at the mouth of the big river. I'm not running to Canada to find colder water.
