  4. well, I got a looksee on the way back, looks like a good spot, with lots of shoreline contour and some backwater areas. still iced over but I wasnt about to jump in and find out how much starting to thin out tho, so it shouldn't be more than a couple weeks. water is on the low side but should creep up after this weekends rain. nice launch facilites in the middle on the south side, 2 ramps separated a bit apart in the same park-docks are still out of course. easy drive from roch, NO stoplights, all expressway till the last mile (still buildling it out) and literally only 1 stop sign along the whole route from Roch to the lake, which is right at the exit, in sight of the dam.
  5. ok im going to try to scout out the lake on my way back from nj on friday and see how its looking if i can get on the road on time to swing through there before dark.gotta pull over for one conf call so far. hoping its quick and that no one else trys to pimp my program in case I don't make it through in time...anyone down that way have a read on the lakes down there? they starting to thaw out yet?? 7. heck yeah! question right now is just whether my motor will be ready by the time we are. (6 weeks and counting waiting for the local merc dealer to pay their bills so merc will ship my part  don't get me started). seneca till april 1 baby, then its PA musky time [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  8. can't say I've thought about it. but then again I haven't had an issue with hookups on other species. seems muskies and maybe pike-with their boney mouths are the only ones that really need the increase in odds. Just a thought... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  9. that's great news Larry! BTW what is the E.L.E.C.B.A.? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]

  14. if muskies will hit a rubber chicken dragged through the water I cant imagine they care finicky about a metal lip.
  15. we stayed in magnolia bay last year and went through a real estate company (http://www.richardlakefront.com/listings.php) - he has a bunch of rentals. you might also try vrbo.com as you can often dicker with the owners a little bit better than a broker. one thought- if its going to be 2 families staying together, you might consider getting 2 houses next to each other, which might be less $$ than one big house and can be better for the sanity . both ours and the house right next door were rented throguh the same company, so you might give some of the brokers a call and see if they still have some next door available the same week.
  16. yup Chris from bear charters is the guy you want. bearcharters.com his number is on the website. give him a call. I fish with him exclusively when im down there anymore. very good rates (I checked out a bunch and fished with a few) a super nice guy too. he does mostly backwater and leaves out of the launch at the causeway to sanibel. 20. ok...soo couple votes for hank...i assume related to the initial Q of std 9.9 carbed. im game too IF hank *knows* optis inside and out... hank you wanna interview??? [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
  21. I'm not sure that its the same on the I/Os as it is on outboards, or what your top end speed is, but at WOT the trim tab doesn't always have water flowing by it...if you're going fast enough its actually out of the water. as you test out your adjustments, make sure to check its effect at mid range and WOT. if you notice a difference (pulling the other way, for instance) at midrange but no effect at WOT, then the trim tab is in fact out of the water and rendered useless at WOT. BTW- small changes on the trim tab make a BIG difference on steering effect, move it just one or maybe two notches at a time and then test.
  22. I understand your sentiments...ALL of it... i've taken to doing quite a bit of my own work. I can throw darts (trial and error repair) just as well as the shops can, but I don't charge myself anything when I don't get it right ...and I never complain about MY customer service! let me know when you find one...particularly one who actually knows the ins and outs of the optimax well.
  23. that's why I will never fish waneta in the winter...can't target em..and even if you get one you can't take a pic-right back into the water they must go. what a tease and irresistable temptation that lake would be for me... [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
